Thanks! But, what does that mean? Is the coil build too low?

The blinking resistance usually means "too low wattage" setting for the resistance of your build. Unless something changed with the dna 40, Evolv chips do not step down voltage output. The blinking is indication that you need to increase your wattage setting. The device will fire however, it will do so at a higher voltage then what is set on the screen.

I actually received the Vaporshark rDNA on Friday, but I haven't started using it yet. The above comes from dna 30 chip knowledge.

I have a VS rDNA30, but I broke the bank today and picked up the rDNA40 and some .30ga nickel wire (didn't have .28g in stock). Rebuilt my Russian with 9 wraps of and got a 0.31ohm coil - way lower than I have ever gone before. I wicked it without damaging the coil the first time! Wow is nickel wire ever soft. I set my temp to 390F and away she went! I have the benefit of a coil jig, which helped me get it right.

If your holding back because of nickel wire, just take your time, its not as hard as it seems from some people's posts. I definitely notice the boost and then the drop off. Worth it? Well, I've had the unit for all of 5 hours and been vaping for about 30 mins with it. No display problems, everything seems to work properly.

Will keep you posted, but so far, two thumbs up.

Unlike the DNA 20 and DNA 30 chips, the DNA 40 chip does step down power. The output power is 1–40 watts, 1—9 volts per the DNA 40 datasheet. Also, the DNA 40 uses soft limiting rather than refusing to fire when user power settings are incompatible with specs/available battery power. Brandon discusses soft limiting starting at 52:45 in his interview with Phil Busardo.

If I'm not using rebuildables, just standard attys like nautilus and aerotank, and I never really vape above 8 or 9 watts, is there any advantage of getting an rDNA 40 over an istick?
At the present moment no.
However, kanger and aspire are set to release nickel heads allowing both to take advantage of the temperature control feature of the dna40.
At that time yes the rdna would benefit you in that way.
On a side note, most of us, i know myself, stared with an mvp, then a provari and stayed vaping below 15w. Now my all day device is at 22w....just some food for thought since tomorrow the coupon code "cybermonday" will get you an rdna40 for $152.00.

Interesting. I just stumbled on an Instagram post that Vaporshark made about a month ago -

Instagram

Looks like they will be directly making the Aspire Nautilus Nickel coils, but not clear when they will be available.

I only use Nautilus tanks on my Vaporsharks (so far) but i also have an iStick & for me it just makes a lot more sense to use my iStick when i´m out & about.....driving, shopping, going to the range & such.... simply because if i drop it.....i´d rather see the iStick brake than either of my rDNA´s.

I see it as; using the iStick is like driving a Volkswagen....it does what it´s supposed to ..... using my rDNA´s is like driving a BMW.....you just want to continue driving :)

I have three rdna40s and working on building a dna40 boxmod.
Ill wait until the lipo model is released and grab one of those though.
Saved a spot on the shelf for it.

Plan is to convert all my attys to nickel.

I wonder how hard their sever is going to get slammed, it sounds like there's a bunch of people waiting for this deal.

Where is everyone getting the nickel wire? I noticed that VS is now carrying it but they want almost 3 times what lightning vapes is selling it for, I'm thinking about ordering a 25 ft spool of 28, 30, and 32 from LV to try them all out.

I use an erlkonigin during day to day runabout. My go to setup you could say rdna40/Erlkonigin. I have an old vsdna30 from its first release that i bought used as my beater with an erlprinz.
If you look at thr classies here you can score some killer deals. That used vsdna30 takes a beating plus it fires to a o.5 OHM BUILD and has a spring loaded 510.
