Nope just common decency and respect of others. It makes people uncomfortable and I don't feel that's OK in any work place! We choose to
vape they don't. why is it our place to subject people to something that makes them uncomfortable. Just my opinion.
How we are we subjecting people if we are not actually close enough for their concern to be genuine?
I strongly believe I could stand say 10 feet behind most people, smoke a cigarette, and they'd know. If I do same experiment with
vaping, I'd be very surprised if more than 10% of the people knew, and would be very interested in how anyone (in the 10% range) did in fact know. Then have the same person turn around and face me, and I would get how'd they know, but wouldn't get how they are then (suddenly) uncomfortable. Would be akin to me claiming that the color of their pants makes me uncomfortable and that color of pants needs to be banned from that establishment with possibility that pants worn by anyone is now a questionable activity that the establishment will be monitoring from that day forth.
People do all sorts of things at work that I don't. Because of my disposition (high level of tolerance), I can't say it bothers me. But start playing the 'you make me uncomfortable card' willy nilly and I may change my disposition, utilizing same tactics (policies) to make it such a bland place to work that nothing remotely enjoyable can be tolerated by the establishment. I hope everyone is up for that game. And a silly game it strikes me as if I could use my little experiment above to establish if said person is part of the 90% that I believe they would be.
