Down the rabbit hole..
Ultimately this is only going to hurt the people that want the option of buying a reasonably priced VV. The ones that do not have the funds for the high priced units but still want to try them. I have many VV's and will buy more before they are priced so high that the average user can not afford to buy one. A lot of the people on this forum are looking for a way to save money. I applaud buzzkill for his entrepreneur spirit but think it was low to use we the people of this forum to rat out the other vendors for him and not say why he wanted the information first.

What he said.....

GMoney,

Thank you for saying my patent was obviously not written by a patent lawyer. I consider that a great compliment!

It was, however, reviewed and edited by a rather respected patent lawyer up in Edmonton.

He also did the submission.

Ha Ha - Your claims were very well done! Don't read too much into my other statement - there was just some phrasing in the body that was not phrased in a manner that an attorney who has practiced before the PTO would generally put it.;)

However, Mike's is not poorly written - although it may be written in a "style" that you are unaccustomed to.

And, Zen, writing letters is very Evil. It causes people and companies stress; some people freak out even at the threat of litigation. What this guy is trying to do is put a "Chill" on the industry. Geez, and he hasn't even made it to his first examiners report yet!

How can you possibly think that is a good thing?

Sigh... I can barely respond to this... are you suggesting he not protect his IP? You're way off base here... protecting his IP is his responsibility, and you KNOW that! Writing letters stating his intentions is REQUIRED to establish his rights... you may not like it, but he has to vigorously protect his IP or the patent has no value...

Look at it this way: Do you like that the RIAA and the MPAA are threatening to sue welfare moms and 11 year olds?

Music piracy is my hot button... sue the thieves and put their heads on a pike in the town square... I HATE music and software pirates... no matter what age, or socioeconomic status.

How is threatening small manufacturers any different?

How is oferring to license to technology to these thieves threatening? Should he just offer up CD letters instead?

BuzzKill - if you really want to build a strong business, here's what you do: Domiinate the market with innovative and novel products that people will buy. Try that for a change.

He's done that, pretty well too...

Don't threaten small companies with litigation.

Has he? Or has offered to enable them the opportunity to do business in an ethical and responsible way?

Are you going to send cease and desist letters to someone who posts a circuit for an "Evercool" BB mod on the forums??

Asked and answered...

Its obviously not even about the money.

You are a bully, and I HATE bullies.

I stand up to them whenever I can.

Then go find one! If you can't se that what Mike is doing is right and prudent, perhaps you should go nip at the heels of somebody that might respond positively to your campaign, because at the moment, you've stated your position, why not leave it at that?

Perhaps but, by sending out warning letters to everyone, he's not signalling that he wants to keep anyone from stopping him, he's signalling that he wants to stop everyone else. That's a far cry from self protection.

Agreed... I would understand if he wants to protect his investment but to patent the whole concept? Ha! That sounds like something big tobacco would do. I said something about not adding anymore to this insanity but I had to agree with this guy.

Mike, I was really really close to buying one of your products. So, thank you! I would have felt bad if I ordered one and found this out later.

IMO Buzz needs to sell a whole bunch of PV's so he will have a pile of money for the attorneys he will be using to defend his patent(if he even gets a patent).....just my 2-cents.....

Oh, by the way, he "touched" one of my buttons with the term "knockoffs"......since he did not have the "first PV ever invented" does that mean that his PV's are just "knockoffs" also.....again, my 2-cents worth......

And, YES, I am enjoying this humerous exercise in futility.......

This just hurts to read... do you not realize that to protect his design concept that doing so means to patent the VV concept as applied to eCigs and PVs?

He can't say "I want a patent, but only a little one that won't upset people..."

This is not something that can be that limited, and if he is the inventor, doesn't he deserve the right to reap the rewards?

I mean, seriously!

PATENTS ARE NOT EVIL... I REPEAT... PATENTS ARE NOT EVIL...

You're saying you would RATHER buy from the thieves that KNOW they stole the design, and are getting away with it!

It's just so... IRRATIONAL...

OK, I have to go before this vein in my forehead tosses me an aneurysm...

Zen,

The fact that you think that Giant Multinational Corporations suing welfare moms and 11 year olds into oblivion is perfectly okay speaks volumes about what kind of a person we are dealing with.

I couldn't have said it better myself, and thank you for making my argument for me!

You're welcome... I'm the kind of person the feels that thieves should be punished and innovation should be rewarded...

My bad... who knew it was the other way around these days?

FWIW, I am in complete agreement with you Zen. I don't think that people understand that without protection of rights there would not be any significant innovation, or at least it would occur at a "snail's pace". No business entity will invest resources without the ability to reap the benefits. I think people just simply don't understand the implications of what they think they want.

Yeah, and I don't see them sending threatening letters to anybody.

Patents are fine, and even advisable. But when they are used to squash innovation that's universally bad.

^^^ And what Chaos said.

Doesn't matter, I was planning on getting a VV, and in the future making my own alot like the guys with the wooden boxes were making. Tell you guys one thing, I ain't getting me a licence and I'd get a lawyer if I get taken to court over it.
