Variable Wattage Devices

So, a few weeks ago I had a Provari in Provape's cart, ready to order when my husband contacted me to inform me that I will not be able to enjoy my tax return like I thought I could. I was extremely disappointed, to say the least. However, over the last two weeks I got to thinking... Could this be a sign that Provari isn't for me? I currently use an MVP 2 with carto tanks and a Kracken clone. I love the hcigar Kracken clone by the way. Great vape, especially as I've refined my microcoil building skills with it. I use cotton wicking and I'm getting some fabulous taste out of it. I digress though... Point is, I'm very much used to variable watts at this point, so before I hit "complete order" over at Provape or run myself over to a local vendor who still has the Provari Mini in pink in stock, I was wondering if that would be a mistake...

So, fill me in on variable wattage devices. This is my 6 months without a cigarette reward to myself, so something in the $200 to $250 range would be okay. Something I can get a girly version would be nice, like pink or something, but that isn't a requirement. That it looks nice though, is. I'm not interested in mechanicals as of yet, but may consider one if it'll take a kick I suppose... I do kind of want a screen though, to tell me what setting I'm on, and I don't want to have to take anything apart to change that setting. I don't want anything with a waiting list, or something that's hard to find because I wanted my reward two weeks ago as it is. I'm not waiting anymore!!! Hubby will just find something else to spend the money on before I do again!

If you can find one, snatch up a Sigelei 20 watt. It doesn't come in the girly pink you might want, but it pumps some power for a regulated mod. It will make that Kraken hum...or pop..or whatever. I love mine, still trying to get a great build on the Krakens tho.

+1 for the 20Watt I have one and its the only thing that can push enough power to fire my dual super-nano coil build on my Steam Turbine. besides a mech that is.

I read on here that Provari cures aids and cancer. Also that it will give the user six pack abs within 2 weeks of use.

Don't think you can say that about any other vv/vw.

Have you ever wondered what makes the "right way" to do something becomes the "right way"? ........... Because it's the easiest way to do it right.

Same goes for VV or VW, which is the easiest way for you to do it.

I vape at 7~8 watts, why would I need a 20 watt PV?

I'm kind of in agreement with this. I vape at 8 watts myself. But they're watts, and not volts. I set it and forget it with the MVP. I am familiar with ohms law, and I started vaping with a variable voltage device, so I know how to handle it without burning out a coil, but wattage is just so damn easy. I've been spoiled. But the Provari looks so pretty and shiny... If I can find something else pretty and shiny, but with variable watts as well, that would be ideal. 20 watts however, is def not a requirement.

I like the MVP 2.0 shine they come in different colors like pink with jewels on it, moderately priced at around 69.00-89.00 depending on where you purchase it at. The Vamo V5 is also another nice one moderately depending upon where you get it I got mine on eBay for $34.99 without the batteries which you can purchase a 2pk at Vaporalley.com for around $9.00 and the charger I got was $22.00 same website charges both the 18350 batteries and the 18360 batteries which is what the V5 takes. I don't know much about the Provari, I haven't allowed myself to go that nuts on purchasing such an expensive device, but then again I live on a fixed income so that is probably why I have shied away from purchasing one but I do eventually plan on adding on in pink to my collection someday when I quit being such a tight wad, and quit spending money on the cheaper VV/VW mods. Hope this helps a little. But I love the two little cheap mods I have they give me what I need and I am pretty easy to please when it comes to vape gear.

I built a .9 ohm microcoil around a paperclip. You bend the single wire on the paper clip at a 90 degree angle from the rest of the looped part. Loop the end of the kanthal at the bottom of the looped part so that it doesn't come loose. Wrap the other end around the part you unbent from the paper clip around tightly. It's easy this way, with the paper clip basically holding down the other end of the kanthal for you. Nice, even, tight, coil. Then I used a some boiled cotton wick. I cut a piece that was thicker on top and thin on the bottom. Threaded the thin part through the coil and down into the tank. Pulled it so the top, thicker part was snug in the coil. Vapes great! Better then my cartotanks, which really surprised me!

Reward yourself with a pretty pink Jwrap for the MVP2 and save the rest of that money for a rainy day! And/Or, buy a nice drip tip and tank, and you STILL have money left over...

Something you might want to consider when looking for your next device, you can always wrap the mod don't let the available colors deter you.

I already have two MVP's so I'm finding hard to justify number 3, especially since the Shine edition is $20 more then I can get the orginal version, or the Energy version for. I love my MVP's, don't get me wrong! They're great devices, and likely the best bang for your buck out there, which is why I have two. But, since this is a reward to myself, I want something a bit special. Something that would be new to me, you know what I mean? A Provari would fit the bill for that, but I also don't know if I want to spend $200 for a device that I may not use that much because I'll miss variable wattage. I suppose I could resell it though, if it winds up that I'm not using it much... Hmm..

I think I really do have to at least try it. Since it does cure cancer and all... I've resisted it for so long. Telling myself that my MVP provides a smooth vape too. That it doesn't need extra batteries and an external charger. That the MVP is better for my long commute. It has variable wattage. And all of that is true. But the Provari is so pretty.

I suppose the only other thing I may consider is a DNA 20 or 30 device. But those seem to be hard to find. The hight quality ones anyway...

How many toppers do you swap between? That's gonna help you answer your question.

I have three Kayfuns that are built within .1 ohm of each other. Do you think I worry about variable wattage or voltage. Nope.

The builds are close enough that I can set it at about 4.4 volts and be pretty close to 10 watts that I like.

All that variable wattage does is eliminate the in between tank voltage adjustment that you have to do with a VV device if the new tank you put on is a significant difference in resistance from the previous one.

For me, now it's just a number. Instead of 10 watts, I think 4.3 or 4.4 volts. And I used to be a Variable Wattage missionary.

The coil part I can get, it seems to be the wicking I'm having trouble with. I have a dual coil in right now, at 0.6 Ω, fires beautifully, nice pretty glow. But, it makes a pathetic vape. I've cranked it to 15 watts and I get more vape from my Protank II with a 1.8 Ω coil at 8 watts. I have the same setup in my Prometheus and it rocks pretty good.

I must vote for the Sigelei 20W. Beyond the 20 Watts of power (which I never approach) it has the simplest menu system, a clear and informative screen, flush mount w/ floating 510 pin, selected power level locks in, and a flat power signal (no PWM). What's not to love about it?

Here is a unique DNA 30 mod I just ran across. I like the wood and brass construction. From what I have read, it's about $225 US. This thread is about the DNA 20 but I have read he is now using Evolve's DNA 30 chip-set. Scroll down for the pictures:
