This might be my first rda purchase and i was wondering how well does this rda perform with a single coil, if i mount the coil between the posts. Ill be using twisted wire made out of 4 strands of 28G SS430.

Want to get this RDA for juice test tasting when i go to local B&M.

Thanks.

So just for the hell of it, I did a 26ga Parallel 6 wrap on 2mm ID right through the center of the posts using the top holes to put the wire through. It came out to .65 ohm and long as hell (but still fits in the deck). I have to say it is nice. Flavor is fantastic, plenty of vapor. I will see if I can add a pic in a minute to this, my phone is sucking at closeups lately so it may be a bit blurry, but just to get the idea. I also on a whim took the extra strip of cotton I peeled off to get the wick through the coil and folder it over and stuffued it under the coil so it touches the whole bottom side of the coil.

I also need to push it over a little, it is slightly off center but still not touching

Edit: added a better pic (yes I know my coil is not all that pretty, but I am new to doing parallel coils still too)

So the airflow is hitting the ends of the coil? I'm surprised that works, cool that it does.

So far, so good. I might be hurting it by shoving extra cotton under the coil willy nilly, but it hits nice. Kind of surprised myself really. Will have to play with it a bit more and see if I can go bigger ID and shorter coil without getting too close to the posts.

Looks like I might be able to fit a 2.5mm coil.

Thanks for the pic and the build, going to order later today.

That's an interesting idea. I usually build mine dual verticals with a horseshoe wick. BTW, if you will twist the legs of a parallel coil together, after wrapping but before taking it off the mandrel, they're a lot easier to work.

Anyone know if the replacement flat head screws that avid sells fit the clone? Getting tired of stripping these her grubs.
Just got my grub screws and o-rings from avid vaper. Screws fit fine on the clone.

The rings look like a set of 4 that are all the same size. The top one on the clone seems a little smaller than the ones they sent to me. Just comparing against the spare rings from the Tobeco, it looks like at least the bottom ones will be fine. When I get a chance i may pull it all apart to verify.

30-40 so far, enjoyable throughout the range, today I have been sticking to 40 and loving it.

Yuppers that's the exact same build I use in my RTA's and also vape at about 40 - 45. In the Velocity I have been running 3 id and 24 gauge 6 wraps. Comes to .25 and vape it at 60.

My Velocity is in transit, i think the delivery day might be delayed do to upcoming East Coast snow storm. Im willing to wait.
In the meantime, ive been making twisted ss wire and coils.

Told my friend about Velocity, who is a RDA lover, so he ordered one from SlowTech.

Quick build. SS430, 4 strands of 28g twisted @28ohms. Wicked it with rayon.

Hits like a train in TC mode. 35j, 450f.

Made a mistake and used 5mg nic juice, so I coughed up a lung after 2nd hit.

The little notch is kind of pita to line up though. No big deal, I'll make a notch on the outside of the tank to make alignment easier.

Not too shabby for my first RDA, i just need to spend time practise building coils and wicking to my licking, but so far so good.

The ability to fine tune Airflow is a BIG PLUS.

And the Allen tool that came with my Serpent tank works perfectly.
