Do we have any eta on when the new vivi's will be up and ready to go? I know ya'll are moving the next several days. Will it be after the move, or longer?

Last update from Badkolo was it was shipping from China on 6/4/12. Figure between shipping and customs, three weeks. So If I had to guess, somewhere around the 25th. If it's sooner, that's serendipity.

Hello all!

I have no idea which version of the Vivi Nova I have, but if it means anything I had issues with it fitting in my boxmod until I got an adapter. Problem solved.

So far this is my favorite tank mod hands down. No leaks, good flavor, awesome vapor and TH. Of the three heads, i favored the 22.4 as it allowed me to really dial in the voltage on my 1st gen Buzz and my cheap VV boxmod.

Sadly, I only got a couple of days (at the most) out of each coil head. How long are you guys getting? Even though a $2.99 or so head every two days is still cheaper than smoking, it isn't any better than I get with a carto in a DCT tank (and I am using one now as I have no spare heads, but I hate DCT tanks). These work so well it would be worth the money, but if there is a way to dtretch their life I am all ears.

How long do Fluxomizers and/or Stardusts last? Which is best? I am considering getting a few of those as backups for when I run out of coil heads in the future. I have the feeling that Vivi Nova heads will be hard to come by as the word gets out on these. I have had CE2 tanks in the past and they were decent but gurgly and I often got juice in my mouth (another reason I hate DCT tanks). I need something that doesn't require a lot of filling for when I am driving, and lasts for a while so I am not buring through $40 or $50 bucks a months in parts. If that exists, of course.

Thanks for any advice. This is an amazing thread.

Are you aware that you can rebuild the heads for the Nova. All you need is a wicking material (currently I use 100% cotton yarn) and nichrome awg 34 (the 34 awg gives approx 2.5 ohms [4 wraps of the nichrome on the wicking material]). Both of these items are cheap.

Soon, the Stardusts will be available in a configuration similar to the Nova: The atty heads, I think, will be interchangeable between both devices.

The Fluxos last a very long time and are very easy to clean.

Thanks for your reply!

I did see that the heads can be rebuilt and read the post that showed how to do it with pictures, but I didn't get it. I am not very mechanical when it comes to small things like that. Big hands, no coordination.

One of my heads came apart when I was fiddling with it. Since I have two dead heads I may just give it a shot, since I can't lose anything.

Well, I get more than two days out of the heads... :) I don't think I've heard of them burning out that quickly, in general. Just how high are you dialing up your voltage?

I noticed that with ViVi heads you can really go to town with high voltage, they don't tend to give dry hits, expecially when the tank is full, but you can surely burn them out if the voltage is too high for the resistance...

I haven't had it that long, or used it that much, so I can't give you an average lifespan.

As far as Fluxos and Stardusts are concerned:

Fluxos live a looooooong time. I've had some last over three months. No kidding. But some folks find them fiddly. Some don't.

Stardusts' life span has been, in my experience, more limited by the tubes cracking than anything else. I've never had one live less than a month, but keep in mind that I don't use high voltage either. I use reg. resistance at around 3.7 to 4 V on the average, and less than that on some juices.

But, basically, the lifespan on both is really good.

I don't know my exact voltages as I have no meter, I just dial up or down based on throat hit.

I do vape pretty hot compared to others I know who vape.

Perhaps this is an obvious question... but do you clean and dry burn them?

I didn't. I had no idea what that was before I arrived at this thread.

If I understand, i soak them in alcohol, install them, and fire the battery for a bit, right? I plan on doing this with new head when i get some.

Well, I suspect, though I can't be sure, that you are simply over-powering the coils. Putting too much energy through them. So they pop. It's hard to tell without numbers, but if you take a 2.4 Ohm coil and plop it on top of 6 V, it's probably not long for this world. :)

Oh, be careful with dry burning. Alcohol bath -> good water rinse -> let dry -> dry burn on the lowest setting of your VV *for no longer than five second at a time ever*. After the entire coil glows, do it one more time and stop. And don't ever blow on the coil while it's hot. And, personally, I don't do it unless there is a need. Others feel differently.

Wow... I'm glad I mentioned it but I felt it was unlikely given the join date you have... the only reason I mentioned it was because of your number of posts being so low ...

Personally, I just rinse the heads until the wicks are clean looking... if they don't get to that point then using pure grain alcohol would probably be warrented... Then I blot dry the wicks and head assemble... install onto a PV and dry burn the coils until they don't have any gunk left on them. Don't burn them for long on each burn... somewhere between 3-8 seconds at a time... then let it cool down and repeat.

A Google search should return a lot of results from YouTube so you can see it being done a time or two

With the juice I use... I burn until the coil wires are clean and then stop... that isn't just a couple of times in my case and if I don't... it clogs to quickly often before I finish a fill

I noticed that once the entire coil glows orange, it's entirely clean, especially after an extra burn... It's just nice and silver after that. All I do afterwards is rinse again, 'cause I don't want the taste of ashes in my juice - and it's definitely there if I don't...

Do you find that yours are still gunky even after they glow bright?

When you dry burn - or do any kind of cleaning, really - you take off the white rubbery "hat" and the metal grommet inside it.

I lurk more than I post for sure! I am very glad you mentioned it.

As others have mentioined the burning things as well, I'll just respond here to save post count...

Does "head assemble mean you took the whole thing apart? How do you see the coils when it is back together?

Crusty may be a better word than gunk at the point I start seeing the red glow of the coils... In fact, 2 of my juices will gunk the coils up in one fill.. the RY4 I use I can typically fill 2-3 times before they need cleaning. If these weren't the best tasting juices I've ever had... I'd move onto other brands to try..

I'll refrain from posting the name/brand here since GV also sells juices...

I'll also add that the heads for the Vivi Nova are removable and use 510 threads... so you can remove them from the tank, clean them and put them directly onto your PV without having to re-assemble them into the tank... When finished replace them into the tank and fill.

Don't forget to replace the milky white silicone cap or it will leak.

Hm. Fascinating how different folks' experiences can be, and we can so easily assume that our experience is the general experience - which, it seems, I'm guilty of here. :D

I guess the general instruction for dry-burning should, then, be: burn on lowest voltage for about five sec. intervals, letting the coil cool between burns, and keep doing it until the coil looks clean. :)
