I started vaping ages ago back in 2007 or thereabouts.
The only ecigs available then were either 510 or older type 801 atomizers.
We then bought the chucks and vaped on 6 volts with 5 ohm atomizers for a while. (Custom made Vivi Nova 5 ohm coils)
This "while" lasted for years, and I am a little "out of the loop".
I recently bought an IPV mini 70 watts with a few subohm tanks (Kanger, Artic, Herakles etc, 0.5~1.2 OHMS).
The internet is riddled with videos of guys blowing huge clouds of vapor with these sub ohm systems. This intrigued me.
What they do not tell you, is that it is impossible to take a mouth to lung puff, because these tanks afford too much airflow.
Personally, I feel very uneasy breathing anything directly into my lungs. My older 801 and 510 atomizers sometimes spurted out liquid.
I would like your thoughts on this one?

I find that a mouth puff gives you more taste. It's sort of wasted if it goes directly into the lungs.
Another thing I discovered is that these sub-ohm tanks vape much hotter than my previous e cigs. I cannot get a cool/cold vape no matter what wattage I use.

Thirdly, The kanger sub ohm mini coil crackles loudly, sort of Pops loudly from time to time. This greatly annoys me and adds to my lung inhale paranoia.
I'm a little stuck at the moment, and do not know what ecig/tank/coil system to transition to.
:(

I used to feel the same way until I started with my Atlantis, my first sub-ohm tank, and now direct lung hits is the way I vape. Like you I used to feel uncomfortable doing a direct lung hit. For each his or her own but it might take time to get used to doing it different after many years of using the stinkys.

You can close the subtank airflow almost completely off enough to get a decent mouth to lung hit from it if you want. Also, if you use the RTA section of the subtank it does close off the airflow considerably and a mouth to lung inhale is easily possible.

Volume vaping is not for everyone (as you've found) and I think a lot of people who buy in to the hype of these new gen of clearomizers do not realize they are predominantly for direct lung inhales. It's not necessarily a sub ohm thing, more a design of the airflow of the tanks you are using.

I don't really notice much, if any restriction with the mini section in the RBA.. only in the original subtank. It might be a TINY bit less on the mini but i'd say its not nearly enough to be noticeable

now knowing that for the past year , ever since I started vaping I havent vaped at more than 0.40 ohms , I can tell you the oposite , anything over 0.50 ohms sucks because there is not enough vapor production and intensity ,

If thats your experience, perhaps you should learn how to build...rather than start silly threads about a .09 orchid or a .15 subtank. This statement from you proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

The Op has been vaping since 2007, I think his lungs have healed and adjusted. Is it so hard to believe that everyone does not enjoy sub ohming and lung hits?

This is simply not true. I can set up a 1.0 ohm geny that will fog a room in no time. Or a 3.0 cartomizer at 5.5 volts is nothing to sneeze at ether. You are going at this with a one sided view there is more than one way to achieve both flavor and vapor production. You are actually limiting your self certain juices are better at higher voltage and resistance.

Are you sure about that?

I have all those options sitting in my house... and I vape them for a hit here and there. I couldn't vape any of them exclusively, though.

I vape @ 0.2 ohm ADED.

@ 50mg, that's what keeps me cool and collected.

You dont count!!!!! You are no less a freak of nature than a 2 headed goat ;-)

You are the perfect example of how everyone has different tastes.

OK, curiousity got the best of me. I smoked a pack to pack and a half a day of full flavor filters for nearly 50 years and the most nic I could stand when I first started vaping was 20mg. Now i'm down to 2 to 3mg and could probably stop altogether now and not miss it. But I still enjoy vaping and have no plans to quit.

How much and what did you smoke to need 50mg juice?

4 pad.
Marlboro reds. (Really my brand)
Rollies (no filter)
RYO
Mint dip
Cherry or clove cigs
Random cigar recommendations from time to time.
Some pipe smoke seldomly.

But the real kicker was when I realized I had an intense nic tolerance.

I was working on site at an FAA facility in NJ. Our smoke breaks were limited. I picked up 21mg (level 1) nicoderm patches and nicorette gum.

Most of the time I wound up with 2 fresh patches on my shoulder. Sometimes more, but always with fresh nic gum in my mouth.

But i was hot boxing 3 to 5 cigs at each smoke break and still smoking 4 pad.

With no ill effects. Even then, some people were telling me I was going to die. But i felt fine.

You run into the same problem I have with sub ohm stuff. IMO its not really needed but I can see the draw for some people, I've been all over the map with vaping and have my set ups down to 2 now. I have a vertex v2 RDA running a 1.8 ohm single coil atop a ZNA 30 set to 12-18 watts depending on juice for my drip set up. This is a good rda for both restricted lung inhales as well as mouth to lung inhales and if the bug hits me I can drop in a sub ohm dual coil build and fog away. My workhorse set up is a few kayfuns (lite + v2 and v4) built at 1.5-2.0 ohms powered by a provari v3 at 10-15w. The Kayfuns provide a good MtL hit that can be airy or tight but won't do full long hits without modding. Both set ups provide great flavor and vapor and are never too hot. My provari has proved to be worth the money as the most durable/accurate mod I own. It has actually been ran over by a forklift at work and only suffered a few scratches. Damn thing is tough as hell.

Wow you have quite a tolerance. So before sub ohm vaping were you vaping like 100mg juice?

No.

I was suffering, being warned I was on a path to certain death and working my way up slowly.

My first threads posted here will give you insight to my vaping path.

ETA; though, I have vaped my 100mg nic base.

Wow, that is one whopping tolerance for nic beckdg!!

It's amazing how much difference there can be between people in all kinds of different tolerances. I know someone who is immune to dental freezing. I had a medical procedure done a couple of years ago that needed sedation and the drug they used had no effect on me at all even after double the normal dose. People usually can't even get up for an hour afterwards and end up sleeping it off for a bit. I got up five minutes after it was done, got dressed and left.

And I get nic sick vaping 3 mg these days. Go figure, LOL.

Funny, isn't it?

Things I can handle, I develope crazy tolerances to nearly immediately. Others knock me on my rear immediately and every time.

When I was in for my kidney stone surgeries they gave me enough morphine to kill a herd of cattle. It didn't phase me. So they added a cocktail to make it somewhat effective. I was signing a stack of waivers every half hour for two weeks.

But cyclobenzaprine for back pain knocks me on my rear in small doses and I wake up cramped, twisted and dehydrated like a scoliosis patient stranded in the mojave.
