I haven't read through the thread, but I've seen two of your posts. I think you might consider just sticking with what you're doing.

Sub ohming isn't ideal for mouth to lung inhales. Or stealth vaping. It isn't even best if you're looking for a cool vape. Don't do it just because its popular if its not what you're looking for.

I'm sure you know, but the point is too allow for bigger clouds at lower wattage.

My suggestion is to get a high wattage regulated mod, and build over 1 ohm. You'll get more wraps around the cotton and therefore better clouds and flavor. Then slowly adjust the wattage down until you get that cooler vape you're looking for.

I am confused at the posts here. The OP has clearly outlined their ideal vape.

We as a community have clearly lost sight of this end of the spectrum.

I would suggest a billet box or ibtanked carto tank. It'll be like the good old days.

I'm the most hard core vaper posting here. Guaranteed. Dunno why I'd have to be the voice of reason. Seems... surreal.

Yep, the lung inhale does feel creepy when you're first trying it, I remember the feeling. People just love to consume those giant hits, myself included, although I find that when I've been doing lung inhales for awhile I start wanting the mouth to lung again, the flavor gets considerably better with mouth to lung and it feels more like smoking that's for sure.

I have the best of two worlds.

The Kayfun gives a tight, mouth to lung hit which I prefer when the direct to lung hit of my RDA gets a little too much. I like both at different times (for some variety).

I agree completely. Seems like most of the posts on this thread are trying to convince the Op to vape in way that he has clearly stated is not satisfying to him.

Kudos to those that have actually made sugestions to get the Op the type of vape he's looking for instead of trying to convince him to vape another way.

Well my posts only suggest he is doing it wrong with too high of nic. His preferred vape might very much change if he uses a sub-ohm device correctly. I know it did for me and 40w lung hits through a flavor RDA produces much more flavor for me then mouth to lung did with my Nautilus. Even lung hitting my Atlantis has more flavor. Mouth to lung is how vaped for my first four months and is how I smoked for 25 years.

well
we are making progress here.
Today I bought a Russian and a kayfun V2 clone, and will be trying those out.
The kangers have way too much airflow for me on one hole, same goes for the Arctic I tried.
The kanger vapes hot with no air open. Pity they do not have 1/2 a hole possibility.
Will be following up shortly when all this stuff arrives.

lung inhales were always normal for me.. but then again.. i have quite a history with another smoked plant material that likely made it an easier transition. lung hits are where i really noticed flavors starting to pop and realized this was a lot of the magic that i had been missing.

Coil building is easy.. and its hard. it can be hard to get things consistently built over and over.. it can be hard to get 2 coils to fire exactly the same.. but it takes like 30 secs to 1 min to build a coil. on a decent deck (depends on the rba/rda) it takes another minute or 2 to install the coils. so its not a long drawn out labor or anything.

kanthal is cheap.. and if you screw up.. you wasted only a couple pennies. heck i do most of my builds here at work.. and if it took a lot of time.. i most certainly could not. it helps that the office truly enjoys the fact that i vape. i make the place smell better... like a dang yankee candle factory.

I don't sub ohm anymore for a number of reasons, first of all is 'I didn't like it all that much'.
Also I'm a lazy old geezer, and I had to make almost three times as much juice to sub ohm vape. For what?!? So that I could wash windows 3 times as often!!!!

So sub ohm/high wattage vaping just doesn't make any sense to me, especially since I know how to get the same great flavor without doing sub ohm.

For the OP: you've been around since 2009 so you should know about carto tanks by now. Why are you still trying out the "children's toys"???

    hehe! :p

My coworkers like the vaping as well. They are all really cool about it. They say my delicious clouds of wonderfulness make the office smell nice, so I drip away at my desk all day. lol Haven't touched my tank in a couple months.

Just thought it was funny....your post seemed to be defensive when someone mentioned people are suggesting the OP change their vape style.
If it came off as defensive it's because the usual recommendations aren't what worked for me and I'm throwing it out there that everyone is different.

haha.. me too! one of my managers is regularly coming up and asking what flavor im vaping today.. and im like its flavors man.. flavors! note the pluralization. i actually got into dripping before i tried a proper tank. (best 'tanks' i had were clearomizers like vivi nova and the iclears and protanks) and after starting dripping i really didnt want to do anything else. i like changing flavors too much. ive never really had vapers tongue bc i mix things up all the time. (like have 6-7 rotating juices just at the office :p)

I haven't gotten into sub-ohm vaping yet, so I can't comment there. What I can comment on is in general moving from smaller cloud sizes to larger ones (ie the transition from ego style batteries to more powerful mod) and I have found that while the nic levels can be lowered with larger hits, going too low can be a drastic setback. Again, this is coming from someone who has not at all tried out the sub-ohm craze (not that I'm against it, but I was inactive for over a year and am very much behind the times, that and I don't need to spend hundreds more dollars on equipment when my old school style of vaping is still all I need) but for my old lady and I, vaping is still first and foremost a nicotine delivery system. I enjoy the flavors from vaping, and it is definitely a full-blown hobby again, but in the past lowering nic levels too drastically too soon has lead to the occasional coffin nail to get the fix we need, and that my friends is a slippery slope indeed. Again, that's just my experience as someone who vapes primarily for the nicotene.

Adjusting airflow, V/W, I also like to do what was called a French hit in the old days is to bring the vapor into my mouth letting it naturally come out of the mouth and inhale through the nose. As I teenager we did this with Cigarettes. A much more pleasurable experience when performed with Vapor. I am not a cloud chaser like to keep my vape on the cool side.

No, please do not get me wrong... I have had many carto's since 2007. I think i even wrote a whole post on how to wick old 801 pen styles and 501 atomizers back then.
What I have never tried is building coils and sub-ohm vaping. Back then, building coils was unheard of.
It was only looking for some new atomizers and tanks a few weeks ago that i was "duped" (conned my own self) into this sub-ohm big-clouds-of vapor fill your lungs to capacity stuff. Which I can understand that some people like, but for me it's not for me. The difference to me, is like taking a sip of wine and swooshing it around the palate as opposed to gulping down a whole bottle. It's a question of finding the correct airflow tank for my needs then building a few coils. From what I gather i will probably end up with a 1.3~1.5 ohm device with a tighter draw, which will allow me to take a nice cool 5 second mouth inhale.
As for liquids, I have been making my own from scratch since 2007, and my house looks more like a laboratory than anything else. So it's pretty easy to modify viscosity and taste. I'm just a bit ......ed on the coil building front and new tank technology department.

quovadis, what you're looking for is out there, you just have to find it and I think you will quite quickly because you know what you want :)

If you want to explore making coils I think the Kayfun type attys will be good for you. If you want to stay away from making coils cartos and clearos are still pretty good.

I started vaping in 2012, kudos to you for making it work for you in 2007. From what I know about it that took staying power and I salute you for that!

    Vape on my friend :toast:
