I was going to file mine down as well, that notched center post will gouge the hell outta your battery connector, but i dont see the point now, i cant get any of the 3 included coils working. The 1.8 ohm did get a full glowing coil on the preburn but still not getting any flavor. $15 bucks in the trash, lovely!

time to move on to testing the phoenix bottom coils.

ok just pooped another random head onto it, taste was off, ill play around and see whats going on.

update:: did my normal thing to it, juiced the coil, burnt that off, filled and vaped, good to go so far.

I did that to both of the coils ive tried, juiced and burned it 10 times, and it slightly reduced the bad flavor but the bad flavor still overpowered the juice i had in the tank... btw anyone else notice that 1 wick is not inside the coil? its just kind of sitting on the top of the coil

If your experience with the phoenix bottom coil is like mine, you won't be disapointed... filled upside down till it was full, infact just a littleoverfull (had a drop or so come out the center tube, then vaped it... it was like filling a boge up and vaping it, amazing flavor, good vapor and th was def there.

not to mention when i switched flavors all i had to do was vape it dry and put the new flavor in and didnt get any mentionable amount of the last flavor that was in the phoenix

Thats the exact same thing that all 3 of my coils do... and it comes with vapor (which is actually a very good amount of vapor, but a terrible flavor... and i dont know if you took it off, or if mine are messed up but my coils have 1 wick sitting above the coils, not wrapped in any way

My experience with genesis style atty's tells me this is the problem. You can have a saturated wick and coil providing nice vapor while the resistance wire glows elsewhere and it will cause nasty dry hits. You can't have any glowing at all. This is the same problem I had with the stardusts I tried. The wire would glow at the connection.

so its quality control issue... and how can i fix it? or do i have to wait for Gotvapes and vision to fix it?

IF the problem is with the coils... spread them with a needle so there is just a little space between each coil... do it gently.

My first one I tried was the 2.4 ohm coil that came preinstalled on the unit. It worked as advertised and only needed to be vaped for a little while before it came into it's own. I vaped 2 tanks before I decided to switch to a different ohm head to see how it worked...

I selected the the 2.8 ohm next in hopes to up my wattage a little with a cooler running coil. The flavor was a bit off and harsh. I emptied the tank and washed it out so I could inspect the coil.... dried out the wick and then did a dry burn... I saw the same thing described earlier where the main part of the coil wasn't glowing and the wires under it were... I spread out the coil slightly and refilled. Right at first... the flavor was again good and worked similar to the first 2.4 ohm coil... but it quickly returned to the odd harsh flavor. I recleaned the unit and again I found the main coil itself not glowing but the wires below were... so I spread them out again... and again after filling the performance had returned.

So it does seem that what the other guys had found... may be a part of the issues that have been reported by others... at least in the case of the unit I've had an issue with.

I went ahead and ripped open one of my bad heads and made and installed my own coil. I just ran it down the tube and reinserted the plug and then wrapped the other wire around the top and put the silicone cap back on. Works like a dream with the new coil installed. The idea is excellent just needs some quality control issues handled.

Huh. I just checked my funky coil, and it does the same thing. Maybe that's it in a nutshell. Some small quirk in the production line and a few funky coils. If that's it, then that's not much of a problem. I'll buy a few more coils when they show up and that's that.

Totally agree. Damn, I wish I could replace the coil innards like you guys do. Even if I wanted to try, I don't have the materials. Can someone point me to where to get this stuff? Wire and wick and such? I think I'd like to learn how to do this...

China,,Briar,,,,,but there are suppliers who sell wick, not gonna mention them here in this thread though its not right to do so.,,,,,,,,,,,, removing wick isnt the solution in my opinion, but adding the same wick that is used in the Stone tank has made a difference for me,,this wick is in a lot of different stuff now a days, even the old vision carto's,,,,, these coils are so easily rebuilt it isn't funny, what Gotvapes gave us here in this tank is a great tank to mod and make your wick and coil however you want it guys, You can even set an extra piece of the 2mm on top of the new one you mod if you want extra juice going to the coil but not really necassary to do, the single piece of 2mm Silica is perfect in my opinion.....just remove that bottom center pin and grommet. and re-wrap your own wick if you want to adjust these to whatever ohm and wick you want,,,, heck you could even use a small strand of the XC-116 wick if you want more TH or even do a mesh coil in these which I might give a shot tomorrow on,,, but all in all I'm really happy with the 2mm Silica wick and doing my own coil to whatever ohm I want in these, it's very simple to do.

Oh, sorry, I didn't think it was un-cool to ask about stuff that GV doesn't sell...

I agree - the ViVi is a great tank, and the fact that it's modular is fantastic. The tank body build seem to be very good - no leaking, feels solid, and looks good.

I'm not much of a tinkerer - but the ViVi looks like a great "tinkee". Enough to tempt even me. :) I will give coil-rebuilding a shot shortly, and see how it goes. Thanks.
