My doctor told me that I had a vitamin D deficiency, but it was completely unrelated to vaping. I had the symptoms long before I switched. It's because I'm mostly indoors and don't drink a lot of milk. My hair was falling out by the handfuls and I felt tired all the time. Since I started taking a multi-vitamin and a D supplement, my hair has stopped falling out and I have more energy. I also changed my diet and I'm eating better now.

If you think about it, you probably had symptoms long before you started vaping, too.

My Dr. just suggested I start taking Vit. D/Calcium because of a new study about agressive breast cancer with a low level and how women with low Vit D levels don't respond well to treatment for breast cancer. Many doctors are hyper aware, so now are testing for it.

Since you are in Indiana, you probably don't go out much in the winter time? Sun is important (I probably have too much here in Arizona, ha). Age, diet, Celiac disease (malabsorbtion), lactose intolerance and other things can be a cause.

Always good to check out everything and of course, tell your physician about e-cigs, the ingredients and if you are still smoking (which can cause D deficiency to begin with!).

As stated by Plooker, this is a common diagnosis as a result of new research. FYI, "D" is a hormone and not a vitamin but it is marketed as a vitamin. I also was diagnosed with D deficiency and was given a strong one week RX dosage to bring the levels back up. I was also instructed to take over-the-counter daily D to maintain levels. LOL @ Cil. It's called a SUN. HAHA...

Here in Surprise (yeah, that's really the name of my city) I get plenty of sun. Today I slathered on sunscreen and took the convertible for a spin to do errands. It was 85 degrees and lovely!

I'll send some Arizona sun your way to England in a few months. It starts to be sucky here in July and August anyway (120 degrees anyone?). The best part is the Arizona sunset...

Send it back when you're through? :)

I was Dx with Vit D deficiency a couple years ago. They gave me a Rx dose of VitD for a few weeks. I started taking about 2,500 IU of Vit D and was still low at my next check. Now I take 5,000 IU daily. The crazy thing was that I sat outside all the time chain smoking, so I got plenty of sun (not as much in GA as AZ, but still quite a bit as we're always in a drought).
