Like someone stated before, dry burning periodically will dramatically extend the lifespan of the clearos. So once the draw gets too hard don't go dumping them on the trash, a wash and dry burn can turn back the clock on them. All you need is manual battery. Seems to me these things can last much longer than the 2-3 weeks advertised :)

Do you rinse them again and allow them to dry after dry burning? Or just dry burn and refill?

Well I hit 4 weeks with 1 clearomizer and the vapor has diminished. The flavor still comes through but it doesn't produce the huge clouds of vapor I was getting with it. I am not a refurbisher so it is going in the trash but I am very happy with them. I keep 2 or 3 of them going all the time with different flavors. So far, no cracks or leaks on any flavors and I use mostly fruity flavors like strawberry, watermelon, blueberry, and other fruit combos but I stay away from banana based on others posts.

I've had 3 in rotation for 3 weeks and they've all performed perfectly. Only had to wash one out so far, the one with the thicker juice that got gucky around the wicks. I dry burned after and simply refilled it. Didn't taste right. Washed it out again, dry burned, then rinsed it once more. Filled it this morning and works like new. I guess dry burning introduces some burned out residue in your next fill if you don't wash that out again.

OMG, don't throw them away! They're just a dry burn away from being restored like new

At least stash them in a box for future emergencies. Or better yet, pass them along to folks who don't mind dry burning them.

I rinse after every tank and dry burn almost that often. It's simple and you don't have to take anything apart. Just look down the center and hold the button about 5 seconds at a time, (I think Rave said she does 10) It'll start smoking soon and just keep pressing the button and blowing the smoke away until it stops and the coil glows red. Slack up on holding the button and keep turning the coil red a few times. Let it cool and rinse again to get the nasty ash out and fill it. It'll vape like a brand new one. Took a lot longer to type this then it does to actually do it. The more often you dry burn the better it'll produce vapor and the cleaner the niquids will taste. If the coil doesn't pop during a dry burn they'll last a heck of a long time. I've never popped one but I have popped a couple of attys back in the day lol. Sure glad attys and ego tanks are a thing of the past for me although some folks are still using and enjoying them. Most of my vaping is done on 78mm with standard cartos. I like the basic simple life as a rule but the clearos have their place. They're a whole lot better than dripping on an atty to try new juices for one thing. I hate dripping.

Do you rinse it, leave to dry completely - THEN dry burn? I'm a bit hazy on step one.

Nope. I never bother to let them dry. The coil is a great dryer. I thermometer shake it a few times, blow through it and screw it on the battery then start pushing buttons. Nothing will happen the first few times other than a hissing sound. Next it will start smoking as it burns the crud off. Next the smoking will slow down and the coil will start glowing. At this point I do shorter presses but closer together and keep it glowing slightly until stops smoking completly. Let it cool a few seconds and rinse the ash out. After that I shake and blow them out again, then fill them. I used to use canned air but Rave told me they put bitterant in it to keep kids from inhaling it so I stopped. The first few hits are getting rid of the water with no flavor or vapor then it kicks in and I'm good to go again. Sorry if I'm being over descriptive and making it sound harder than it is but it's worth a try for anybody. If done properly the results are absolutley amazing on something you thought was ready for the garbage. The reason I do it so often, probably more often than it needs, is that the flavor and production diminish slowly over a period of time. I like to keep the flavor fresh. I'm pretty sensitive to flavor and a new carto doesn't taste right to me. I think they come with a vg primer or something and need a break in of a tank or so to get rid of the slight taste most people probably wouldn't notiice. Clearos are great about crossover when rinsed out thoroughly unless you use a niquid with a "stubborn" flavor like cinnamon or coffee that are hard to get rid of. Even then a vodka or vinegar soak will usually tame them.

I'll bet CindyCated would love to get her hands on a few that were headed for the trash. She should be made the official SI carto resurector. I sure pay attention when she posts information.

Let me know how it works if you don't mind. I just assemble information I've gathered and tried since I started vaping in hopes it will help somebody. My first vaporizer used atomizers and carts. What a pain that was. We had to clean and dry burn the attys, often popping them or burning the wick. The little carts were awful and there were countless ways to mod the filler to make them work. Next came the Ego tanks which were supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. (I've always wondered what the greatest thing before sliced bread was) I bought quality ones from a great vendor and didn't have much trouble with them other than it was a major task to disassemble them, clean and dry burn and reassemble them. It was a crap shoot every time on the wick adjustment. Next were the 510 cartos. Never could tell when they were low on juice until the burnt taste. Once that taste got in there it was all over. Some of them tasted nasty from the get go anyway. Last August I stumbled on the Official Si thread and started reading from the start. By the time I got to the current conversation I jumped in and found out everything I had heard about cig like vaporizers was wrong. Love at first vape. My days of having to spend hours fiddling with stuff so I could vape the next day were over. Now when I do it it's more like hobby work than necessity. Opened the box, screwed on a carto and started vaping. It was so simple I almost felt guilty lol.

Yep. Since it's meant to stop people from inhaling it, it's probably not good to spray it into vaping gear. :)

I build computers and stopped using canned air many years ago because it was just too expensive as I was going through at least 3 or 4 cans a week.
Now I use a rechargeable Coleman Quickpump I picked up at Walmart for about $30. Trim the little square piece off the cone attachment and it works great both for blowing out computers and vaping accessories. Just keep it clean so you aren't blowing dust around (or rig up an air filter on the intake) and it works great. I've had mine for about 4 years now and it's still going which has saved me thousands on canned air with no additives to worry about.

Got a question..are you supposed to turn the clearomizers upside-down to wet the wick?? If so, how often should you do that?

Don't have to turn them upside down. Just sideways. And do it as often as you can. Mine usually go 4 or 5 hits before it starts to get dry and scratchy. But it's rarely a problem as I always hold my PV horizontally anyway.
