Well.... I have 2 autos... so I'll just keep the clearos and get a manual when the purple ones come in. Oh no, I'll have to buy another X2. LOL
why buy a manual X2 if you prefer autos? just buy a manual 78, or 65 for that matter. either will accomplish the same thing and much cheaper. i have a manual 78 that is only used for dry burning. it will be there in case of emergency, as well.

I had been rinsing mine every 3-4 fills, and performance was starting to decline after about 4 weeks. So I tried Rave's method of pulling the metal stem/pipe out with the bootie attached. Then dry-burned as prescribed by Wuzz, then rinsed. Success!!! Oh, and I treated the "starter cracks" that were developing, with super glue, as related by TK. (Am I the last person on earth to discover that super glue now comes with a brush, in a re-seal-able bottle?)
Re-rejuvenated giant clearos. This is just fantastic. :toast:

CatLady, I did the same thing.....followed Rave's directions for pulling out the stem and the thingie that comes out with it, then followed Wuzz's directions for dry burning and then rinsed it out again. This morning I filled it back up and it's working great!

I was a little bit afraid to pull that part out of the clearo, but I trust Rave, so I went ahead and did it. lol

Same here with same results. I haven't experienced any cracks so far. It will be interesting to find out how long the clearos will ultimately last with this maintenance. There must be some that are heading toward the 2 month mark now.

I have to say that the blue clearo with the dark blue tip looks cool. Can't wait for the blue x2 to complete my ensemble. We need purple drip tips for the purple ensemble too.

I actually don't know that I prefer autos, I've just always used autos. I figure it can't hurt to try one. OK, OK, it's really just an excuse to justify getting yet another battery OK?

By the way. I did get the extra longer cord I asked for in the notes on my order as well. YAY!!!!! Thank you..... ummm I think it says Jeff.

I hate to admit it, but when I go out I spend more time color coordinating my Volts than I do my clothes.

This might be a dumb question but do you take the thingy out first, rinse, dry burn, rinse again then put thingy back in?

Not a dumb question at all.

I rinsed, took the thingy out, dry burned, rinsed again and then put the thingy back in. But I don't see why you couldn't do it in the order you said. Maybe someone who is an expert on thingies will be along and let us know.

The thing is, if you take your thingie out first, then the thingie won't get rinsed, or you could rinse your thingie later, the thing is, ya got to rinse your thingie, 1st Things 1st...ok, I'm done with this thing.

Oh my!

Well, I don't pretend to be an expert on anything, let alone "thingies", but:

I take the mouth piece off,
Take my thingie out,
rinse out the excess nicquid,
dry burn,
rinse again gently so that you don't dislodge the wick and coil, (this gets out ash and burned up crud)
blow it out from the battery end,
another quick dry burn to get excess water off of the wick and coil,
Coil up the end of a paper towel and wick out as much condensation as possible,
and reinsert thingie.

Some folks refill right away, but I let mine sit in a sunny window sill for a bit so the new nicquid is less likely to taste like what a dirty sock smells like. It's all a matter of preference.
