Just bought one and yes it worked well for the first 4 or 5 hours..then it started shorting out..the VV adjustment was to high in the box and when you put on the back it would move it and push down on it and it started shorting out. I contacted MV and it took them 3 days to respond and then they want me to send it back for repair whitch it will take a week or longer to get it fixed and then if it takes them as long to shipp it back to me as it did to originaly ship it add 4 more days ,,, now we are up to abour 12 to 14 days with out vapeing....and they also want me to pay my own shipping back to them..where is this great CS i hear about....I am new to vaping about 6 weeks in and i just droped 206.00 with MV and i get crap in CS... i waited for them to answer the ticket and once they did on monday they just assumed it was resolved with out any responce from me... i reopened the ticket and waited ALL day and no response and even tried to call them 17 times that day and no answer.. Custome Service..HUMMMMMMMM... Still working, but when I put pressure w/my hand on the battery cover it doesn't fire. Not sure why, and I hope it doesn't get worse. I just have to hold it a certain way when pushing the button. Other than that vapes great!

It is the VV adjustment it has a short in .. Mine did that 3 to 4 hours after reciveing it

I happen to agree with Redneck. If a device is sent out and it's inoperable, or overheating, within days of the customer receiving it, I kind of feel the right thing would be for the vendor to send a replacement ASAP, and also pay for return shipping.

I also wanted to post that I received my MV Variable Volt mod with indicator about a week ago, and have been using it now for three or four days (had to wait for batteries).

So far, it's been excellent!

I don't have any of the overheating problems some people have reported. I don't chain vap, but I will take three or four quick draws, and haven't noticed ANY heat from the box.

It's been working excellently! Fantastic vapor, easy to change voltage with your fingers, no need for a screwdriver, and battery life has been fantastic! I threw some freshly charged batts in it yesterday, around 7am. I used it almost exclusively, with only the occasional vapes off of my ProVari with drip tip when I felt like switching to another juice.

It's now nearly 9am, the following day, and it's still going strong. Not sure how much longer it'll last today, but so far, battery life has been outstanding. (I often go to amusement parks with my kids, and really wanted a lightweight device that I could throw a tank on, put a freshly charged set of batteries in and be confident it will get me through a full day, from 7am until past midnight, without needing to replace batts. I think this will fit the bill!)

Sorry others are having issues, but I did want to post that, so far, mine has been working great, and I'm really pleased with the purchase.

Also love the built in Volt indicator! Nice not having to attach a separate indicator.

Hope everyone who's having issues get them resolved quickly, and end up enjoying this device as much as I currently am.

Yikes.. Didn't realize that there are a few of these boxes with problems. We're really want to get them fixed up for you guys and I've passed along that we're going to send replacements with return envelopes for any defective ones. If you paid for shipping to ship one back, then we can credit you with points. This only applies to VV mods with indicator..

I want to explain about our return policy and how we got here.

In the past, we used to mail a return envelope with a return envelope inside for just about every return. As Madvapes grew and the vaping community grew, this became a bit cost prohibitive and we had to adhere to more conventional return policies, not because of the cost or the time involved but because more than 90% of the items we received back worked and we found it was better to try and resolve the problems rather than just return everything.

With all the variations of e-cigs, resistances, connectors, batteries, cartomizers, atomizers, tanks, filling, etc.. There are bound to be folks with incompatible products as well as defective products.

I know with computers I think I'm a know it all, so when I call tech support on something I'm usually skeptical about taking basic steps which I feel that I've already taken but with an attitude, I follow the step by step, rebooting, clearing cache, etc and more times than not my problem is resolved by listening to the tech on the end of the phone. Irritates the crap out of me that I can't figure it out myself but I'm usually happy or have an action plan when the call is done.

Well, same things with e-cigs. Everyone is an expert, including myself :). When we respond to a ticket with suggestions of things to try, it's not because we're trying to delay, cheat or defraud anyone of a working product. We are offering honest suggestions that will fix the problem 98% of the time but you have to help us by actually trying the suggestions and not assuming that we're blowing smoke up your .... Madvapes does very well as a company and we are not cheap when it comes to customer satisfaction as it really is our top priority with fast shipping and accuracy of orders coming in 2nd.

A perfect example of repeat ticket items is cartomizers. Despite our no warranty, no return policy on cartomizers, we still get tickets on these every day.. They taste burnt, they don't work, the vapor production is bad, they have a primer taste to them and the list goes on and on.. In 2.5 years and handling and testing thousands are cartomizers personally, I have yet to come across a DOA carto. I've come across some that wouldn't work (wrong resistance or bad connection), ones that tasted burnt (wrong resistance or not enough liquid) and of course I've burnt up a few by putting a 1.7 ohm on a 7.4 volt device. But never one that was just dead out of the package. As you all know also, cartomizers have no primer so a bad tasting carto is either underfilled or has a bad tasting juice put into it.

In the scheme of all things, when we offered a warranty on cartomizers, there are people that take advantage of that in an endless cycle of ' the last cartomizers I ordered were bad' and then we'd send new ones.. The next week, 'the last cartomizers you sent me were bad' and we'd send more new ones. We finally went to a policy where we wanted the bad cartos back first before sending a return. We'd get back cartomizers that were used, paint scraped off, wrong model and brand new and working. It was a real bummer and a waste of both your time and ours.

Even with our current policy of no refunds or warranty on cartomizers, we'll still get tickets that say '8 out of 10 cartomizers were DOA'. Stuff like this doesn't make sense and you all know how 510 connectors can be, so we send out a troubleshooting list which some folks pay attention to and resolve the problem and others respond with dis-belief that we even suggest that they need to adjust the center pin on a 510 connector because they've never had to do it before.

Soon, we'll probably go to a policy of no warranties on atomizers like others have just because of the variations in using them. When someone wants a nice hot vape and throws a 2 ohm atty on thier 7 volt device, it's typically gonna burn up. Doesn't mean that we sell crap atomizers just because your last one lasted 2 months. We've experienced the same results as with cartos, getting back well used atties, wrong type, colors we don't carry, etc.

Right now we have a guy taking up resources by arguing that USPS priority mail service does not take 3 to 5 days but only takes 2 to 3 days. He's called 4 times today and has sent in 5 tickets. You may get your package sooner but our experience shows 3 to 5 days average.

One last topic.. Phones and tickets.. We have several phone numbers but it's really much more reliable to log a ticket if you are having a product issue. Phones are great for sales and to help troubleshoot but we can only add so many phone resources here and when you call, if it's during office hours, and don't get an answer it's usually that we're on the phone and unable to answer. We have more people working on tickets than on the phones. Monday is our busiest ticket day, with tickets backed up from the weekend so please be patient, we'll always do the right thing to resolve the issue.

Anyway sorry for the rant and if you guys are having problems with the VV boxes, we want to get that resolved asap for you. But we are going to ask a few questions to ensure compatibilty of all the items being used. There are a lot of variables with VV devices and things that can cause problems: manufacturing defects :(, wrong ohm atty at too high of a voltage popping the protection on batteries, too low of a voltage causing excessive heat, etc.. These are all things we want to talk about to help resolve the problem as quickly as possible but we need to determine that the product is indeed bad before we can just send one out so we need you folks to work with us a little and we'll get things fixed up asap.

Again, sorry for the rant..

Hello. I am going to open a ticket on this also but thought i'd start here in case someone has a quick fix idea to help me out. I have the VV box mod in black and I loved this thing. However yesterday, i received new batteries of the exact same kind from madvapes.. the Trustfire 14500 3.7V. I put them in as I figured the older ones needed charged, they had been in there over a day. So, after putting the new ones in, something terrible has started occuring. no matter what Voltage i have this set on, usualy low at 3.5 or 3.3 or so with a correct cartomizer (have tried several different kinds, all doing this), the box mod starts sizzling the cartomizer continuously even without me pushing the button to take a vape. What in the world is happening, it gets very hot and sizzles and nothing i can do but quickly turn it off. I'm so upset because this has become my favorite to use! (and i have even a provari) so also for more info the lights and numbers on the indicator go nuts.. blinking and voltage going far down like it never did before. I went and put the old batteries in right away thinking oh no, its the batteries, but whatever this is, its a problem to stay right now.

Can someone help me out please? I want to use this... like right now and really don't like it sizzling at all. Never did I have a problem until yesterday.. i think i've had this less than a monh. And I did order another because its on sale, even better price but i'd love to be able to have them both running. Please help if anyone can.

Thanks!

Also I guess when i reordered today, I managed not to get exact VV box mod because I didn't order the one with voltage indicator. So can someone tell me what the difference is.. surely it will tell me what voltage i'm setting it at, right? I'll be just fine if it does. And I hope this ships asap so I have one to use... thanks.

Hootie,
No, the VV box without voltage indicator does NOT show you what voltage you're at... that's why MadVapes added a box WITH voltage indicator.

Many people feel they don't really need to know if the voltage is at 4.3, or 4.7, or 5.1, all they need to do is take a vap, and if it's too hot, dial it down, and if it's too cool or too weak of a vape, dial it up. I personally do like to know what setting it's at, but that's me.

MadVapes does sell a seperate voltage meter, which you can screw into the atty connection, and use that to read the voltage, but it's a bit of a hassle, and when you're out and about, unless you bring it with you, you won't know what voltage your device is at when you change it.

As for the problem with your device, I'm no expert, but it sounds like your button is stuck.

I'd go to the MadVape site and open a ticket, and let them know about the problem. If your device is less then 30 days old, I believe it's under warranty.

In any case, I'm sure MadVapes will take care of it!

I just ordered a vv metered box mod from Mad Vapes. I hope it doesn't have some of the problems that some have had with their mod but if I do I'm confident they'll correct the problem thru suggestions or returns. I must have ordered hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of stuff this past year from them(including tube modes, atomizers, cartermizers, tanks, adaptors, meters, eliquid etc etc. Only once did I have to open a ticket (sent me a wrong item). They promply sent me the correct item and did not ask for the wrong item back. They have given me great customer support. It looks like they are monitoring this thread as well and have showed honest concern about the people who are having problems with their vv metered box mod. I hope the problems that some people are experiencing with their mods gets resolved quickly!

I have had the VV with meter for a couple days now and am VERY impressed (to say the least) it rocks! I've vaped from 3.2-6v without ANY issues at all, the 900 mAh trustfire flames I also bought are lasting over 24 hours for me (counting sleep time ) and don't take too long to charge considering. I'm well pleased and have no doubt I will order from MV over and over again!

Mad Vapes ROCKS!

Have you opened a ticket with Mad Vapes? They are aware that some of the VV mods have issues and are willing to work with you as I understand it.

I still was trying to use the VV and reached the point it doesn't fire up at all and gets hot. Tested two sets of the batteries and one in each sets was compleatly drained (~0.2v) but the other is still holding the charge (~3.4v).
