Understood. The poly is covering the wood surface. I like the wax on mine. I like the UV protection also. I have made some of the older REO's with the poly coat shine by using the wax. None of the finishes show they have been harmed in any way by the Howard's wax.

Everyone can use their own judgement and decide. Robert did say a damp cloth would be fine for cleaning.
And I'm super late in the game, but you are always welcome to PM Rob if you have a question about what finish was used on your mod.

Trying to get a representation of WOOD colors here. Hard, very hard. Focus not as important as color.

If you have a issue in the difference in color of some of the REOs when matched against the pics on the site then PM Rob. He is the expert. PMing me doesn't get you anything but an opinion which I can give HERE in this thread.

Some of these mods will darken as the finish cures. Most of them, the color won't change drastically, just deepen to a richer tone...in my experience. My first cocobolo mod was a rich red....but after a few weeks of use, it darkened to a deep espresso color. It is still my favorite mod, even though I can't seem to put this silly VV Woodvil down for the life of me :laugh:

Um....well....I guess...um.... A LOT! But still using my other woods too. Two hits off the VV then put it down and grab another wood. Have got hiccups a couple times, and nauseated a couple times already! Dang it! I need lower nic for it!

I warned you about that

most of the problems with pics seem to be those using internet explorer. try firefox i haven't had any problems

I have virtually zero issues with Chrome when other people are having various issues. I've been using it, on Win PCs, since its inception. Can't use it on my old iBook and Powerbook because have to have >OSX 10.5x and they can't go any higher. It takes a little getting used to because it is so sleek. But IE is getting that way, too.

it's something to do with the notcig chip I can't give the tech behind it I read it before but it never sunk in

The regulator is crazy efficient. It almost defies logic. -- davelog did a good job describing what a buck regulator does, so no need to detail voltage step-down.

I will say that this regulator is probably the most efficient non-pwm buck regulator I've ever seen in any device (and lots of different equipment I work on for a living contain buck regulators). It stays cooler than any non-pwm I've used. In fact, it stays cooler than most pwm and in fact, outperforms many of them that I'm familiar with.

I just finished my first bottle and my batts (AW IMR 18350s) are still going strong. I intended to use a higher ohm atty to start out with, but I grabbed the wrong one and ended up putting my VV Woodville out to her maiden voyage with LR. I have a 1.8 ohm Cisco 306 on and it feels like about 4.0v (I'll edit right here: I decided to meter it and I was right - 4.04v). It took me 11 1/2 hours to drain the bottle. That's about what I usually vape in 16 hours (new toy - vaped hard all day). And, I left the mod on the whole time. Even at lower voltage, that's impressive battery life. Consuming 6ml + on a charge is a wonderful thing. All day juice supply + all day battery life = WIN!

Hi Lisa. See you all later. So much fun to see when people get their new REOs. I'm gonna post a few pics in Family Album and head to TV and sleepy land. Have a good "rest of" Fine Folk.

Love and Hugs, Feisty Alice

Hi Alice :)

Ack! Panic post! Quick rundown: received VV Woodvilles today and threw one into my carry on bag with batts, etc. for assembly after arriving at my destination. Assemble and prime atty, add drip tip, install juice bottle, install batteries. Get some lovely puffs and decide to go read ECF for a little while with a few puffs on the side. And then:

THE MOD IS FIRING ON ITS OWN AT RANDOM INTERVALS. I'm glad I didn't have it in my pocket (or worse, in another room or in storage) when this happened; it was just seating on the couch next to me. Double checked that the firing button wasn't stuck (it wasn't) so I turned the on/off switch to "off" and then back to "on"...and the random firing resumes just as soon as I set it back down. Please, somebody help me! I can't have a mod that "decides" to suddenly become very very hot and put tremendous stress on expensive batteries and expensive atomizers!

How is this circuit being completed without human intervention?? Some sort of short across the switch wires? Or is there some other point of failure that I haven't considered. I want to use my new toy but it's very much scaring me at the moment!!

Alice, that birdseye is beautiful !!! My eyeballs were attached to some of those....but, I think i do better with the metal Reo's. clumsy hands.

Thanks Girlie. I'm gonna go get my Birdeye Mini right now. Back in a second............ I went and got it, took it in to kitchen, and then realized....... the VVs are Spalted, not Birdseye. DUH!!!!! I've only been drooling for Spalted for many, many, many months!!!! Need sleep. But thanks anyway. I knew this already but Robert did warn everyone that Spalted, unstabilized, is really delicate. I won't be casually carrying them around. I'll take them out in the car, carried in padded area of purse, but not out and about at home. Robert won't even let me "test" the Curly Oak VV in the spa to see if it survives "swimming." We know the Woodvil can but not so sure about the chip. He told me to do my "swimming testing" with my Buzz Pro.:D

You've probably seen me say this at least a hundred times...... The Silver is the best color because dings, scratches, gouges don't show up as well because the aluminum is the same color as the Silver. Robert keeps telling me I need to designate one REO as a "rough work" REO. I think it will be a Silver VV. See, that's the problem having the older ones that are almost pristine. They are akin to works by Masters of long ago. DH took my early Silver Grand out of town this weekend. I loaned it to him while I was cleaning his silver travel Mini. He likes the hit from Grand better. He promised he wouldn't ever leave one in a rent car again. He has good intentions but..... So as soon as I pick him up VV Curly Oak is hitting his hand. But I'm not sure I'll let him take it out of town. He may have to suffer, for three days a week, and use his travel Mini.

Great to see you around more. Huggies, Alice

BTW.... I was so drooling over the Birdseye VV Woodvils but I had already "commissioned" the 801 Spalted and I'm extremely pleased with them and we do have the Birdeye Mini. I know this seems ridiculous for me to say but I do have to put some limits on buying REOs so I can pay the bills. And three, for the two of us, is reasonable. That gives each of us 0.5 backup VV Woodvil.
