I finally have rescued mine from the evil clutches of Canada Post.

I must say I do like it. Hitting a boge SR just above the 5v range right now with some tasty Geoff's Blend. YUM!

Now for a serious question (and Rob or anyone else please do not take offense to anything I ask). This is my first stabilized woodvil.
Is the finish suppose to have little divots in it? When I hold it to light I can see like little craters in the wood/finish.
Also does anyone else have an issue with the door hitting the VV wheel when sliding it shut?

The stabilized burl can have little holes or divits. Mine has it. Some are bigger, some tiny. I don't know if it is from the stabilization process or the nature of the burl.

Have not had a problem with the door hitting the wheel.

Great to know. I assume it was suppose to be like that but I wasn't sure so I thought I would ask the experts.

As for the wheel  Its like 1/2 a mm out and "just" catching when I slide the door up. My main concern is if I am going to damage it somehow.

I think it's the burl because my redwood burl has divits in him - Gives him character. I can also feel his wood grain.

I am gonna send it out tomorrow priority shipping. I was just POed cause I was so excited to use it.It is my first ever bottom feeder. I have a question tho about the whole coffee bath and waxing thing. Mine device didn't have a smell at all when I got it so I don't need to do the coffee bath, correct? Or do I need to do it to wax it? And what wax should I use and how do I apply it? All over inside and out or just inside? I know these things wont be getting done till I get it back from Rob but wanted to have the equipment and know how to get it done as soon as it gets back to me.

Mine didn't have any smell at all. To be 100% honest none of mine ever had. :)

As soon as mine started firing on it's own.. I took the batts out, the carto off and boxed it up to send back. I know it's a killer mod but I don't know about it being able to fix itself. If it does it once it may do it again. If I were you, I'd just bite the bullet and send it back and be sure. (and safe) :)

I know, I'm just giving it a wait and see test. So far, so good. Hasn't done it since Saturday morning and I've been using it a LOT. One more unprompted hiss out of it though and it goes back. :)

The coffee is for the odor from the poly coat. If it is too strong you can place it in coffee in a bag for a day or so to remove the smell.

Wax is not dependent on coffee! You want to apply the wax inside and outside. The outside does not allow the wax to soak in but will give some protection. Howard's Feed and Wax can be bought at your local home store or online. I get mine from Amazon. I get the SunShield for the UV protection.

Just apply the wax, a little bit with a q-tip to the insides. It will soak it up. A little on the outside and let dry for 30-min to an hour. I try to let mine sit overnight. Then just wipe off remaining wax and buff.

OK, how often should I do this or is it a one shot deal?

I also have a stabilized and have noticed the divits and knots that create holes in the finish. My only gripe with it is that there are some areas in the door that are affected by this and I feel like my door slides open super easy. Is there any way to fix that? I was thinking another magnet but wouldn't want to take any tools to this baby. Any chance Rob could do this for me? Or any other ideas

Some people have asked how to clean catch-cup of WOOD mods protecting the wood. I stick their wing-wangs through the wire mesh, with or without tube bottle cap on. I then scrub with humming bird feeder brush or DT brush with warmed 90% isopropyl alcohol. Alcohol warmed in pyrex measuring cup, in microwave, in 5 second burst till hot, but not too hot to touch. BE REALLY CAREFUL HEATING ALCOHOL IN MICROWAVE. IT CAN FLASH. You can use colander or whatever else the tube will fit through.

You can flush the tube with or without pressure using syringe.

Rewax after.

BTW... Those are two Walnuts and two Curly Oaks. Three 510 connectors and one 801 connector.

Burl wood has divots knots very few of the stabilized mods are free of these things. If you want your door to be tighter put a little super glue on the beveled part of your door wipe it with your finger let it dry this will tighten the door up . You may find when the weather changes your door will be to tight wood swells.

the doorbel...the mailman

he dumps a package in my hands and runs off

it's the howard feed & wax....

okay, so i now am really starting to worry, this was send (with first class mail) 1 or 2 days later then the vv's!
the track and trace is still not updating, so no clue whats happening at all :(

what to do?

When shipped out of the U.S. there are no updates till the package is scanned at a post office there. You should see tracking start again when it arrives at the post office.

the track and trace for the wax isn't updated either, while i allready have it
i have mailed rob allready :(

I totally understand I am currently waiting on the arrival of my original first pick VV Reo "Blaze" and while I do have my VV Reo Coco to enjoy I'm still extremely impatient to receive Blaze. We'll get through this together Jeann :)
