Congrats rasci, on the VV Woodvil.

How you been.

Yesterday was the first day in over 18 months that my Grand was not used. The VV Woodville is just so great and consistent that I now use in exclusively. I guess now all of my other REOs will be relegated to backup roles.

Yep the VV REO's Rock. :)

I am going to pick up a few of the VV Grands as well. Rob just keeps putting out better and better mods.

IMO he is truly the mod master in these parts.

Good to see you. If you need any thing feel free to PM me any time.

Hi Wayne

I've been good have been lurking on the VV Woodville thread just waiting like everyone else. Now that I've got one I now lurk on the VV Grand thread again awaiting the release of another great mod.

How much use are your other REOs getting? Mine are getting very neglected.:(
I just can't put this VV down!

I like the vv very much, but I still enjoy the grands and the woodville with the 4.8 batts in them. I keep all of mine loaded with different juices and it just depends on which juice I want which REO I reach for. So all of mine are still very much in rotation here. :)

I do love my VV Woodvil. But I still use my Grands for work. At home I still use my Woodvils, Mini Woodvil, Woodvil 18490, and my Wood REO. I am satisfied with the vape from the LR 1.5 atty's at 3.7. If I have been busy and not vaped in awhile I do grab the VV Woodvil first. I will vape a couple times then switch to another REO. It has it's place that's for sure!

I will pick up a VV Grand but will need to bring it and it's charger for work. That and another Grand will be nice!

My Grand has become my away-from-home mod, and I only vape unflavored in it now. I've gotten some comments at work about how people like the smell of my juice, and although I'm glad it doesn't offend them, it bothers me that they notice it at all - so, unflavored it be.

Now, once I get home, the Grand gets a refill and a fresh battery and then it's put aside until I go out again. The VV Woodvil is what I vape in the house, and it's full of my Cartoba/BWBMT blend. After sucking down flavorless all day, the VV Woodvil puts me smack dab in the middle of Flavor Country!

Thats exactly the way I'd like my REO lifestyle to be/ My wood REOs at home and a Grand to travel but Im hoping for a Grand or Grand/like metal REO with side button an big batt.

Find a nice glass door display case and display them as the fine works of art they are. I like being able to see and admire my "jewels." Have to keep them behind doors, though, because of dust.

Humidity whats that?
whoknows.gif

Last summer, during our record drought and missed-by-one-day consecutive days at or above 100, we had some low humidity that actually made the "heat index" or "feels like" several degrees less than actual temperature. Rare to have that here as even a small amount of humidity will make "heat index" higher than actual temps. We usually don't get as dry as Arizona but some days were way less than 20% and a few not much over 10%. BTW... the day after the 99F day temps went back up over 100. Really bummed out so many people that that day blew the chance for an all time record. 99 is not much relief so no joy in that.

How often should the Howards Feed N Wax be applied?

After a good 5-6 coats with a day in between, you should be good for at least a couple of weeks. What's the weather like where you live? Here it's always humid, so I don't really have to wax as much as I do, but after awhile, it became part of the routine. I am getting some Briwax in soon, so after you Howards them, you can seal it with a harder wax.

I also use my Grand at work. I leave the VVW's at home for in-home use. Soon, i will be sporting my VV Grand at work and this Grand i use now will be a backup for the VV Grand.

My poor RSM and ProVari feel disowned. :)

I have loaded, at the moment, and sitting on the sofa arm table, all three VV Woodvils, Purpleheart Woodvil, and on side table, sitting in a heavy glass, the Kicked Don, with Phiniac tank, all loaded with same juice. Each give a different vape, hit wise, and taste, as all have different atty/cartos and different voltages.

Yesterday I started carrying VV Curly Oak working outside. I need a designated "worker." When I turn VV Curly Oak over to DH, in a few days, Curly Oak Woodvil will become, again, designated "worker" until Silver VV Grand arrives. I'm really careful to keep all of them safe but it's going to be nice to have one I don't have to be so careful with. Well............. Woodvil will always be one of my "swimmers."

Forgot to mention in lounge..... this past weekend DH dropped my Silver Grand into toilet after a #2 before flushing (water was clear). He cleaned everything up with shampoo (he was in hotel), put on a new carto, dry battery, refilled bottle, and kept on vaping. He didn't even give it time to dry out behind the delrin cover and it vaped as usual.

My goldie grand has been collecting dust for 7 months ever since I got my first VV pv I find the 4.8v batteries to be disappointing the voltage drain under load is ridiculous and they only last about 2 hours and I had two kicks die in a month I've given up on them they too are disappointing maybe I'll try 6v in it

Oh wow, I must be seriously undertreating my VVW then - I waxed the insides up but good when I got it, and was planning on re-waxing the innards monthly.

You aren't mistreating them. Once a month, inside, is probably over "kill." Most of the Woodvils have finises on outside that won't allow the wood to soak up any oils. The wax on outside of most is only to protect the finish. Waxing outside for most is mainly dependent on how much it is handled. I got in some of the Howard's hard wax but I haven't used it yet.

I'm really enjoying the poly coat on our three VV Woodvils. Less concern about juice, dirt, moisture. But I do still keep the hard wax on them to help prevent fine scratching of poly coat. Of course Howard's Sun first to help keep colors from changing.

I don't do regular waxing on them unless they are being used regularly. Once you get the inside wood to the point where it won't absorb any more orange oil, that is in Howard's, it shouldn't be needed to be redone very often; maybe 2-3 times a year.

Keep in mind that the oil can make the bare wood expand some. It shouldn't be an issue except on the bare edges of door and door grove. (Although in very rare cases the door can actually warp some.) A very careful sanding, with extremely fine paper, with paper down on a perfectly flat surface, keeping door angle so that it is exactly the same as it comes, and done in one light swipe and then test, etc... will take care of any swelling from oil abortion.

My Curly Oak VV and All Spalted came with pretty tight doors. After oiling they need a tiny bit of wood removed from edges as they have become tighter and hard to slide. Bloodwood/Spalted door was looser than those two to begin with. After oiling it doesn't need any wood removed from door sides.

Gives new meaning to the word 'sham-poo'. Not sure what to make of this. I might have at least opened up the mini bar and raided the over priced vodka.

Thanks Alice, That helps a lot.

I haven't waxed the outside of my VVW yet because with the poly coat, it seems unnecessary and I like the feel of the outer surface in my hand - don't want to change that until it's necessary.

I waxed up the insides (and the inside and rails of the door) because I'm worried about how disgustingly dry it is here in Phoenix, and I don't want it to dry out and split on me. The door was already tight, now it's a booger to open and close. I may try the sandpaper trick on the door this weekend to loosen it up... but of course, then I'll have to re-wax the sides of the door again.

I, too, find the 4.8 batteries to be too much hassle. Like, how many chargers do I want to keep up with?????!!!!!!????? We use, almost exclusively, rechargeable batteries in everything (many, many things) around here so I have several smart chargers for Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries, too. Just got in a bunch of Ni-MH D cells for the lanterns that take bunches of D cells. I only have one charger that will take the D size and it has only four bays so have to get yet another one for those batteries. (I have two solar chargers that will charge D cells, only two at a time though, but it takes days for them to charge.)

And.... if you have a dual bay 5v charger, that looks like the Lithium chargers, even if you label it with "NO LITHIUM" batteries someone will mess up and put lithium in them. Had that happen here.... no fire/explosion but killed several AW IMRs. The got really, really hot!!!! It twasn't me!!!!

it is turing out that we use both the vv's and the mini's in rotation. after a bit of vaping on the vv's the taste and vapor drops due to the atty is getting sorta overheated, it is very hot when you touch it. it was a problem for us before we got our mini's and i totally forgot about it.

now however we have it again, i think it must be coz we prolly vape a bit higher voltage then on the mini's. the other thing am thinking of is that the metal of the mini helps the atty to loose it's heat more easely, as we notice the mini gets warmer at the top half. so am thinking that the wood doesn't do the same thing for our atty's.

after we let it cool down the awesome vape is right back, we really love our wooden vv's. is are there an atty that have less problem to overheat or is there some sort of other solution for this?
