Ok, I'm a Ego vapor. with that said my primary rig is an ego batt (riva and ego clones) with either a stardust or a boge carto. Either way a fresh batt and a cart or stardust has always tasted like burning filler, hollow vape. I sometimes actually take a fresh batt and without a cart will press the button for 10 secs at a time for about 3 or 4 mins just to drop the voltage to get rid of that taste. After I do.... vaping is great until the batt is about toast then that crappy taste comes back. With that said do you think I will be able to dial in a comfortable voltage with the lavatube from start to finish without that funk taste at the beginning and end? Mind you these are not new tanks or cartos I experience this with, its with all carts and tanks. I think its a batt thats charged and since its not regulated that it probably comes off the charger around 4-4.2 volts that its a little high for my taste. I use carto's that are SR around 2.8-3 ohms, I wanna buy a genuine ego batt but i feel that will be to low and thought a Lavatube would be a option to dial it in between 3.5 and 3.7 consistently. I consistantly keep my tanks/carto's nice and wet so I'm not running um dry. Any thought's? Is a Lavatube in my future?

I use a lavatube and I love it, but my "upgrade fever" won't be satisfied till I own something that is top of the line. For the price I haven't seen anything that even compares to the lavatube. I'm interested in the v3 version as well, but honestly the next upgrade will probably be a Provari with the extended end cap so that I can keep using my 18650 bats. I've grown accustomed to the stamina of a big battery mod.

I am surprised that vaping at 4.2 volts using a 3.0 cart or atty taste burnt to you. A fresh battery at 4.2 with 3.0 carts is getting about 5.9 Watts. That is kind of low. 3.7 volts with a 3ohm cart is around 4.6. The lavatube tends to not always be accurate as the battery drains, but you can make the adjustments on the fly. Just have to go by taste. There may be a learning curve but I am sure it would be worth a shot. You may also want to try a VV box mod. There are very affordable ones to test out.

I vape 3ohm single coils at 4.9v and never get a burnt fill taste. One of the advantages of VV is that you don't need to use dual coil cartos to simulate the effect of higher voltage, you simply turn up the voltage.

Some people are happy with their lavatubes and don't ever upgrade. If you think that you are likely to grow out of it and want a better mod, I'd recomend getting the better mod like a Provari or a Buzz first, and save the upgrade expense.

The other side of that is, that the classifieds are a great way to sell a mod, and most hold their value, you should be able to get 80% of your money back after 6 months on almost any mod.

It's nice for someone to mention the Provari without dissing the LT..I get sick of seeing Provari owners totally call the LT crap when it's a decent device for a reasonable price. I'm sure some of them got bad LT's or had some issue with them because they are probably made in the millions.

It hasn't been my experience with mine the last month and half. One of my issues is I can't justify spending over $100 on 1 e cig device as I like to have a couple ready to use..not to mention no matter how nice a device is in 6 months it will be beat up (well maybe if it was made out of really high quality everything it would do ok but would probably cost over $500 for that)..with the LT I can have 2-3 and it won't break my bank and if I break one I can replace it easily...

I apologize if it sounded like I am saying the LT is a low quality device. I love my lavatube, and really for the money it is beyond compare. Also Chrispy is correct, you can buy 3 lavatubes (4 if the Provari isn't on sale) for the price of one Provari... That's a good insurance policy!

Your post in this thread didn't come across to me as saying the LT is low quality..I was just responding to a post that was a more reasonable assessment of the devices than a few others have been posting in the VV forums not to anything posted in this thread :)

I have never used a Lavatube, but from what I have read, they are a well built device, and owners are happy with them.
I like a comparison like...

Lavatube = honda, fully functional, built for owners within a budget
Buzz Pro = carborated mustang, well built, lots of power, lots of style.
Provari = Mercedes, luxury built with cool electronics

All 3 will get you from point A to Point B

I'm sure some of them got bad LT's or had some issue with them because they are probably made in the millions.
Even the higher priced mods have an occasional defect, or need to be serviced. one of the things I love about my Buzz Pro is that the manufacturer himself has a presence on these forums, and proven track record of standing directly behind his mods. Not sure you can find that from a company that simply resells lavatubes.

I would say the Buzz Pro is equal in quality or better than the Provari it just doesn't have a digital pot or display. I would compare the LT vs the Provari more like a Camero vs a Corvette personally..I would consider the eGo that switches voltage more like a low end car..but the Twist eGo that's coming looks cool..low cost and small VV and it seems like it might work pretty decent...
