Would you please provide a link to that study? For I have not seen any study addressing that specific scenario. Not that I don't see the possibility, but, there hasn't even been a definitive study on nic absorption via vaping (let alone second-hand vaping).

ETA: There are several personal posts on the ECF that completely counters your statement. Some members and their non-vaping/smoking mates have been nic tested and NOT ONE report has demonstrated such a transitional interaction.

The hospital incident wasn't a study, it was an actual documented occurrence that was published through the media.

I read the lengthy article about it a year or so ago, right around the time the FDA was blocking shipments.

And I disagree about the definitive studies as several have been published in medical journals.

But you'll have to dig around the internet to find them, they're not widely known and I honestly don't wanna surf the net's mass of medical journals looking for them.

But I wouldn't make up what I've personally read myself!

My husband and I are kinda new to all this and we were wondering some of the same things. Can we go to a restaurant and vape? We did it in Target, Waldbaums, Walmart, etc and no one said anything to us. I tried looking on the Internet to see if NY had and vaping rules but nothing popped up for me. Any input would be wonderful. Thanks

Well, like many have already pointed out, the safest option (if you choose to avoid embarrassment or confrontation) is to vape ONLY where smoking is allowed.

State laws vary greatly, but the majority are passing laws that prohibit vaping in non-smoking areas.

IMO...I would avoid unnecessary confrontation and vape where I knew it was legal to smoke.

So far no one has said anything to us and maybe it's just because we were not seen yet but only vaping where smoking is allowed seems the right way to go. We are still new to a lot of this and it gets confusing because vaping is not the same as smoking and, correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no second hand smoke?

Back in January there were all kinds of stories on the news and on forums that were talking about New York wanting to ban e-cigarettes entirely. Don't know where that bill went, but to tell the truth, that's just another reason why I will never again travel to NYC.

Pretty soon you will have to buy your nic juice out of some guy's car trunk. That sucks, literally. If I were you, I would start DIY juice mixing and building your own mods for when the "nanny state" gets their way (and they will). East coast, West coast, both really messed up, thinking people are too stupid to make their own decisions about anything. It takes a village, Hillary knows best LOL

Give me the Heartland any day!! They can have my mod when they pry it from my cold dead hand! Well, sorry for the editorial, but that's my 2 cents for what it's worth!

edit: maybe I came on a bit strong, sorry. It always gripes me when govt sticks it's nose into people's lives!

Well
I'm a newbie but with everything in flux with new laws being enacted I would try to avoid confrontation like the plague! If you are an ambassador of good vaping you can affect more people for the good. I have 4 smokers interested in vaping already. You can do it in a positive manner so as not to have unaware people trying to get vaping banned and regulated. Just my humble opinion.

You didn't come on to strong. I agree with you about the government. I think they just want the taxes from all this so they will do everything to get it. Maybe if they didn't raise cigarettes to $12 a pack here on LI and between $15-$20 in the city people wouldn't be making the switch. Who knows. Maybe the government should get their acts together and stop putting us further into debt, try harder to get people their jobs back and focus more on what is really important like all the lives e-cigs would save or maybe worry more about this economy more then trying to tell us what to do, when to eat and when to go to the bathroom. About NY trying to ban them, from what I read it was thrown out at least for now. LOL, now you got me going asnider :D

There's a lot more to the "banning" than what meets the eye of the average vaper!

Taxes are the obvious scapegoat, but its the SERIOUS THREAT that government is afraid of disclosing publicly.

The fact that you can dissolve controlled substances into PG and have it be completely undetectable by also concealing it with strong flavorings.

Now just image how BAD that would be for the DEA, hmm?

Hope that's not too "iffy" for a moderator??

I'm not being specific....

Well that has been done for years already. Just look at California and all of the news on that.

I'm not saying there isn't a lot more to the banning of e-cigs but here in NY, the government already put a stop to the cigarettes sold on reservations. The moment they raised the taxes to off the wall prices, people started heading there including us but now they won't let the trucks deliver there unless they want to pay the taxes. I have spoken to a few venders at the reservations and they have told me that they are losing money left and right, some stores have closed up and others are only open for 2-3 hours a day. I read a lot in the news about the unemployment numbers going up more then going down. All anyone is trying to do is just get by but it's hard when government it making it harder for all of us. They want people to quit smoking using the patch, gum or whatever but when it comes to e-cigs they are all trying to fight it. What confuses me is that both the patch, gum and e-cigs satisfy your nicotine needs but why is it ok to use one and not the other? From what I've read, e-juice has the same chemicals that is in almost every product out there and the FDA says it's same. Why not e-cigs?
P.S. I know I'm new here and if I'm over steeping my boundaries please let me know before I get booted off the forum :(

I think that, other than the "BIG SCARE", states and regulatory agencies are truly concerned about people's health and the potential of an overdose or worse.

Nicotine is actually a VERY powerful poison, more so than things like arsenic. But I'm not gonna go into any details about its actual dangers cuz I wouldn't want somebody to "try" what I'm implying.

Plus the other obvious concerns with children....no need to explain there, either.

But there are also proven benefits to vaping as well as analog replacement.

PG is actually an alcohol so it kills harmful germs, even when vaporized.

Hospitals use vaporized PG to disinfect the air-systems to kill air-borne viruses and the like....

Has anybody noticed a significant reduction of your average yearly colds or flu symptoms?

You should if you vape straight PG mixes without any VG in it.

Those in control, however, don't want people to know the "hidden truths", some for VERY good reasons and others for political & social reasons.

But if YOU had secret knowledge that you knew could destroy people's lives and endanger the entire country from an already BAD epidemic of controlled substance abuse.....

What would you do?

Would you disclose everything and hope that drug lords don't take over America?

Or would you prevent it by keeping it secret and make every attempt to ban vaporizing liquid nicotine?

I don't think too many of us are gonna blow vapor "on" somebody or their food. Thats not what we claim the right to do. We claim the right to vape in public establishments. As long as our vapor is not being blown "on" somebody ...or even in their personal space, there shouldn't be a problem.

You don't have that right. They own the store, not you, so they get to make the rules, not you.

I vape in walmart, home depot, restaurants, etc, and nobody has asked me not to do it. But if the employees at a store ask me to stop, I'm going to stop. If it's a low level employee, I may ask to talk to a manager to see if I can get a different ruling.

I'm not assuming that I can't vape when I haven't been told that and there is no sign. The law here doesn't stop me from vaping. But it is not my property. They own the store. If they tell me I can't do it, then I'll stop.

I think that's much more reasonable than a "I have rights! The constitution says I can vape!" attitude.
