I really dont put a lot of thought into what people are thinking when I
vape, nor do I really care. I think the issue on the one extreme is that if you are in someone's face, intentionally or actively hoping someone notices; you are likely to upset someone. If you are doing everything you can to hide it, you likely are giving off the vibe that people should be concerned about what you are doing. I will gladly answer questions and I have had a few cross looks, one bartender who actually said that there is no way this guy has the b*ls to light up a smoke here and after a quick answer, he was fine. But overall, it is legal here at this point and I do at least 20 things that people don't like every day that are legal - you can't make everyone happy.
The issue I see is legislation banning something that shouldn't be lumped in with analogs and the like. There should be some level of respect, like if someone asks you not to after it is explained but pushing me outside (or feeling like I have to) with the smokers, regardless of why would be a huge disappointment to me. So if the "
vaping world" allows laws or policy push them outside because people dont understand it then we would have no one to blame but ourselves.
And a final point, nothing bothered me more as a smoker than the fake coughs I got outside of the bar when the reason I am in the doorway in the first place was because of the same people. Additionally, I was equally bothered by anyone trying to get me to quit. So, I dont agree with trying to convert smokers to e-ciggs unless they ask for it.
Oh and on subject - I like them to look like a smoke when I am in public (except the bar) or driving for less attention and to look like anything but a smoke at the bar - I am the boss at work so my employees can suck it if they dont like it.
