This device was all original, with no modifications, nothing over-tightened, could have burned my house down when it caught on fire.

Yes, the fact that Efest's are re-wrapped and lower amp than stated has been well covered on ECF but that looks like the mod auto fired til it burnt down the atomizer. No?

When Mine USE TO WORK, sometimes if I got the battery adjustment too tight, the darn thing would fire on it's own. I'll stay with the Reo's Family from now on, but then, I'm old...senile....and....VERY CRANKY!

What happened exactly - did the button "stick" firing?
It's difficult for a device to literally fire itself - and while I DID hear a report of one dripbox with a sticky button new out of the box, I've been using one with no hint of malfunction for a while now...

Considering the dripbox requires a 20a CDR battery, using a 10a can only end in a bad result.
efest is notorious for overstating amp ratings, no matter how many are tested or who does the testing there is no telling what cell is actually under the wrap.
You may get lucky & get a so so 20a cell or you may get a 6.8a cell both wrapped with the same false amp rating printed on the label.

But, I doubt the battery caused it to auto fire.

It doesn't look like the battery vented, rather it auto-fired somehow and the atomizer burned itself up.

That is the plastic top of the RDA melted down onto the coil, etc.

It was just sitting on my work table. The only thing that might have changed is that unit was cooling down from normal use; not too hot, just normal temperature. Components may have shrunk slightly as they cooled down causing it to fire.

I have to emphasize that the device was being used in its "normal" state; all original, the build was .6 ohm (great flavor).

I like the portability and the device was a low cost option for my 100 % VG DIY juice. No way that I'll buy another because I won't know If this problem will occur again. I don't see how this could be due to an under-powered battery, that doesn't make sense.

OK.. sounds like the device may have failed then. Glad no one was hurt and didn’t cause other damage.

Good to know. I'll make sure I kill the battery connection when I'm not using mine. Did you have any problems with the button sticking in the past? Or any juice leaking incidences? How old is it? Glad you didn't get hurt.

I've had plenty of devices start autofiring on me. Usually after lots of use and abuse, and possible water damage >_>. But still this is good to know.

No. Sounds more like wire damage or a stuck power button.

My Geyscano is my "daily driver" but not as portable as the drip box. Does anyone know of something similar to the dripbox; inexpensive, portable, simple, etc.
