the media has been attacking us pretty badly lately. the local newspaper has been particularity bad. my boss at work really ...... me off as well. we have a bulletin board at work and he thought it would be a good idea to post one of these articles knowing full well that one of his employees is a vaper. i asked him if was trying to piss me off, because he did.

the article in question was about e-liquid and it was in the buffalo news. it was a great case of "yellow" journalism. it called e-liquid a "dangerous neurotoxin" and said that "even small amounts even when diluted can kill". both boldface lies. e-liquid contains nicotine and is a MILD stimulant and small amounts certainly do NOT kill. we all have suffered the effects of juice in the mouth, you spit it out it tastes nasty but it is hardly something that you consider to be deadly. it also babbled on about a couple of cases where young kids drank e-liquid and died... which i can neither confirm or deny, but it was the first i have ever heard of it. has anyone died from diluted e liquid yet? what the article should have been about was being a responsible parrent and keeping your juice away from your kid. it was some of the worst reporting i have read in a while... it really ...... me off. no where did it mention that these devices have led to millions of people quitting smoking that would otherwise still be burning truely toxic cigarettes. it even went as far to say "e-liquid is more dangerous then tobacco". really????? tobacoo kills more then 430,000 people per year. it is the single most lethal thing on the planet. what could be more dangerous then that?? i get the feeling from reading that garbage that the author was in favor of giving the entire industry to big tobacco...... PURE EVIL in so many ways. its downright demonic. vaping needs to remain its own industry and if big tobacco eventually goes out of buisness, good they are nothing but evil murderers

another article that was printed recently basically stated that you should quit smoking using FDA approved gums, patches, and therapy. we all know how in-effective gum and patches are compared to vaping. we also know how effective vaping is.

what are good recent article to read, print, and spread around to combat this non-sense. heck, i would even maybe like to send those articles to the editor of the newspaper that published that garbage and demand that they publish a rebuttal. they really should stick to the facts. stop lying to people, they might be encouraging people to continue to smoke.

Here is an excellent refutation of the NYT article I believe you are referring to:

The New York Times Warns That Drinking E-Cigarette Fluid Could Become a Fatal Fad Among Toddlers - Hit & Run : Reason.com

Post it right next to your Boss's. Remember, he may be genuinely concerned for your (and other employees) health. I don't know the guy, but many people believe most of what they read. He may have just been trying to warn everyone about something he read...\

EDIT:

Just so you know, Nicotine does fit some of the definitions of Neurotoxin. I am NOT defending that hit piece, but we must know all of the facts when we refute this stuff.

dude let him hate, not even worth your time imo. I would just laugh if my boss put something like that on the bulletin board. honestly though, why do these non smokers/vapors feel the need to push their opinion on something they don't even do lol. there was a fat chick making a comment at me one time about vaping, and I was just thinking the whole time, you look like you have a bad eating habit but I don't tell you about how unhealthy that is for you ha

People have all sorts of reasons for not accepting ecigs. Some are tobacco haters and others associate vaping with smoking just because it looks like smoking. If you were chewing nicorette gum, you'd be getting the nic without exhaling vapor, but you'd probably be out in the break area sneaking a smoke here and there, too.

It kills me to hear people rave about the dangers of nicotine in homes in the presence of children. There are any number of brightly colored containers in the average home holding liquids that could kill children if they drank them.

I agree. Prime example would be windex. How are they allowed to sell that stuff so blue? seems like a kid would drink that, so we should put some restrictions on that nasty stuff

I think we should just put Mr Yuks on all e-liquid bottles.

Mr Yuk is both informative, and so very cool! In my skateboarding days (long ago) I had a skateboard covered in these stickers...

The Bflo News - liberal rag - my family won't read it.

I don't understand why so many people still think a newspaper is a source for accurate, unbiased information.

There are also forums here on health with useful information.
& this one I have printed or emailed to friends & family http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/177551-pg-vg-peg.html

I agree. Ban all cleaning supplies. And mops and brooms too. I got stuck in a dryer as a kid playing spaceship, so I know the dangers there. And my dog can tell you how dangerous vacuum cleaners are. Then I'd never get into trouble for not cleaning the house! I think I see a plan coming together....

When your boss tries to piss you off........It's a good thing......My old boss acted like she hated me (Sometimes I may come off as an ...), but every time a promotion came up, I was the first one to get an offer on it. I mean there was a couple times where when I got done talking to her I was pacing around cussing like a sailor.

Now I have a job that requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a associates in mechanics, and I only have a HS Diploma, so she couldn't have hated me.
