Hi Peeps! Just got started on vaping proper 4 months ago and have really managed to cut down my smoking (2 packs a day) to a grand total of 5 puffs over the last 3 months (have to account for learning process people!). I used to smoke 3-5 sticks in the morning when I'm crapping and probably 3-5 sticks along the day (colleagues sensitive to the smell of smoke). But I really turn it on in the evenings when I can easily clear a pack... or two if I were drinking.

My friends still smoke and they joke about the vaping, but even they are amazed that I can refrain from smoking even when I am not armed with my vape. It's hard to pin point the reason for the 180 turn-around, maybe it's the smell of cigarettes on my fingers and clothes, maybe it's the fresher breath now.. yeah.. actually.. it's really the smell for me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't detest smokers and am perfectly fine sitting in a roomful of smokers just talking crap. It's just that, being able to go about my daily routine without having to worry about how I smell makes me feel a lot better.

Had experimented with the EGO a couple of years ago, I never really knew what to with it and kinda chucked it aside after juice started leaking and the vape tasted burnt. Never really did spend time to figure out what went wrong.. and honestly, it was always going to a be a pain getting supplies locally.

Anyway, 4 months back, I decided to get serious about vaping seeing how it got a chain smoking buddy of mine to almost stop smoking overnight. I started with a DNA40 mod with an aspire tank which I kept burning out... AGAIN... and it was frustrating. Nevertheless, I continued pouring through forums and managed to do my own troubleshooting.

I then changed to a kanger subtank, which was good for a while, but struggled with understanding an array of attys which contained different wires (ni200, kanthal etc). My OCCs were burning out every other day, the vape experience was horrendous and I kept worrying about how I would run out of supplies before I got myself off cigarettes proper. It was obviously an expensive learning process. It was exasperating dealing with Temperature Control, compacted wicks, shorted coils, burnt wicks, flooded tanks, crazy charging times - all of which were using my limited supply of consumables. In between, I would still be smoking regularly.

That's when I decided to take the plunge and dabble in the "sophisticated" world of RBAs. AH... LIGHTBULB moment. It was like magic. I drew thicker clouds and enjoyed better flavour. And really, the Kanger RBA is less intimidating than it looks.

Then, I realised that all good things must come to an end, and I had to replace my coils. So, on one of my overseas trips, I went to a vape shop to learn and realised.. HEY... it's not so bad.. bought myself a coil master starter kit and felt empowered to soldier on in my vaping "career". To spice things up, I also acquired a Royal Hunter RDA which was set up for me. WOW.

It has been an incredible experience. And I hope that, one day, vaping can be globally accepted. It's made a change in my life.

Do I think vapes are 100% risk-free? Nah.. I don't think so. If one tries to get too cute or doesn't follow manufacturer's instructions, things can get nasty. Chemicals we inhale are theoretically safe since PG/VG/Flavourings/Liquid Nic are technically commonplace in other every-day industrial applications. But there's combustion and with that, we never know for sure the carcinogenic effect vaping has. However, I'm convinced that I made the right switch from cigarettes. For starters, I've immediately cut out carbon monoxide and tar from my daily "diet". Cigarette smoke is widely-accepted to be highly carcinogenic and truthfully, I cannot imagine an ethically-produced vape juice would be worse.

Happy vaping and hope to get to know you all better.

Sorry for this rather draggy intro post.

Choo

PS: Dual coil experts out there, please, help me out with one thing.
Long story short, RBA coil change no problem.
RDA dual coil set up? Uneven drying of the wick! It's frustrating!
I've been burning through wires to get things right.
Same number of coils on each wire, fires at same time, both glow from centre..
But one side is almost always soaked while the other one dries up nicely.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Issues with my dual coil builds

My issues sound similar to this guy's issues.
However, I can only wish my solution were that simple. =)

You mentioned about coils setup, how about wicking? Try longer/shorter wick, or thinner/thicker wick, different types of cotoon? Personally, I find rayon Cotton very forgiving in wicking as it is more absorbent.
