Well I came up with a NEW WAY to vape/Soldering Iron

I originaly tried to use the tip of the cold heat soldering iron as the atomizer by crossing it with a piece of wire that would heat up, but you get the taste of the graphite tip and it's really, really frighteningly bad tasting. lol.

Glad I didn't get that taste lol.

I scraped my iron off when it was hot with a knife before I did this.

I also took out everything but the stuffing that was in the atomizer.

Why don't you try this...

Stick your tongue in the microwave for 30 seconds till it feels real warm, then squeeze a couple of drops on it and very fast roll your tongue forming a tube and suck air in your lungs.

I am pretty sure it will work and you will not need any "device" to be able to vape!!

What a negative comment.........

I've been thinking about how to do this. The tip of the gun would be very bad to vape off of I think.

So looking at the one posted before

This looks like to be a replacement tip for it

So it looks like I would be able to screw in a different type of metal tip onto it.

They also do make battery operated kinds.

Hello! I've only been using E-cigs for about a month, and I only signed up for the forums this evening, but I found this post searching for a "mod" I'm working on. About ten years ago, a buddy was trying something he found that was supposed to be a legal hallucinogen, but it was too harsh for him to smoke it. Trying to help him out, I learned about vaporizers...the big glass bottle types for smoking tobacco and other things. They were too pricey, so I did the legwork for him and found out about making your own with a soldering iron...so I built one. PVC and plastic, and it worked great. So long ago I doubt I could find the site again with the plans.

Basically, I built a base out of PVC so it would stand on its own, and the soldering pencil would be held vertically (tip up). I cut a small circle of real thin stainless and popped a hole in the center so it would sit on the tip of the soldering pencil, then curved the edges to make a dish of sorts. Then I cut a 2-liter soda bottle just above the plastic base (remember those), and fit it inside the PVC base. The instructions on the site said basically to heat the soldering iron and steel plate, put your plant matter on the plate, and put the bottle top in the base. When you started seeing wisps of vapor in the bottle, take the cap off the 2-liter and inhale. My buddy said it worked like a charm, and even started using it for his cig tobacco at home. (not real useful in a car or work) So I guess I can safely say this idea will work, depending on the variables involved with the PG and other ingredients.

I'm currently working on rebuilding my old experiment, but I'm going to try using some of the cart packing on the steel plate to help hold the juice for a while. If I learn anything, I'll let you know. Good work so far!

Tried that but the door wouldn't shut with my head in the way, do you know of a way to bypass the safety cut-off?

I was Thinking of some similar things although I'm looking for a home model only that stays hot and has no padding it would instead drop liquid directly on the metal or pyrex when you want a hit since padding is only really nesserairy when dealing with stuff that burns out when heated up dry. like the current atty design. since the soldering iron wouldn't have this problem you should be able to say use a small electric pump that just pumps the e-liguid on your heated surface when you push the button.

Now thats what I was thinking until I read someone else's thread about using USP grade fog juice (Which I by the way think is a bad Idea since I was able to get PG and VG so cheap I can't see any reason to bother with that.) But it got me thinking about how to mod my little fog machine to make a vapeing hooka that should never need an atty change. basicly connect a hose to the front and run the button wires up to a mouthpeace with a button on it.

So I'll be pulling my fog machine out later today so I can take a better look under the hood and look for anything that may make this unsafe. I'm sure it'll probably be wastefull but it you want to use it for a cheap no nic blend it could be the ultimate vape.

First thing I'll be checking is the temp. Then I'll try and see what the metal is.

Don't let these paranoid people get you down keep thinking outside the box there should be no need for us to need to chage atty's so much.

For the record, I think this is an incredibly stupid idea, you're about 2 minutes to midnight when it comes to just using a crackpipe instead.

Now that being said, I'm a bit of a sadist, and this looks like fun to watch. It seems like your biggest issue is going to be how fast the soldering iron heats up and cools down - what you need is a thin piece of metal that heats up quickly but doesn't retain heat and has an indention in it that will allow your soldering iron tip to slide in and out. Pool your liquid around the cone thats sticking up, and when you want to take a hit, slide the iron up into the indent for it. It should heat up the medium instantly and give you your hit, and then you can slide the iron back out, allowing it to cool off rapidly and be ready for another hit.

Please, please video all of your experiments with this, maybe start a video blog - I need some laughs.

I was thinking on this some more and thought if you could get one made out of the right metal a desoldering iron would possibly work better. With this you could remove the little ball and use the suction track to feed your e-liquid to the heating tip. This way you could put like a little primmer type pump used for lawn mowers to delver your e-liquid.

RadioShack 45-Watt Desoldering Iron

By the way I have one of these and refuse to use desoldering braid as it's so much more work.
