I got my Wetbox yesterday and I think it is a great little device, very convenient.

Today I was playing with it and while I was looking how it is made, I thought that it might leak juice inside the box. So I tried an idea, I cut a small rectangular piece of a cartomizer silicone cover and placed it on the needle assembly, then pushed it down to the plastic.

The hole on silicone was created by a needle (the one that comes with wetbox and used to unclog the needle assembly) and silicon piece was placed on needle assembly using two pliers to expand the silicon piece - and the hole - temporarily so the hole was big enough to fit.

The first leak took place today (my mistake), the carto and the connector flooded, the external of the case was spilled with liquid but inside the box, all liquid stopped to silicone cap, not a single drop inside :)

Try it. I don't know if it last or if the switch will die anyway but for the little I tried it, it keeps the liquid outside the box.

A standard Joye 510 atty will want to pull about 1700mA. A LR at 1.5Ω will want to pull about 2400mA. That little tact switch that is used is rated for about 50mA. So with a LR atty the switch is expected to handle 48 times the current it's rated for. These types of switches are also not very robust, they are not made for the constant activation that we subject them too.

Trying to cram the components into a 2AA box is part of the problem. There is no room for a decent switch, the switch is right next to the leakage point and refilling means carefully navigating the wiring. Leakage into the box is a design flaw the wooden bottom feeders out there don't have.

HighPing's mod addresses two of these issues. He moved the switch away from the juice bottle, placing it under the battery, and sealed the tube/needle atty connection.

Thanks for this info, I'll need it when I get around to fixing my Wetbox switch. Missy did offer to fix it but I may do it as a project.

Do you have a link for 'HighPing's' mod? Good idea 'Jumi', I'll have to give that a whirl if I ever get mine back and running.

Despite all of the negative comments about switch failures, I decided to give the Wetbox a shot anyway. I really want an Ali'i, but the wait times are pretty long, and the price tag is pretty high, so I hope this will tide me over long enough to be able to (a) get one when Ryan starts making them again and (b) afford one when I have the cash to blow. If I get 6-12 months out of my Wetbox, I'll be really happy. 3 weeks would really bug me. So we'll see what happens and if I end up disappointed, I'll be sure to post my experiences here.

I kind of think it would be in Missy's best interests to offer some kind of unconditional switch warranty; say maybe 90 days with the only expense to the customer being the cost of shipping it to her for repair. That would go a really long way in building customer confidence and would very likely boost sales.

Well, the batteries are charged and so far, I really like this thing. Time will tell if I made a mistake (one week of MODERATE use sounds pretty bad!) But I am amazed how this device even makes my juice taste better. It's still a 3.7v, like my RN4081, but I suspect the difference is the 501 cartomizer and the better battery.

I've read that the LR attys can lead to switch burn out on these. I stuck with a regular 510 cart, just to be safe. I am curious about LR vaping, but I am so used to the regular 3.7 experience that I figured it would be fine for me. Maybe that will be the key to a longer lifespan for my Wetbox. (Fingers are crossed.)

first of all the wetbox only comes with a 510 connection and cartomizer, if you change that any way you gonna end up dripping,,,the bottle needle isn't long enough to reach regular atomizers especially if you want to use anything beside a 510 on it..switch is iffy,,and they should be using epoxy at the atty connector,,on mine the silicone allowed the connection to move around,,resulting in wire breakage, it's in the drawer at my desk and a 50 dollar lesson learned,,i chalked it up to experience..

I got a 510 Wetbox and a KR808 Wetbox...they come in 2 connections. I like the 510 with a LR cartomizer the best. The KR808 Wetbox only works with KR cartos that have the larger hole. The smaller holed KR cartos like the Vapor9 Turbos and some of V4Life Premiums give too hard a draw because of the needle sticking into the hole.

Stay with cartos with the Wetbox and you won't have any problems.

Oh I wish I could say I was happy with mine. I got it, vaped it for one full day, flooded it. Let it sit hoping to dry it out in case that was the problem, it was the problem. Sent it back to Missy , she said it worked fine, must have dried out finally when it got to her, she changed the switch anyway just in case. I thought that was cool, she didn't have to do that since it was working fine for her once she got it. Then I got it back and it worked a whole day again, now I get nothing and I know it is dried out by now , it has been weeks.
I was all about buying a spare but I am not to sure now. I don't even know if I want to spend the 15$ to get it fixed. I think I will wait for a better model , if she makes one or an Ali' i or how ever you spell it LOL.

You got that backwards. For a regular atty you need a short needle.

I'm guessing everyone who has problems w/flooding and switches are using atomizers or 1.5ohm LR cartos. Wetbox was designed for standard cartomizers. Been vaping both the 510 version and kr808 version non stop w/cartos and never had any flooding or problems with switches and believe me I vape HEAVY 24/7.

I only used mine for 1 day, I used the carto that was sent with it, non lr plain old 510 carto. It flooded before the end of the first day. When I sent it back to Missy she told me that the vendor that sent it to me changed the needle assembly it was shorter then the ones Missy put in there , so I bought a new needle assembly from Missy. This kind of irked me that the vendor changed the needle so as Missy explained. Anyway I went to using it again with a regular 510 carto and it didn't even last the whole day without stopping. Now it isnt flooded , it just doesn't work.

So maybe not everyone having a problem is using attys and lr cartos. Maybe this is a great concept for a product that just needs some more fine tuning, before making a bunch of nic fiends ticked off about not being able to use what they spend thier money on.

Earlier I mentioned soaking the WetBox with isopropyl alcohol to clean out the switches, and then blowing the unit out with compressed air - this has worked well for me. Also, for the past month or so, I have used a paper towel "gasket" on the needle assembly. I take about a 2x2-inch piece of paper towel and fold it in half twice to make a square about 1x1, then punch a hole in the center with a paper clip, and slide that over the needle assembly before inserting the needle into the unit, then wedge the paper towel in for a good fit. The paper towel absorbs any leaking juice, and I just replace it every day or two as needed. It does a nice job of keeping the switches from getting gunked up.

That could be a good idea pianoguy. I still like the wetbox idea and the price is great compared to other afs mods. I really want some sort of feeder. I may still order another on a whim and send this one back to be repaired.

I go from being mad it doesn't work, to gee maybe this one just has issues LOL I really like everything about it except the leaking / switch problems. Unfortunately those are major problems.

Ok I went to Clouds of Vapor and ordered a new one. I am a gluten for punishment. We shall see if this happens again. I hope I am not making a mistake.
I look at it like this I would have spent 50$ on a carton of smokes. I have not been over buying lately so right now I am ahead. I was saving for a journeyman or ali'i or a reo but there are none available and I am not going to stalk the websites to refresh until they are available. I have plenty of other supplies to use if this wetbox is another pos so I am fairly ok with trying another one. If this new one lasts more then a week I will consider sending the other one in to fix , unless I can get ahold of one of the other mods I mentioned by then.
