As a newbie I have found lots of posts that talk about the importance of steeping and while I did not disbelieve it, I had no idea how true it was. I got some e juice last week and frankly, hated two of three that I received. I was reminded not to toss it from some ppl in here and I am so glad I didn't. There is still one that is just plain awful but the other one has turned out to be something that I really like. The flavor developed far more depth and is genuinely enjoyable now. So, for those of you newbies out there that might get some not-so-great stuff, give it a few days and revisit it. It might still suck but it might turn out to be kinda great.

does it depend on the juice type/flavour?

Yes. It also depends on the vendor, and the process they use to make the juice. Anything that smells perfumey when you get it, or anything that uses alcohol in an extraction process could probably use a day or two with cap and dripper off, then steep normally. In my experience, the stronger notes in a juice will fade a little with steeping, while the more subtle notes will gain life. You often get a more complex, well rounded flavor after steeping. Some vendors and some juices don't change much with steeping, though.

Also, people's tastes can change a lot when they switch off cigs. Things I liked the first couple weeks were "meh" at two months, things good at 3 months I no longer vaped at 6 months. I've had a single all-day vape for two years, which has a flavor profile nothing like the eliquids I used early on; I still mix other items, they are indeed good blends, just that my ADV really does the job for me consistently.

Sometimes an eliquid just tastes like .... lint, always will, but sometimes we'll find that our tastes have changed to the point where an eliquid is now really good.

If you have, or have access to, an ultra-sonic cleaner here's a little tip to speed things up -- at least I've found it works for me. Find a plastic box that will fit inside the cleaner, take lips (no need to take off drip caps unless you want to) and place the bottles in the box, place box inside cleaner and fill with cold water until the box just floats, run thru 8 or 10 cycles, let rest one day and try...

Ah yes, speed steeping. Probably good for those into DIY. Here's a thread about it: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s-ultrasonic-cleaner-part-ii.html#post7704086
