Neph, I never thought of doing a labor of love for money..LOL:p
My eyes aren't sharp enough anymore..diabetes takes a toll.

Donei, I worked in Seaworld's bakery for a while..loved doing cakes for about an hour! Then it was a a 50 cakes a day misery. I do some cakes for us or for picnics but that's it! I never learned the fancy decorating, just some piping.
I meant to add that I am not an "on topic" type of person, but people don't like wading through a page or two of chat to post on topic. So I am starting a chat thread just to well...chat! LOL

Here are a few of the cakes/edible items I have made... almost everything is edible. Even the flowers. The only things NOT edible are the wooden dowel on the tool box, due to time and the wires used in assembling/supporting the flowers.

I'm artistic in nature and have dabbled in many art materials over the years.... from just plain old homey crafty stuff to more artsy in nature,....I always need to create something keep my mind and hands busy...LOL, I have worked in crosstitch needlecraft, beading, painting, clays, jewelry making, scrap booking, concrete and glass yard art, copper and glass, stained glass, mosaics, I particularly love working with glass......... I have even ventured into macabre horror dolls for a while, I am always looking for new materials to venture into.

That's so beautiful! You should be able to do this on the side..and make some serious money!

Thanks but no one could afford what I'd have to charge to just make minimum wage....lol....OMG time consuming. It took me almost 8 hours to handstitch the trim to the dress because it was so hard to get the needle through...another 8 hours of applying the gems, each one hand placed...I must be out of my mind. Actually, that thought occurred to me numerous times in the midst of it all...lol...:p

I'm another one with rotating hobbies. I used to have a business selling treasure chests I made, sometimes I knit, I've made and sold jewelry but like a pp I never make a profit at it.

I used to belly dance professionally and I made all my costumes, now I'm teaching my daughter and I'm sure I'll be making a costume for her soon. The fringe takes forever to bead.

I always make all our Halloween costumes but my tweens have decided they're too cool for that now.

I still sew on occasion, sometimes work with resin and poly clay. My next project is going to be designing a purse since I can't seem to find one that has all the features I want.

I've attempted some soldered glass art, but I suck at it.

Rotating hobbies is what I'd call it. My husband gave me another name for it. He say's I'm a Hobby Ho. 8-o :D

I've done
Cake decorating
Scrapbooking
Screenprinting
Jewelry making
Polymer Clay Sculpturing
Stained Glass
and... he's a mechanic so I made him teach me. I can rebuild an engine all by myself if I ever had to :)

lol....I also do drywall, plumbing, electrical, whatever. I often wish I could find something creative I could do that would actually be semi-lucrative....

Donei, That engine would proably have a few feaures the guys never thought of..like an over head cam with rhinestone gaskets.:)
With all the talent provided here..we could build a house and decorate it! Just for fun, build a car to put in the driveway and have cakes and dinner already cooked for the grand opening. Each ash tray would have a P.V. mod in it and the liquid flavors to go in them would be..creative! Yep, that's the word for it!. Although, the reborn in the nursey would have some folks scared silly thinking that it came with the house. Who needs more diapers at our age! Wait..I didn't mean we need diapers..shut up now Mary:oops:
