Thank you. Right now we're just hoping he can get one. He has polycystic kidney disorder, so more testing is needed to see if the new kidney would just have the same issues. He's right at 20% function right now so the ball is rolling. Then, I'm adopted, so we've gotta see how things match up. My mom is diabetic so can't even try, and my brother is their natural child, so a chance of him getting the same disease, so crossing our fingers on me right now.

Kidneys don't need to match "as well" as other organs, like hearts, so you have that in your favor,,,,,,,there were 5 "markers" (or whatever they are called, IF I remember correctly) and I matched only 2 of my sisters,,,,,and they still did the surgery.

my sister is a diabetic, which is why I gave her a kidney,,,,so I can see why your mom couldn't.

Will keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers.

EDIT to add: they also have some new "kidney matching" service out there, from what I understand,,,,,,,,,let's say you and your dad do NOT match,,,,,,they match you with someone else,,,,,,,,,,,and they match your dad with someone he DOES match,,,,,,it's quicker than the regular wait list,,,,,,because, basically, everyone on the list has a relative willing to give to someone they do match, if that's making sense,,,,,,,,

i forget what they call the program though.

I had cancer at 22, not smoking related, but it made the fact that I could get lung cancer more real to me ( hope that makes sense). I tried quitting a few times with the patch and gum, didn't work. Got pneumonia a few times, tried to quit with Champix, the 2nd last time I had it my Doc looked at me and said "Your going to die". Scared me, but not enough to quit. The patch, gum, Chapix or cold turkey just didn't do it for me.

One day a was reading a CBC story about quitting. In the comments were a lot of recommendations for Greensmoke when I looked and compared it to other options it seemed really expensive, so I ordered a cheap 510 kit. That didn't do it and for a couple months I didn't give quitting another thought.

In December I got really sick again, so I started to thing about ecigs once again. I ordered an ego kit in early January, had my last cigarette on January 11th. It's hard to believe that it's been over 8 months since my last smoke. I don't think that I have saved much money yet ( partially because I keep buying kits for smokers) but I have not been sick since.

Even my Dr is really happy that I am vaping now, something I didn't expect.

My boyfriends mother. She bought him one and for the next two weeks that is the only thing he talked about. So I said if you can't beat them... And I forced myself to tolerate it for 4 days. Before finding myself with the 1st tank/ liquid combination that I liked. Thanks to the wonderful people at Mr. E liquid. And suddenly I enjoyed it and never looked back.

Mine decision was a combination of money and health. I had a constant racking cough, but even then, I did.not.want.to.quit. I decided I would try it and see if it would help me to cut back some. As soon as I took the first few puffs I knew I could quit smoking and it would be easy (unlike all the other times I tried to quit or cut down.) That was Jan.2nd, 2012 and it still amazes me. I love vaping. I love the flavors, the ability to smell them and taste them and I love not coughing anymore.
I started at 24mg and am down to 12. I'm perfectly happy and content with that. I like nicotine just as many like caffeine. (I hate caffeine. It makes me jittery.)

I'm in the mood for graham cracker with a splash of strawberry. :D

Honestly, I loved smoking something about a cigarette was very calming for me. When I made the decision to quit I found the next best thing, which turned out to be the BEST thing between the variety of flavors and mods out there and the fact that I truly feel better. I believe ofallthe habits I've picked up, this is one that has had a positive impact on my life

Hubby had bought an ego/T3 starter kit while I was in Montana visiting family. He dragged me into a store the day after I got back (after I vacuumed/febreezed the rental car I had used for the trip). I never really wanted to quit, but was tired of the stigma attached to smoking.

I had a 5,000 mile road trip in a rental car.. the wife bugged me to try an e-cig so we wouldn't have to keep stopping for smoke breaks.. (stinking up the car was a $250 fine from the rental company).. I bought a 650 mah ego with a clearomizer & two bottles of juice for the trip.. On the way back, I passed up buying cheap cartons at the duty-free and in Missouri.. still had one carton of regular cigs at home.. when those were gone, I was vaping full-time.. it's been a couple weeks, and a couple hundred bucks in different hardware & juices, but I'm off the analogs for good now..

I was spending about $180 every three weeks at the reservation for smokes.. now someone else is going to have to pay for the children's schoolin', or the senator's hookers, or wherever all that tax money goes!

For me it was a friend of mine making the switch. He's got the most addictive personality of anyone I know. He'd quit smoking for a year jist because, and then randomly picked it back up at 2 PAD. Same with drinking and his other vices. Anyhow, he bought a Provari, some cartos, and tank, and some juice and stopped smoking that day. My thinking was, "Holy [four letters], if HE did it, I'm pretty sure I can do it." I was already giving serious thought to quitting at this point, but wasn't sure how I'd pull it off. My friend inspired me to try vaping--and it worked. May 12 was my first vape and my last cigarette. Vape for the win!

I did the same thing for about 4-6 weeks. That morning cig was the hardest one to give up, but eventually I conquered that demon, too.

Yeah, the morning cigarette was also the last stick I could drop. But I did drop it and I haven't smoked at all for three months now. The first few months of vaping, I still could not give up 1-3 sticks per day, but I eventually found the right setup, nic level, and all the other important things to make the complete switch.

My reasons all occurred the same month: non-smoking mother had a stroke and was diagnosed with a tumor in one lung, partner nagging for us both to quit, tired of feeling guilty, AND I realized I had a wheeze when lying down. All the excuses I'd made to continue smoking (they're light cigs, I'm not a heavy smoker, the cough is just a cold coming on, cigs keep me sane, etc.) suddenly seemed stupid. I saw a website with a deal on disposables, realized "oh, that's what an e-cig is". Finding this site has given me the info I need to continue e-cigs without feeling any need for analogs.

My daughter was pregnant and wanted to get off the analogs and I had heard about vaping. This was two years ago. She stuck with it for the sake of her unborn child but I didn't. Couldn't seem to get the hang of it and didn't enjoy it. After her baby was born it was back to smoking for her as well.

Fast forward to last March/April. We were both so sick and tired of standing outside to smoke. No matter what the weather we'd wear jackets and hats so the smoke wouldn't permeate our clothes and hair. Then come inside to wash up before being with the baby. That was getting really old so we went to a new store that had opened up locally and it was like an awakening. Different gear made a world of difference. Neither of us have looked back. Now my husband is onboard as well.

I've always loved the physical act of smoking. Though I quit analogs in '07, the physical craving never went away. A couple of years ago, I started smoking the occasional analog socially. At most 3 analogs a year. Then my friend started vaping and then another. I tried it and loved it. Then I found out that you can vape with 0 nic. Even better. I'm already hooked and my first setup hasn't even arrived yet. I have a Winder on the way and I already want better mods lol.

I guess I got lucky - never got caught by the rental car companies, and I ALWAYS smoked in the car. Don't have to worry about that anymore!

LOVE, love love love love love love the physical act of smoking. What's that you say? I can fulfill this deep desire to inhale and exhale clouds with negligible ill effects? Please tell me where this wonderful device is. Oh, why hello there vaporizer. Even though I don't need you for quitting analogs, I'm gonna vape the hell out of you!

... and I bid thee, my thin wallet, a farewell.
