what did you smoke before you started vaping?

JPS loved them from an early age, possibly too early.
Just started with the whole e cig thing and working my way down to just using the e cig.
The ones i have started with don't match JPS but they do give a nice kick to the back of the throat, that's how I know I've taken a drag.

what will help motivate me to ditch the fags all together is if i can find a nice, safe e liquid.
to be honest i'm as tight as a ducks .... well ya know. so if i can save a little extra by re filling the nicolite thingy a couple of times before disposal, well all the better.
any tips ? bearing its the kick to the back of the throat that seems to do it for me.

PS is this a UK thing, i only ask as there are a lot of brands mentioned that i have never heard of, but then i always was monogamous when it came to smoking.

Cowdog here with smoking biography.
Smoked Kents for 16 years. Do they still sell those? People told me they smelled like burnt rope. :( Was smoking 3 pks/day when I quit.
Then I smoked lots of "other stuff" to substitute for the cigarettes. Quit that too.
After about 25 years off cigarettes, I picked up again. Got hooked again of course. :(
Smoked 7-10 Sherman's MCDs per day during my 2nd smoking career.
Now vaping 6 months. Still have an MCD every few days. But just ONE!!

I started with Marlboro Reds for years (they were less than $2 ($1.78 for a while) when I started but quickly reached $5.65 a pack after 2008) but as the economy started tanking and the price started going up as a result of both federal taxes and state taxes sin taxing smokers to cover their budget woes I degraded into Roll Your Owns or whatever I had in the way of coupons and whatever brand that might have led to. Even now I go back to those websites and get all kinds of free stuff: ashtrays, I've gotten 3 canteens, keychains, awesome stuff. Plus I take the coupons into my secret convenience store buddy and he trades me 1/2 their value in cash = win.

Once Marlboro Special Blend came out I was using those, but quickly found that 100's were the same price as regulars so I would buy those and cut the tips off to make them king size and then re-roll the excess and get more cigs for free. Just before I quit they came out with Marlboro Special Blend Black which were better than the Special Blend Reds. Now I look at smokers and LOLOLOLOL. They never listen about ecigs either. When you talk to a smoker they all agree that they want to quit, that's the funny part, but then they don't ever want to try your ecig.

I did the Marlboro special blends for awhile, but it seemed like they were looser/burned faster so I wasn't saving anything over my regular "golds". Also smoked the blacks for awhile, they were pretty good I thought and cheap when they came out, then they went up to the same price as the rest of them! Kind of like you, I only started trying everything else after the last $ increase. Pushing $60 a carton was just obscene! (yeah I know even more elsewhere).

I was a Lucky Strike man.

I occasionally enjoyed Pall Mall unfiltered and Djarum Classic (the "hand rolled", unfiltered ones that didn't have that god-awful flavoring syrup in the filter). I liked Dunhills a while ago. But I always came back to Lucky Strike.

The only thing I miss about them now is how pretty the packaging is. Raymond Lowey sure knew what he was doing.

I smoked marlboro lights then camel lights then while I was in college and poor I injected my cigarettes and while still in school and even poorer I rolled my own cigarettes from drum (obviously unfiltered). The only thing I miss about smoking is rolling my own cigarettes. After rolling thousands of cigarettes it was just as much a part of the ritual as smoking it was. I could roll a cigarette better than any machine (and still can) and it was always cool when people would ask for a cigarette and you roll one up in 15 seconds and they say holy ..... how did you do that? I started when I was 17 and started vaping when I was 24 now I'm 26 and I really do feel much better. Vaping to me is more of a hobby than a habit now. I've already got to much going on with hobbies but I was glad to add vaping to the list.

Starting at the age of 15... Virginia Slims Menthol was probably my very first pack of ciggies. Then a year or two, of Newport's. Then Marlboro (full-strength).. a year of Doral lights. Couple years of Marlboro menthol lights. Made the switch to non-menthol... smoked Marlboro reds/mediums whatever they chose to call them. Over a pack a day, for 37+ years except for the 2x when I was pregnant (but... lit one up just a few hours after giving birth.. haha!) Then discovered these e-cigs and except for 2 nights since February 2012 have never gone back. Never missed them. Marlboros taste like s___t to me now.

I can honestly say that I won't ever go back, because this is just way too much more enjoyable and more fun! :p

I started with Marlboro lights, then I switched to Marlboro reds. After that I alternated between Marlboro Methol Lights and Marlboro Smooth. I settled on Camel Crush and Camel Methol Silvers for a few years before I started vaping. I started at the age of 19 and I'm 29 now when I finally quit earlier this year - May 1st to be exact :) I tried a cigarette few weeks ago and it was disgusting - and at this point - I find myself hardly craving a cigarette and more surprisingly over this weekend, when I had a severe toothache from an abscess that I don't really even have the desire to vape anymore.

Not that I don't vape often still, but I normally vape all day while I'm in my room. Since this weekend I forget a LOT and I'm like "oh crap, I could be vaping!" and I take 2 hits and forget about it again for another hour or two :)

For what it's worth, those Sobraine Black Russians kicked ....! :) I remember my Dad (who was from Poland) telling me that all American cigarettes tasted pretty awful to him. I found the Sobraine at an exclusive Chicago tobacco shop for him .. very pricey but the tobacco color was golden and not brown (just like he remembered) and SO..VERY.. MUCH.. STRONGER. Gave me a bit of a headache, as I recall.

I wish Dad was still with me today... would love to be able to turn him on to vaping!!
