I just got my eGo this week and absolutely love it. I have had a couple people make comments about the e-cigs having almost as many carcinogens as an analog. What are they hearing/reading that suggests this? Could it be true? They have me doubting my decision now. :( Here is what one commenter said.....

"Heard you're smoking them e-cigs. Be careful, they have nearly as many carcinogens as a regular cigarette, minus the tissue damage of a regular"

It would be interesting to know where they heard that. One thing to be aware of is that there's an organized disinformation effort ongoing by those who stand to loose money due to increasing popularity of vaping (big tobacco, big pharmacy & big government).

I would question anyone who claimed vaping is without risk. I quit smoking accidentally, but continue to vape, and view it as a greatly reduced risk alternative.

They are making it up, as they are too jealous/too poor to switch. These are statements of people that have small and closed minds.

1) They cannot afford e-cigs, so try to talk you out of it.
2) They cannot give up the analogs, and want you to suffer with them.
4) They want you to stink, smell, and have rotten teeth just like they do.

While I have seen that the FDA, big tobacco, and big pharmaceutical want to get rid of them in ANY underhanded way they can, EVEN they do not compare carcinogens. EVEN the FDA says the chemicals are food grade, but there has not been enough testing to confirm what the additives do when inhaled.

Just remember, MISERY LOVES COMPANY. Anything they can do to bring you down makes them feel better.

First let me say that is absolute crap.

Cigarettes have over 50 carcinogens.
Electronic cigarettes MAY have a couple, and they may not even make it to your lungs.

And even if they do, the concentration of those few carcinogens are 1500 less times than cigarettes.
About the same as the patch, gum, lozenges, and the rest of the failed quit smoking pharmaceuticals.

I have this problem with my Mom. We have a strange relationship. She looks to me for information and advice because according to her I am so smart. Yet if a customer comes into her shop and tells her "I heard those ecigs are worse then regular cigs" I just have to drop my jaw at her. Because she then doubts me and stops using hers AGAIN, she has started vaping at least 4 times in the last yr but never stops smoking because she says she is afraid of these things.
I wish people would get their facts or information straight before scaring all the little old ladies of the world.

Tell them that if they really believe that, you have a bridge to sell them.

Sorry, a bit cynical today. Might try, "Why don't you do some research and find out the truth. Or do you actually believe everything the FDA and government tell you."

If they say yes, I walk away, they're idiots anyway.
If they say no, I hand them envelope label with the address to ECF on it.

Consider me your recycling center for Njoy Pro, Smoking Everywhere Gold, Cloud 9, Smoke 51 Trio, and DSE103 useless batteries.
Other hardware if it’s still usable.
Those I loan out to/give to thank you.

I would just laugh and challenge them to prove it. They won't be able to because the few tests that HAVE been done (one by the FDA) showed one or 2 carcinogens MAX and they were unable to repeat their results in subsequent experiments (it may have been the original sample was contaminated but even if it wasn't, its nothing comparable to the VAST amounts of carcinogens in cigarettes.
You have to wonder the motivation of the person who said that to you - Ive run into people like that who tell people on diets (who are succeeding and feeling great) they've 'lost too much weight and look ill' (when they clearly look healthy and sexy!)
Always look for the ulterior motive.

Since no one truly knows the difference between the two, all you can honestly use is your own personal health and how you feel each day. Most of the people I have seen on here feel better being off traditional cigarettes.

I would tell these people "I don't really know but I can say for sure I feel 100x better than I ever did smoking, and isn't that what really matters?".

Whats the term- oh yeah, PLAYER HATERS!..Some ppl just hate to admit it wasnt their idea, and hate to see you taking that leap of faith before them, even family. As far as carcinogens...The response to that would be " oh yeah, which ones mr. scientist?"
There are 4 main ingredients to your e cig liquid. Propylene glycol (which has been tested in hospitals and proven a great anti viral for the air), vegetable glycerin (on walmart shelves), usp grade nicotine (found in several plants and foods) and food flavorings (found on walmart shelves)
Granted, some liquids contain tobacco absolute and a couple other extracts, but all ingredients are usp food grade. Just because its new to THEM, doesn't make it new. And in a month or so when your jogging a mile again as they weaze up the front steps, be sure to remind them how their analogs are so much better for them, and so you'll allow them to keep them to THEMSELVES :)

Lets do a little comparison here:
Cigarettes: 4000 additives ( 50 of which are known carcinogens) Tar which is proven to cause a lot of lung problems in smokers and carbon monoxide (would you suck on the tailpipe of your car?)
VS
ECigs: No tar No carbon monoxide (something has to actually BURN for these to be present) and 1 identified possiblity of a carcinogen that was found in only one cart and on the outside of it not the inside.
IMO: I'm gonna stick with ecigs becuz of the risk reduction. And so far two of my doctors completely agree with this....so until they say differently thats my take on it.

And you really don't have to SAY anything....The CASAA ( Consumer advocates for smokeless alternatives assoc) and the ECA (electronic cigarette assoc) have plenty of documentation to print out on the subject of the safety of ecigs vs analogs if I were you I'd print a couple of those and hand them out when ppl say stuff like that. The only way to combat misinformation is to have the information :)

I am only 18 days in, and I have noticed a huge difference in my overall health. I had been getting red dry patches of skin on my face for the past year or two. I now realize this coincided with when I really upped my cig intake to a pack or more a day. Anyways those reoccurring dry patches are gone. I can now walk up a couple of flights of stairs without being out of breath. I had been a very active/athletic person for my entire life, until the past year or so. I have noticed that little things like walking the dog or carrying things from my car to my house are no longer a dreaded chore. I have also dropped almost 10 lbs without even trying. Probably from the longer walks with my dog.

lol. yep. Now that I think about it, I have been vaping a lot of my deserts. Banana Cream pie, and cinnabomb from vaporbomb are delicious. Cinnabomb is almost like popping a atomic fireball in your mouth. Mmmm. If only I could find steak and potato flavor.
