Oh yeah...i forgot about this for a second...I had posted to facebook when I was about 20 days into this that I'd quit smoking using the ecig and one of my friends said almost the exact same thing that he'd heard they were almost as dangerous as ecigs...I posted a mile long post (ok maybe not an actual mile but it was long) about all the research I had done on the topic including the PG results I'd found etc....AND in the end said that I was pretty happy with no more pain when I took a breath....His response was "well I guess you've done you're research." Then he said congrats on quitting ciggies

People have a tendency to react/act this way...

We call the buzz kills, debbie downers...

YouTube - ‪Debbie Downer Noise‬‎

If you look closer at these folks, you'll likely discover that they also repeat this same negativity towards other things... like: did you know fabric softener causes skin disorders? bottled water contains 944 chemicals... diet soda makes you fatter, chewing gum gives you TMJ, lovin' causes std's... your body eliminates 90% of vitamin content, headphones ruin your ears...

The law of life is that anything that is too good to be true typically is... but... vaping has got to be an improvement over smoking... possibly a very significant improvement.

There is always going to be someone who wants to rain on your parade. My mom, when she was alive, and my sister were the 'voices of doom' about everything. If my mom were still here, she wouldn't believe that i've been tobacco free for as long as I have. I haven't even told my sister nor my son. I just got so tired of being condemned in my own house. They have all the rights and I have none. NOT ANYMORE! hehehehehe! One thing about having to eat words...NO CALORIES!:laugh:

I know it's simplistic, but I'd just point out that nicotine isn't a carcinogen, and the juice uses food grade glycol and glycerin mixed with food flavorings.

If they really have more (dubious) information than just some ridiculous word of mouth badvertising, then let them bring it up. But more than likely, keeping it super simple will do the trick.

We obviously don't have all of the health and safety information that we would like or need, but the anecdotes and other information to be found here, including the feedback that our bodies are giving us, are enough to justify our commitment to vaping over smoking until definitive studies are available.

what Banjo said ;) Don't let anyone discourage you. It's such a good thing you're doing for yourself to quit smoking - keep it up!

One of the people that reacted negatively toward it at first was my brother. He smokes a pack a day if not more. He happened to be in town this past weekend. To make a long story short, he had me order a eGo for him after using mine for a day. I was so glad he liked it... :D

There you go! & the vine keeps growin'-n-growin'. Most people after a while, when they see YOU haven't croaked from it-- waffle & change sides/opinions.

"Heard you're smoking them e-cigs. Be careful, they have nearly as many carcinogens as a regular cigarette, minus the tissue damage of a regular"

Hmmm.... Let me see.... Just what IS an ecig? Well, there's a battery. Don't think using that will cause cancer. There's an atomizer which is made up of a wire that electricity flows through and I've never heard of a light bulb causing cancer. Then there's the juice. What the heck is in THAT scary stuff? PG: Propylene Glycol, it's also in soft drinks, cake frosting, food coloring, baby formula, injected medicines, asthma inhalers, etc, etc. PG is FDA approved for all of those uses so I guess that's pretty safe. Next is VG: Vegetable Glycerin. It's in a bunch of stuff we consume every day and is FDA approved as well so that checks out. There's also the flavorings though. I'm not sure what exactly is in all of those! Ah-HA!...... Oh, wait. if it's the flavorings maybe we should ban candy and baked goods and just eat plain tofu and rice cakes for every meal..... Never mind.
The only thing left is nicotine. OK, so the nicotine isn't good for you, that's true. Then again neither is caffeine. So I guess that a cup of coffee is as dangerous as a pack of Luckys.
Anyone who says that ecigs have as many carcinogens as cigarettes is just plain full of spit. They have no clue as to what they are talking about and can be discounted as rational, useful human beings. Screw those idiots!

Whew!.... I feel better now.
