Clones just use another grade of stainless steel/ material, a different chip, different manufacturing process or just an OEM product. The only different here is the cost of shipment and the risk it involved. Are you going to pay $300 for an authentic one versus $150 for a clone, while considering if the item will not pass custom? Haha, doesn't matter if your pocket is deep enough.

For me, the clones are kind of like generic versions of the original. Being on a tight budget, I use quite a few generic things. Generic drugs, store brand food instead of "name" brand and such. Mostly, the generics seem to work for me. Except for Hellman's mayo.

I have only compared and used the Patriot dripper to it's clone but did notice a weight difference. The clone being lighter. Does lighter equate with less quality? Probably but, the (my) clone seems to work fine for me.
