In the initial stages after the purchase of a PV kit there is sometimes some back and forth between analogs and the PV. Is there any specific thing that got you "over the hump" and on to only using the PV? My mother is in this stage right now a little over a week after I gifted her with a few Volt batteries and about 12 different HHV flavors. I don't want to push her so I have been trying to open my eyes and ears and see what is the limiting factor here. But if you all had a few things to look out for that would be great. I mean, I guess I am just happy she is using it at all, but I would like to help her make that transition if possible. Thanks in advance.

I was there but went back... long story and a conscious decision. What worked for me was not starting the day with a cigarette and vaping a stronger nic juice I liked that didn't taste like a fruit or dessert. I always smoked more right after getting up so that's why the stronger nic and the throat was important. It was more reminiscent of a cigarette and each day the time I had a real one got later and later until it was 3pm before I even thought of one. I also started not taking any cigarettes anywhere where I used to smoke... like sitting outside. I took my PV instead. But I do believe that the juice is the biggest key. Vaping dessert or fruit just never made me feel satisfied. My brain picked it up as having smoked. You can't get a juice that's exactly like one but I've come pretty close.

ooops... that didn't sound right... I didn't go back to my old 2PAD smoking. I still vape but was doing it exclusively and found I did better allowing myself to smoke if/when I wanted to within reason. I don't beat myself up if I have 4 a day as opposed to 2 a day or none. I figure there are other things in my cig brand that my body wants an awful lot so I do better satisfying that when need be. I also smoke whenever I get seriously upset and don't beat myself up for that either. I don't do it enough to have all the health problems I did heavy smoking.

I think it's just different for different people! I wasn't even expecting to quit so soon after starting. If she's down for it you may want to adjust her nic level to the next highest. I work manager retail & thought I'd lost my mind trying to quit during the busiest shopping season of the year but I went & purchased some stronger nic for my really bad cravings & that worked for me. But every time she Vapes instead of smoking an analog is a victory!!!

After my first attempt at vaping ended (lack of support by those around me), I came back because I felt ready. Actually, no, I didn't feel ready, I just wondered if I could do it. I didn't plan to quit, just maybe cut down a bit...after a couple of weeks I was analogue free. The final hurdle was the first one of the day and, as others here have advised, I took the advice to up my nicotine from 18mg to 24mg. This worked. After a couple of weeks (and with a stinking hangover) I couldn't face the 24mg and dropped it.

The other piece of advice that really helped me was to not count the cigarettes I smoked, but the ones I didn't. Cutting down is a huge step for a lot of people so it's great that she's taking steps in the right direction.

Finally, if she's tech savvy, can she get on this forum? I credit this, my most successful quit attempt ever, to the support and help I receive in this forum. Or is there a nearby group she could go to?x

When I started vaping I made a conscious decision not to put my body through withdrawal symptoms. So I made sure I lit at least one cigarette every day. One day I woke up and realized I hadn't had my daily cigarette the day before, so immediately I went to my half pack I had left and lit one. Took one drag and it tasted awful, took a second drag for good measure and it didn't taste any better. Took a third drag and I almost puked. I found that my body was telling me I didn't need cigarettes any more. That was 10 months ago.

You have to want to quit first. For a long time, I knew I should quit, but I enjoyed cigs too much. I tried all the methods to quit and came across an add for e-cigs, I figured "maybe it will help me cut down" (I had already gave up on being able to quit). When I bought my first (greensmoke I think) it was enough to tell me that there was something to e-cigs that patches, gum, cold-turky, drugs, therapy or hyptnosis didn't have...

I found ECF at the same time I was waiting on my kit to arrive in the mail and started educating myself. Mail comes in and I find a DOA batt and 4 dead carts. GS replaced them promptly. I cut back from 1.5 PAD to 2 cigs a day while trying out all the 14mg sampler cart flavors I got. Bad carts, good carts/bad longevity, short battery life... By the time I realised how crappy my GS gear was, I was educated just enough to venture into some kr808 gear. I was back to smoking while waiting on the mail and was analog free two days after getting it in (mainly because I had one full pack of smokes left and I didn't want to waste the $$). A week later I pull the half pack out of the fridge "just to see..." and realised that I hated the taste of them.

Never looked back.

Mark, just encourage her to vape a little each day. Tell her to try to replace a few cigarettes with vaping.

Sometimes, it takes a while. :)

If she wants to quit, she will transition, even if her pace of doing so is different than yours, mine, etc.
