I love when people jump into a thread without reading everything that's been posted so far. Almost as much as I love people who don't look to see if their question has been asked/answered in another thread further down the page.

It's all so hard...I can't understand...I can't read...I don't know how...

Come on guys. Put your big boy/girl underwear on. Instant gratification without having to think is what some people are after...simplicity isn't always the fastest or cheapest.

Very nice wv2win. Thank you for the link.

Sassyonemeis, you keep saying you want your PV to be "simple" and that your eGo 510 is that device. Well, a 5 volt GLV2 is just as simple in use as your eGo. Screw in atty, apply eliquid in whatever manner you deem simple and push the button. The process is exactly the same. The end result, however, is significantly different. Because I believe for most new vapers, when they say they want their PV to be most like an analog, what they really mean without necessarily knowing it, is they want the "inhaled feel" and consistency of an analog. A good 5 volt or variable volt PV just plain and simply provides better throat hit, better battery life and better consistency than your eGo 510 and much better than a regular 510, mini, etc. A better PV almost always provides less hassle because they are built better, hold up better and are more consistent.

Saying all that, I still realize that most newbs can't get over the visual issue. So I regularly suggest an eGo/Riva 510 or VGO 801 to new vapers. But in reality when it comes down to pure performance that is closer to the "inhaled feel" of an analog, those of us recommending bettery battery PV's, know of what we speak.

And here is a site that summerizes many of the better battery PV's for those who are interested (I stopped saying mod, as it's usefulness, as pointed out earlier in this thread, has more than past):

Why is it that someone will post a question, (think newbies), looking for a simple answer or opinion, yet get highly technical responses? Part of the reason that newbies are overwhelmed when they start digging around here is the massive amount of forcible opinions and overly technical information. I realize that so many of us here have been doing this is a while (I'm not one of them... still a newbie really), and that through all of your trials and errors have happened upon information that you think is useful and beneficial, and then proceed to throw it all down to a newbie and expect them to digest it, when most often it just confuses overwhelms them even more. Not everyone is a tech head so spilling the tech stuff like everyone understands it is sort of obnoxious, especially on the newbie forum.

I think most newbies are simply looking for a SIMPLE unit that WORKS first and foremost, most admit they want something that 'looks" like a cigarette. I'd be willing to bet $20 that NONE would buy a box mod or a mod like a provari or some other super large battery unit as their first PV. They just need some assistance getting started yet they are very often overwhelmed with overly technical information that they dont understand or advice to just bite the bullet and buy some huge "best of the best" mod, and oh dont forget the low resistance blah blah and oh yeah raise your nic level. Not everyone even has a desire for ultra large variable voltage devices that look like a bomb detonator, even people who've been at this a while. They find something that works for them (and yeah, sometimes it's STILL a 510 with the pretty LED on the end) and they just stick with it and vape happily ever after.
Hi Sassy,
I was doing the same thing. Heck I still stalk the forums just reading on everything. However I did I guess you could say bite the bullet and bought a box mod. Everyone is different tho. Some like the light and the look of the real cigarette, others prefer the box bottom feeder. I guess it comes down to personal preference. I am not sure if you have checked out the chat part but I have had a few experiances in the chat room and people were very helpful. I hope this helps.

Well, thank you? BTW, Sassy IS the OP

Yes…she is…Unfortunately that really doesn’t add any relevance to your comment to her….I don’t recall her "damsel in distress" plea for help….Maybe I just missed it among all the other clutter…

That’s my last wack at the horse…..promise..

OP has a valid point. When answering a question, it would be helpful to understand something about the person asking the question, how much exposure, experience, knowledge are they bringing to the table?

Although I agree, if that had been the OP's only point, this thread wouldn't have gone 19 pages. :)

Yeah, well I love it when people think they are AlmightyGod.

Oh wait....

You are. :p

Perhaps a simple PV is indeed the way to go for a noobie like my self. My experience 6 weeks in started with eGo and Riva kits my self and girl friend. Still on my first atty, battery last all day and vapes well with any of my juice of which I have lots PG, VG and combo.
Have added passthru's which work great at work and at home, mega batteries, back up 510 atty's and also Tank atty's which are nice but do have some leaking issues if I draw to hard or let the tank cartridge get to low.
So I keep reading and start lusting after a Mod. I want the best spend 140.00 on a great bottom feeder, ok so I also need AW imr 14500 batteries 4 will probably get me buy for awhile another 42.00 and don't forget I really need a good charger yap a Pila around 50.00. Ok almost ready but....I should also snag some cisco LR 306 1.5 & 2.0 ohm atty's and drip tips for th and vapor for different juice.
All-right only in 270.00 or so, everything arrives 3/14/11 battery charged Mod set up as per instructions and i'm stoked. Load my favorite juice pull my trusty 510 atty off the eGo and drip tipput on the Mod prime it up, squonk the bottle and away we go. 10 minutes in this is so cool I really need to try the LR306 2.) atty it's going to be even better. Pull the 510 add the LR306 prime get ready for vaping bliss 3 nice big hits loving it....oh what is that smell, where did that vapor go, what the ????.

Long story short had this unit for an hour and it needs to go back to the manufacture, spring has become 1/4 inch shorter and the battery was smoking. What could have caused such a malfunction possible the atty shorted out the unit.
Ok LR atomizers don't have extended warranty my loss. The Mod will be sent back and repaired and returned heck i should be back in vaping bliss in 7-10 days. Juice a cart fire up the eGo and away I go damn this thing works as good as the day I got it.

What about TH? If all the other benefits outweigh the TH/Flavor/Sensation then Bravo!

I too am amazed this thread is still going. LOL!!!! I must agree with the OP. SIMPLE!!! Although after reading through this thread, in my "OPINION" about 2-3 other people made a good point too. The rest just got rude. In my "OPINION" i think vet forget "sometimes" where they come from. The Vaping terminology is so native to them they forget they too were once a confused little newbie. The community support is AWESOME here. Don't get me wrong but, as i hope we all see in this thread NOBODY is wrong. Just opinionated. Not a bad thing. Like me, In my "OPINION" box mods are the ugliest things i have ever seen. Am i wrong? NO!! but, it doesn't mean i am right. Just my "OPINION" I would never want one, buy one or, even EVER recommend one. That's just me. I started on a Yeti 510. I do want to get a good looking mod (what "MY" opinion of good looking is) but like so many people starting out. I am NOT "Daddy War Bucks", so i cant get one right now. That is where the "simple" comes into play. Like it was stated before in this thread. Most people just starting out in vaping don't want to spend a lot of $$$$ just to turn around and not like it. That's throwing $$$ away. Some of you people might have it to throw away but, not everybody does. Everybody is a newbie at some point in time and want "simple" to start out. Anyway, like everybody else has done. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. Remember, this is just my "OPINION" I am not speaking "FACTS" here. ( well the statement about the box mods being ugly as hell "to me" is fact) LOL!!!!!! :)
To each their own. As long as everybody is vaping and not smoking, who cares right??

I'm on to another thread. I have enjoyed all the info. i have read on this thread and again love all the support and the "family-like" feeling this forum has. I am so happy i found this place. Have a good day people. :)

Here is a my learned opinion, the biggest drawback e-cigarettes have are - the batteries.

Every wonder why many experienced PV users tend to go for the bigger batteries, like the AW 18650, 2600mAh battery? It is because those will last a couple days on a single charge. That is what I use, and since I am using a 2.0 Ω atty and it is a 3.7V battery, it runs at (nominally) 1.85 amps (Current=Voltage/Resistance), or 1850 milliamps (1 amp = 1000 milliamps), thus giving me 1.40 hours (2600mAh/1850mA=1.40h) of ON time, and 1.4 hours is a lot of vaping when a drag is about 3-7 seconds. That works out to between 720 and 1680 drags.

I know newbies want a PV that looks and feels like a cigarette, I did as well. Ever wonder why the Joye 510 has a poor reputation for battery life (180mAh)? 3V, at 3 Ω, equals 1 amp or 1000 milliamps which gives you .18 hours (180mAh/1000mA = 0.18h) of ON time. That is just over 10 minutes or roughly between 92 and 216 drags. For the record, most 510 attys are lower than 3 Ω, which shortens the life of the battery even more.

Sure, people new to vaping should start with an inexpensive PV, if you like vaping but are frustrated with battery life (time between charges as well as overall life, running those little e-cig batteries at this capacity kills them quickly) please know there is better out there. My wife tried vaping and just didn't like it at all, I'm glad she didn't waste money buying a high dollar mod. I love vaping so I spent the money to get something that was actually EASIER. I fill a 3ml bottle in the morning, pop in a fresh 18650 battery, and vape all day without changing carts, cartomizers, juice, or batteries. The only drawback is searching for the holy grail of juices, I enjoyed that journey as well, and settled on Honey Flue Nut, 555, Applewood Tobacco, and RY4, all of which I can vape for days on end. It don't get much easier than that.

That and I find the wooden box mod, specifically the Phidias, is quite a thing of beauty.

But hey, it's just my OPINION... along with some facts. :?:

YMMV,
Jag :vapor:
