Ok, most of you are saying that starting with something easy to use was a newbie mistake. But did any of you want to spend $200 or more to start out? Did any of you know how to use a rebuildable mod at the beginning? I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm brand new to this and I'm just trying to stop smoking analogs. If I can find a joyetech Ego Twist with a decent size battery and a good clearomizer that doesn't leak without paying much $$, it seems a reasonable purchase. Trying to navigate thru a bunch of stuff I don't yet understand to purchase something I can't put together - for me - would definitely be a mistake.

i paid $59 at local B&M for what i later found to be a 650mah genuine joyetech ego c-twist, kanger T3S, 2 spare coils, usb charger, and 12ml of pink spot vapors liquid

i walked in and walked out vaping in less than 15 minutes. it was worth every damn penny. doing it online as a complete n00b quickly became too overwhelming with all the weird new terminology and the zillion different online vendors. i was going insane googling at 3am

sure, i guess i could have saved a few bucks online but see above ^

best $59 ive ever spent. id do it again 10x over

There's a difference between easy to use and junk. There is also nothing wrong with buying a cheap eGo kit or cheap VV/VW device. It depends on your viewpoint. As long as you are comfortable knowing that an eGo has a maximum life expectancy of six months and is easily broken, buy one. There are many, many vapers on this forum who use eGo batteries exclusively, and have for years. They prefer the form factor.

However, if you need to quit smoking, have tried an eGo, cig-a-like, or disposable and thought, "I could quit smoking using this stuff," Then you have a choice. You can carry a backup device and accessories, or you can buy one of the durable mods and have peace of mind. It's hard dropping $200 on something that you have no experience with. I understand that.

Get your 20 posts under your belt, get verified, then spend some time in the ECF classifieds. Pretty much anything you buy (mod or topper wise), you can turn around and sell for what you paid for it. You'll be out shipping costs, but you got to try it out.

As for the good clearomizer for your eGo, I recommend the ProTank Mini.

Edit: If you are handy with basic tools and don't care about looks, you can make your own variable voltage vaping devices for under $10. Here's just one example: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...18-my-vv-altoids-tin-lm2596-improved-mod.html

When I first started out, I made the mistake of buying too much stuff thinking I was going to stay on the same equipment for a long time. My MVP came with an iClear30 so I bought 2 boxes of replaceable heads for it. I cracked my iClear30 the 3rd day I had it. Now I have 20 heads and no more iClear30.

I also bought a bunch of juices online that I thought I would have liked because they were "basic" flavors like cherry, cheesecake, etc. Turns out I hated them and went to a local B&M and bought a ton more juices after I tried them out. The juices I originally bought have been sitting for about 5 months untouched. Maybe they've steeped enough to where I might be able to vape them a little, lol.

When I first got my Kayfun, I tried vaping 18mg nic juice. I had to lay down after my first few hits.

Before I started vaping and before I knew what mechanical mods were, my buddy let me try his mech. I spent about 5 minutes trying to look cool while at the same time figuring out how to fire it without having to ask anyone around me.

I used to vape in my car with my windows up and my AC off so I could do tricks and stuff. It was all fun n games until I got pulled over by a cop and got searched.

I luckily was able to skip the unsuitable-junky-rip off 1st PV story thanks to a friend who'd been into vaping (tho at the time he still smoked), so I got a good starter kit. The mistake I made is with the juice. I thought since I chain smoked I'd need higher nic. Apparently not. Earlier this month, went off analogues cold turkey, and started chain vaping 24 mg nic. God, I made myself so sick, but I could barely put down my pv long enough for the symptoms to pass before I had to pick it up again. And because we don't have a vape shop near us, we have to order everything. Waiting for the lower nic juice to come was a blur of headaches, jitteriness and nausea :C

Other than that, my biggest mistake was (well, is, since I'm still struggling with it) is upping my water intake. Before vaping, I'd go so long just on coffee and diet soda that I literally couldn't remember the last time I'd had plain water, so now I'm working on getting hydrated for once in my life, instead of living in a constant state of mild dehydration. Dry skin, getting light headed in a warm shower, and chronic cotton mouth is not fun times for me :/ Nor, now I think about it, does it paint a very attractive picture, hahahaha

Wonderful tips and anecdotes here! I've been vaping for about 3 weeks now and did a great deal of lurking. It took off after trying an eGo V V3 with some 18mg juice. It was a tad strong but it kept me away from the analogues (previously 3/4 pack a day). After my first week I ordered a provari mini and 3 extra batteries from a Canadian store. However, they didn't have any chargers in stock so I ended up ordering this and that from here and there, and was charger-less upon arrival of my provari mini. Luckily found a B&M that sold a cheap adjustable 18650 charger.

Long story short-- if you want to avoid the emotional stress when ordering your first really exciting mod/device, make sure you make a checklist to avoid unnecessary travel/shipping costs.

You're right, and it reminds me of WHY I bought that eRoll -- it seemed like the easiest way to get started, and it really was easy, just a large pain with such a small battery and small tank, and everything about it is proprietary, except the USB charging cable. But when you first get started and don't know all this weird lingo, proprietary isn't a bad way to go, for a starter kit -- you have everything you need, right there.

About where my head is now. Overpriced InFeeling eGo starter kit, but now know I would do it again in a heartbeat...

First mistake was buying the Blu kit. Used it about a half day and put it down to never use again. That was about two years ago.

Second mistake was buying a knock off ego kit. Wished that I had bought my MVP 2 to begin with (got it two days later). Night and day difference and never looked back.

Well I guess that the ego kit wasn't a complete waste because it did help me quit smoking but it hasn't been used since the MVP arrived. I quit smoking for good the day after I got the MVP.

Biggest mistake? Too many to choose from. How bout the messiest? Got my evod (love it still) enjoyed it immediately. Got into my groove with vaping for a couple of weeks. Then, one night sitting up in bed watching a movie, my battery was dead. No biggie, I have extras charged because YA'LL are smart and told me to always have a backup for my backup. Go to twist my battery off and low and behold, *eewww* I twisted the top off instead of the bottom and now I have strawberry banana all over me, my sheets and my comforter! Who knew that ejuice would spread so dang fast! Let me be clear.... The juice was not absorbed into my bedding right away, it spread out everywhere like fat in a hot skillet! So now, I'm jumping out the bed, hollering at the husband to get up and move! This stuff is everywhere. I grab a rag, clean it up, (I ain't changing sheets at midnight) and get on with life. The whole room reeks of strawberry banana. I reek. And now I can no longer vape the strawberry banana. I also pay way more attention when unscrewing the battery! Over a week later, all bedding has been washed and I swear, I can still smell the damn strawberry banana!
