I think it's more than 20-25 percent, but I'm not sure by how much. It's a good viable replacement for cigarettes. In the past the only thing that made it hard was finding ecigs and supplies. Now that vape shops are multiplying and tobacco and head shops carry pretty good stuff, it getting easier to get. Thus more people will continue to vape.

I started vaping back in 2009 but I quit because it was a pain in the ... to order stuff online and wait for it to arrive. The more available it gets, the more people will continue to vape!

I would guess that nearly 80% of the people that find this forum eventually succeed.

I would guess that maybe 10% of people who buy a cig-a-like, have no brick and mortar, have not found this forum, and have no friends that vape might succeed.

And in between those two extremes lie all sorts of various situations that lead to various success rates.

I stopped on the spot after 40 1.5 packs a day. Not breathing and wheezing is a pretty good motivator. Still, I wasn't planning on quitting it's just that vaping is far superior to a cigarette. I've never even had a random thought of smoking a cigarette. Enough is enough.

Bizarrely enough I'm sitting here smoking atm because I ran out of e-liquid and my vapemail won't be here for another day or so - I'm actually really excited to get my new PV/atty and getting vaping again - roll-ups are... blech. :D

As soon as I had a reliable all day vape I never had another cigarette. I had been smoking 2 1/2 packs a day for years. My first vape was a pathetic flea market e-cig called the Smart E-cig, which was really quite wretched, but at least I didn't need to smoke while I was using it. I went out and got an eGo rig with spare battery and that was the end of cigarettes for me.

Perhaps it was because I was a heavy smoker that I needed more than an eGo setup. In about five weeks I was using a mech and RBA, rolling wicks and wrapping coils. That was what hit the spot for me, and I have three mechs two RBA's and an RDA now. I could never light up another stinky stick, ever. The very idea is sickening.

I would say that the percentage of smokers who "wanted to quit" using cigarettes and have used vaping successfully as an alternative means of nicotine intake are around 80%..
I just don't understand how some one who has posted here ( and there are many others also ) can run out of e-liquid or not have a back up device..and then go back to smoking.. to me that means they do not take their habit seriously, or are very careless. Vaping really works, and is cheap and accessible. Those low percentages seen haphazardly strewn around air are for the anti-vape groups to use and misguide people who are looking to find a real solution..Vaping is extremley efficient and they don't want it seen that way with a healthy percentage number..

My wife stopped smoking at the same time i did - i was 40 a day for 30 yrs. Subsequently 2 others at work have quit using ego-type devices, and 2 tried and went back to smoking or chewing tobacco.

So a better % than conventional quitting methods. One of those that failed to quit was single with no kids, but not smoking in front of children was a good motivation for at least one of my colleagues that did stop. This is in no way scientific at all - and those that have remained vaping have had a valuable resource to draw upon - me!
