So I've noticed a few threads with mentions of "deeming regulations",,,,,,,,

and I have no clue what that is,,I've tried googling, and I've tried looking on here, and it's all just so freaking confusing,,,,,

I got out of vaping for about a year and recently got back in,,,

I do remember over a year ago they were talking about POSSIBLY NOT allowing any e-cigs and products that were not around on a certain date,,,and it APPEARS that might have something to do with these deeming regulations,,,

but could someone "dumb it down" for me, or point me to a reference that makes it easier to understand??

I need to figure out what I need to do before this kicks in,,,,,,,,

HAS IT? I can't even figure out if it's passed or ,,,what??

I use Provaris and replaceable 18650 batteries,,,,,do I need to buy those in bulk or something? It seems to me they must be used for OTHER things,,,,,so, how could they get rid of them??

thanks in advance

Your best bet is to be prepared as it's all a tangled mess and since the FDA deemed ecigs (and parts) as tobacco, states can have a field day as they have already in a couple states. If you don't DIY your own juice get nicotine anyways to freeze and learn later as that will most likely be taxed to the moon if we are able to still get in months to come. The flow could stop at anytime. Backup of what you like to vape is a good idea and Provari is a good mod so you already have a solid device.

Unless something changes, tanks and coils in use today won't be on the market in the US after 8/8/18. Some are moving to winding their own coils on rebuildable tanks or atomizers, others are stocking up on premade heads. Many are getting multilples of the tank or tanks they like. One compromise is to stock up on heads that can be rebuilt should that become necessary. Wicking and wire materials should remain available long term, as they have other applications.

Your Provari's are an extremely reliable and durable mod, so you've chosen your battery device well. My first Provari is five years old and still works good as new.

Batteries for the Provari should always be available from specialty vendors like IMR Batteries or RTD as they are used in flashlights and power tools that have nothing to do with vaping.

Tanks and replacement coils may or may not be available in the US post-2018 when the last of the regulations are scheduled to go into effect. US Customs could seize these items as contraband from foreign countries. Myself and many others have chosen to be self-relient by making our own coils and wicks for RBA's, while others have stockpiled supplies for the next several years.

The main issue though is e-liquid containing nicotine. Nicotine is now considered a tobacco product, and will fall under the strictest of the Deeming. It's quite possible that the only ecig products that will be available after 2018 will be the closed-system cigarette-size devices like Big Tobacco's Vuse or Blu cigalikes. Many vapers have learned to make their own e-liquid for their current mods and tanks, and have stockpiled large quantities of liquid nicotine while they can. Flavoring agents, Pg and Vg are easy to purchase as they too are used in other industries besides vaping and won't fall under the Deeming.

If you wonder WHY all of this has occurred, watch the following videos:

The FDA has deemed electronic cigarettes, and pretty much anything related to e-cigs, as tobacco products or tobacco product components.

This subjects all of the products to extremely strict regulations and costly testing, and it is likely that few to none of the current products will be available once the regulations fully take effect in August 2018.

Stocking up is an option, and not a bad idea, since no one knows how the market will change over the next couple years. Just because something CAN be around until 2018 doesn't mean it necessarily WILL be.

Equally(or more) important is to get involved, urge your representatives to support changes to the regulations, join CASAA.

And let's not forget the also possible Cole Bishop amendment. However, this is the sort of apocalypse you can affordably plan for if you spend time finding reliable hardware and become proficient at DIY liquids (dead simple once you have some recipes you actually like) and building your own coils (easier than you think with practice). It's not a "build a deluxe" bomb shelter with 3 years of freeze dried food stashed sorta apocalypse.

Hopefully things will turn out better, but even a worst case scenario is survivable with some modest preparation.

Yeah I have to get into DIY for just this reason and order some replacement parts for my mods and tanks
