I have multiple different syringes that I transfer flavors with. Ranging from 1ml to 12ml. I use 50ml syringes for my pre mixed bases (I mix my pg/vg/nic in large 1000ml jugs and use what I need as I need it). All of this gets mixed directly into the bottle I intend to store it in.

Here's a thread that has all the info you need, with illustrations and links to other sites for videos. You can use beakers or bottles to mix in and you can mix with a scale or with a dropper/pipette and both are equally accurate. It all depends on your individual preference.

I use a combination of syringes or/or graduated cylinders for measuring depending on the volume I'm trying to mix. I prefer to mix by volume personally.

I pour directly into bottles and shake. Done!!!

I use bottles ranging from 120ml up to 500ml depending on how much I'm mixing. As mentioned above, leave a good amount of room in the bottle to shake/mix it good. I have the big bottles primarily for mixing/shaking and once I've shaken it a few times over a day or so, I'll pour it into smaller usable bottles.

Volume here. I mix hundreds of 3-5 ml sample recipes so 1 ml syringes and the like are quicker/accurate for me. I would tend to go with weight in batches of 30 ml and up. Weight may be the way to go if your are concerned about less fuss and clean up, especially if you are doing more than a half dozen different mixes. Drops/Cylinder can also be advantages, it all depends.

I am curious what is best to use when mixing DIY juice. I have just started actually only 1 bottle so far. I found when mixing I really made a mess smh. Any suggestions on what to use? In the mixing then easily transfer it back to a bottle

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ronna :)

For Me, the Very First thing a person needs when doing DIY is a Stainless Steel Sheet Pan.

Something like this...

Toaster Oven Tray Pan, Zacfton Baking Sheet Stainless Steel Cookie Sheet Size 10 766330000669 | eBay

Spills, Drips, and Bottle Mishaps Happen. And if there is Nothing to contain things, you end up with a Big Sticky Mess.

You can find Inexpensive SS Sheet Pans at Target or Wally World. I listed the one above because I have one. It is a Nice Quality Pan that also works Great in the Broiler of my Oven.

I use a small plastic funnel to pour liquids from a mixing beaker into the smaller container bottles. You can purchase mixing equipment quite inexpensively from Bull City Flavors.

I started mixing by volume, now wish I had started mixing by weight. So much easier, especially if you premix your base and much cheaper in the long run.
That's interesting. I mix by volume because I assumed it would be easier. Being a retired nurse, I was comfortable measuring with graduated syringes.

Really it's about finding the best way for you, so I'd check out the different approaches and if one seems appealing, give it a try. There are times I'll use baking equipment I already have around (I mean, DIY is not poisonous and they are most certainly washable) but unless you want to get a scale, my hunch is you will have an easier time with funnels, syringes and etc.

Good luck,

Anna

I agree with Baditude, I don't see how mixing by weight would be easier. Everything weighs differently so you would need to know the grams/ml of everything you are using. PG has a different weight than VG, PG OR VG with nic will weigh differently than the pure versions, and each flavoring can weight a different amount. Seems like you would need a spreadsheet to keep track of the base weight for every ingredient in your stockpile.

It also seems like you would need to somehow know what the final weight should be after mixing, before you even start mixing by weight. Am I missing something?

Just curious, how is it cheaper in the long run exactly? The cost of syringes over time?

According to the OP, it appears she was asking about how to avoid a mess when making a mix in 1 thing and then transfering it to her bottle. I didn't see anything about wanting to know how to make the actual mix, as in measuring methods. ;)

If they are just wanting to know what to transfer juice from a mixing container to a storage container, then my previous post is N/A and I have no good suggestions since I mix in my final storage container.

I was fine with the measuring, nt so much with added clean up time. Now all I have to do is rinse a beaker. Not washing or replacing syringes/pipettes is a boon. Also saves paper towels. The only time I use a syringe is when adding nic to my base. I make my base 600ml at a time.
