Start simple and affordable until you figure out what you like and don't like with your vape. If you're doing it to stop smoking, you can probably start off with simple low watt mtl setups as the style of use is closer to a cigarette. Then when want to get more adventurous read around this place for info and help in deciding the next steps you might like to take. Good luck.

I started on a Smokeless Image Volt kr808d 4 1/2 years ago. I did the typical upgrade to an ego-sized but still used the cig-sized often for the first year.

During the 2013 FDA scare, I decided to get some replaceable battery mods. I got an 18650 joyetech ego-T upgrade mod (long since discontinued) and a small 14500 madvapes box mod with a horn switch. I was usuing these with cartomizers and top coil clearomizers, so performance was not a big issue...just need them to fire.

My first box mod was an Innokin MVP 3.0 I found on clearance for $20 at a B&M. Next came the Innokin SVD 2.0, though I technically didn't upgrade to that because it was still being shipped to me when I bought the MVP.

My first "upgrade" was a PICO.

Started with a eGo-T (newest next best mistake in the market circa 2/2011), then found the modders forum and decided to try my hand at building mods. First was a mosfet 18650 flashlight mod, then a madvapes vv kit into a custom, homemade zebrawood/bokote boxmod. Going on 6 years as predominantly mech bottomfeed user (REOs & home built). I have mech, VV, VW, tubes, boxes, SBS and even a few remaining eGos all over the spectrum.

Prefilled 808 cartos. Back in 2009/10. Back to cigarettes.

Ego with ce4. Then an ego twist with a nautilus for more vapor.

Graduated very quickly to a mech/rda combo. Thick clouds cruddy battery life. Finally quit smoking.

Wanted better battery life so I bought a sigelei 100watt. Used it for 18 months until I got a Therion because it looked so awesome. Stocked up on mods for the vapocalypse.

Besides the old cigalikes, my first real mod was the omega by altsmoke, same company who sold the silver bullet. Man I thought I was on top of the world vaping this big Ole mech with a tiny cartomizer on top. I then bought a v1 provari, and at variable voltage and 15 watts thought it couldn't get better. Then bought a v2 provari and a DID genny and joined ecf

Provari V1 with cartos and atties was my first in early 2012.
Went to stardusts then evod bottom coil types.
A 50cal. mech.
Then when Atlantis and subohm went mainstream got the Atlantis and an IPV mini 2 (I think). Arctic tank.
Then TC came out so got a istick 40 and some ni coils for atlantis and Arctic. Then an IPV D2 ,Presa 100, Crown, Avocado 24, 60 watt Provari Radius then a Cleito with RTA deck.
And a whole bunch of crap in between the above listed crap.
Missed some mechs and a few tanks because they were oh so forgettable.

Spend once on quality if you can.Cheers.

Started with a couple of VV eGos in July 2014... moved to an Innokin MVP 2.0 and Nautilus a few weeks later. It was a slippery slope from there. Since then I've owned 150+ mods and probably twice that number of attys.

edit: it is important to note I smoked my last cigarette ever after a 25 year pack a day habit the day I received my VV eGos. Haven't had a smoke since.

What was your first Mod and what Mod did you upgrade too. what made you upgrade and why did chose to upgrade to that mod. advice would you give someone who is new to vaping looking to upgrade.

My first rig was a 3-piece 180 mah stick battery,

I'd be chagrined to suggest what I just purchased today, that's for sure.

Being self limited to small and usb rechargeable, I stuck to that type of ego until '14 and the istick came out. Still on them.

Stayed with a carto until I trusted a clearo enough. That was 8/16.

So yeah, two Isticks and two Nautilus tanks are my stable.

Oh, won a beautiful GP PAPS V3 a few years ago. Don't have batteries or chargers tho, so I just look at it from time to time. It is an object of art, after all.

How is the smok Alien I'm considering getting it.
Its great! I'm using the stock coil that came with the baby beast and it is amazing! I even put my iSub apex on the Alien and it even brings out the performance way better than the CF 4 plus does! I'm still playing around with it but its small so i can put it in my pocket or purse with ease. You can lock it so it doesn't autofire while in said pocket/purse. And so far the battery life is phenomenal!! Totally worth it if you are so inclined to get it!

Some people have said that they have had trouble with the paint chipping and others said they haven't, so i don't know if that swings you one way or another. There are wraps for it, though, so I say it shouldn't matter as long as it still works as intended. :D:D
