I own/operate a very small business...I'm an authorized retailer for some of the nations largest satellite TV and Internet companies. So basically I run ads, people call me and order TV/Internet, and then I go to their homes and install the equipment and activate the service.

By 2011, my 3 pack/day smoking habit was catching up to me. I remember a job that year, it was the peak of our hot and humid Oklahoma summer, I was barely able to work and breathe in those conditions. I'm happy to report I breathe fine now that I've been off analogs for nearly 3 years.

Anyway, it was never really an issue smoking outdoors at customers homes, but now I vape instead.

I'm a college student studying Petroleum Engineering. Smoking was basically everywhere, so it was easy to continue my habit. Now, I've been vaping for just over two years and it's just starting to catch on on campus. Right in time, just as they're banning it across multiple campuses in Colorado.

I'm an artisan broom maker - self unemployed :)

No, really. I hand craft beautiful, functional brooms for a living.

As such I never smoked around my work to prevent the brooms from stinking. I do not have the same fears regarding vaping, so I vape whenever I want.

You can check out my website for a bit more about me and my brooms (and our farm, and my other business, web design):

Thats cool Shawn. The stuff on your site is very cool but I have to ask, how did you get around to Brooms? Did you wake up one day and say I love brooms!

I was a spinner / weaver / woodworker with my own business for about 5 years and then I came to Arkansas - specifically, the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View. This is a state park devoted to preserving and perpetuating the crafts, music, and herbal traditions of the Ozarks region. They offered me a contract as a broom maker (with a little training thrown in for good measure), and I've never looked back or been happier.

Machine automation build shop with machinists, electricians, builders, engineers, etc. I design/engrave/install the field tags. A number of us vape and it's okay on the shop floor, which was a big help when I was going to zero cigs. I've been vaping 4 months. Management likes that the vapers aren't stepping out for cig breaks.

I work in HVAC. When smoking starting to take its toll on me, I'd be winded removing furnaces/ACs from the truck and into the home. I'd be winded bringing in my tools and equipment from the truck and into the home. Scared the crap out of me as I am only 24, and not overweight, and usually the chubby old guys were the ones who got winded fast. That was the time I decided this smoking habit is starting to really kill me and I quit that day and got into vaping.

That was back in April. I can safely say my lungs are back to normal. I dont remember the last time I was out of breath at work and I just feel good. I am also back to running 4-5 miles a day after work everyday with no problems.

I'm in computer software. Over the years, we've gone from being able to smoke at our desks or in our offices, to having a smoking lounge, to having to go outside, to having to go across the street. I remember way back, we used to have a table with a row of terminals, and in between them was an ashtray, heaping with butts, half the time with a stinky little fire smoldering. Our boss once made a policy that it was only OK to smoke in a meeting if everyone agreed. If he was in the meeting, everyone agreed. I kind of miss the smoking lounge period - that place was the cultural center of the company, where you heard all the scuttlebutt. It didn't take long for me to quit going outside once I started vaping, particularly in the dead of winter. I vape at my desk, even though last fall corporate announced a policy prohibiting it. Nobody cares - I've been vaping around my colleagues for over 5 years and it doesn't bother anyone. While I miss the camaraderie of the old smoking lounge, I'm a lot more productive nowadays - more like it was in the old days when you could smoke at your desk, burning through piles of butts.

I'm a truck driver myself and I drive an 18 wheeler locally around the Memphis, TN area. I've been a truck driver for 24 years, and a 2 pack a day smoker for 27 years. Feb of last year, I was in a truck stop and watched a couple of drivers buy some e cig kits and that's when my curiosity kicked in. I knew I needed to quit smoking, but loved it too much to try and quit. Well, something had to give because my breathing was horrible. The next day, I bought a kit and threw the rest of my cigarettes away. A month later, I found this forum, and it has helped save my life. I breathe like I did at 19 years old, and everything is better. Life is good. :)

Thank you. Once I made the decision to quit smoking, I made it personal. I treated it like I was at war with Philip Morris. Everyday I fought a battle in this war and it was a tough fight for the first couple of weeks. Now, I can honestly say that I have won the war. I have beaten Philip Morris and their big tobacco empire. But I owe it all to God, my family, vaping, and this forum for getting me through this. I will NEVER go back to smoking and I will vape until I decide I don't want to anymore. But that won't be anytime soon, because honestly... Not only do I love it, it's turned out to be fun. :)
