Yup I stand corrected on the material. Now if it were machined aluminum It might be worth $20 bucks, should still be thrown in free.
Being stainless we're back to the fiddy cent number again LOL!
There is no free lunch. Working around machine shops and also receiving quotes, I've seen single pieces with about the same detail as an end cap costing well over $100. Worth it? If that $100 part is cheaper than replacing a 4 $20,000 circuit breakers and a $15,000 enclosure, yes it is. Now the mass produced end cap probably costs ProVapes $10 to produce... But they also have overhead and yes, they do need to make a profit (or they become a charity)
I bought the end cap, however with the life I'm seeing with the 18490, I may not even use it often. Likewise, there are some who would never want/need it. Could they include it $free? Yes, but that would cut into their bottom line, which helps fund the support and R&D to progress. To avoid that, they could send it free to everyone with purchase, however the price for a ProVari would have to increase. So is it worth it to make everyone pay for something that maybe 20% of the users at most are going to use? Not really.
I do agree that it is pricy. And if worth it to you, is up to you. But to say it is "gouging" is a stretch of any truth or reality. Gouging is generally referred to abnormal price hikes of essential items in time of crises. But ponder this. If gas stations didn't gouge at $20/gallon during a say hurricane evacuation, you would have the first person there pulling up with mega tanks, and cleaning the station out, and leaving everyone else stranded (or the person would buy the gas station out, and resell the gas themself at $100/gallon when station is sold out). But I digress
As I was once told- an item only has a $ value if someone is willing to pay that for it. And with that, if you like a ProVari and it's worth the price to YOU, great. If it's not, that is fine as well. No need to be hateful about it, and unless you are a shill for another company, there is nothing to gain by spreading lies, and hate to dissuade someone from making their own choices.
