Agreed. Wide bore "chuff" tips that can't be changed out are a deal breaker for me.
If I was looking for new I'd pass on these too. I'm fine with the standard drip tips. Just eyeballing the one in use now, without using a mic on it, I'd guess the bore is about 3mm at its narrowest point. And it IS the narrowest constriction which determines airflow.

If these are being used for actually dripping, it makes a degree of sense. I used to use the ego-type Mega cylinder type B atomizers for dripping. And their drip tips had a larger than average bore, for the time. But since they were literally 'drip' tips, it made sense. They weren't as big as the ones pictured at the top of the thread though. It must be a style thang. One I don't care for. But, to each their own.

I've been vaping for nearly seven years, but I smoked cigarettes for 35 years before that. My cigarettes had a draw which was NOT like sucking air through a straw.

I agree with you but the low information vapers lime them because they are used in cloud comps.

Give me a simple drip tip as seen on my avatar and i'm happy.
Or low information vapers don't understand they help to cool my preferred vape that keeps me off cigarettes.

To each his own.

I also vape to keep off cigarettes (been working for me for almost 5 years now), and I prefer higher wattage, direct lung, big drip tip vaping....because it works for me (and I would bet many other vapers as well). I have seen variations of your above statement countless times on this forum by many different members. Why is it that so many ECF members believe that because someone vapes differently than they do, they are not vaping to keep off cigarettes? This underlying attitude on ECF towards those that are not "tootle puffers" is almost becoming comical.
I'm just happy to see more than me stepping up and speaking out against the "my way or the highway" attitude finally.

And it IS the narrowest constriction which determines airflow.

Incorrect.

The narrowest point determines the most airflow possible.

Anything beyond that is added friction and restriction and helps to determine whether there's a vortex, a clean flow or buffeting depending on bore, length and shape.

And all this determines COLLECTIVELY not only air flow (in total) but also it's characteristics.

Plus, I don't drink joose through a stirring straw like when I used my kayfun drip tip... YUK

What's the deal with these oversized drip tips that manufacturers are now putting on some of the various atomizers that they are selling?

Does a tip this large really serve any kind of a purpose? I can't believe any of these atomizers flow enough air that it requires this big of a diameter drip tip.

Just a passing fad?

For the same reason you have triple battery 300watt mods and 30mm attys, consumer demand. The average consumer believes "bigger is better" and purchases accordingly. I really enjoy reading a tootlepuffer's post describing how his new 300watt mod handles his 10 watts builds just fine. I inhale DL and can appreciate the larger bore 510 drip tips but these new chuff tips are really just for aesthetics. To each their own.

I've always been a fan of the aesthetic of the big colorful chuff style caps but have only owned one a few years ago. I find they feel awkward to use and are flavor killers. The widest bore and biggest tip I'll use from time to time is a dot mod petri tip but still prefer a smaller mouth piece. There have been a few atties I've wanted to try but haven't bought purely because of a lack of 510 drip tip usability.

For reference, I generally use an avocado 24 with a decent build at 50-60 watts and an o-atty with a 28/36 clapton at around 35ish watts nowadays.

Dang, so many opinions but not one (that I saw) about the science behind them (in reference to RTAs that have a standard 510 connection, but the tip is built like a funnel and is much wider).

In simple terms, the larger tip creates a larger pull, so while the chimney and connector is still 510 size, this creates a much stronger pull with less effort. So this makes the airflow from the bottom (or top if such a tank) be pressurized as it hits the main chamber (where the coils are), so it increases the vape making, cools it faster but can produce a thicker cloud for it. But note that the tank needs to be engineered to maximize this effect. The OBS Crius is like this for example.

If you compare such RTAs with RDAs just by tip size, you aren't getting the same effect as RDAs don't have chimneys and airflow is normally direct to the coils by the sides or such.

I don't usually chime in on these threads @MMW, but I just can't resist saying
