ok... i'm outta here!!!! there are WWAAAAAAYYYY too many new yucky bugs around here!!!
Picture removed because I'm still a newbie
no we didn't kill him... but this morning i found one of these crawling on the computer desk!! i grabbed a coffee mug and a piece of paper that was lying around and trapped him in it... showed it to the in-laws and they suggested to flush it... so i took him to the bathroom threw it in the toilet and flushed... the damn thing jumped like 3 times and just sat on the edge of the bowl... i about lost it!!! i was scared and laughing at the same time... so the F-I-L came up and pushed it back in and flushed and it went down. but now i'm scared to use the bathroom... b/c it might come back and get me!!!
I have this very irrational deathly fear of spiders. It's not a pretty thing and comes complete with blood curdling screams. Even looking at the pictures gives me goose bumps and the creepies. One day there was a program on The Discovery Channel about spiders and I made the mistake of walking by as they were explaining that there are so many spiders that you are never more than 3 feet from one ever. I didn't sleep for days after hearing that. Bottom line, you are stuck with spiders around if you like it or not LOL
I don't go near them let alone kill them! If they are harmless hubby catches them and throws them outside. And he does it in his bare hands *shudder*. Ones with bites that may cause problems he kills though.
Several years ago he came in with a wild tarantula he caught outside and kept it in an old fish tank in his work room. The door is always shut and I never go in there, but I couldn't sleep knowing it was even in the house so he let it go again.
I have gotten better through the years and don't scream as badly, unless I'm caught off guard, then I scream. Once he peels himself off the ceiling he comes running to see what I'm screaming about LOL
Sorry suddenly!! I used to be afraid they would get in my ears, but I wear earplugs now, not because of spiders, but because hubby snores, so I don't have that fear anymore, but now I'll have to find something to cover my mouth! LOL
skydragon... snakes I happen to like, it's bugs, especially spiders that get to me. Makes no sense![]()
My mother and her sister did terrible things to each other. Now because of this, one was scared to death of snakes and the other of spiders.
My mother who always loved snakes, and put them down my father's pants on a regular basis, pushed my aunt into a snake pit and would not help her get back out.Now my aunt was lucky she only got scared, because they were in PA and there are a lot of rattle snakes there. Not sure if my mother knew which type of snakes they were. I would think so because she used to go with my grandfather every year during the rattle snake bounty hunt.
A couple of years later my aunt got back at my mother. By this time they had moved to NY and lived near the water. If any of you have lived near a big body of water like I have you know there will be spiders galore.
My grandparents had a coal furnace and shortly after a delivery of coal my aunt locked my mother in the cellar. In the coal was a huge nest of big, black, furry, jumpy type spiders. She was covered from head to toe with these spiders. Did my aunt open the door for her? NOPE!!!!!
They were not children when these two events happened. They were in their 20s.
PAYBACKS ARE H..L
I was never afraid of snakes because of my mother, unfortunately, I caused my children to be afraid of them, but not on purpose. We had just gotten a new house and we were landscaping the yard. I found a nest of baby snakes and picked up two fist fulls and ran excitedly to my kids to show them my wonderful find. To this day they are deathly afraid of snakes. But they were just babies. The snakes, I mean.
I used to be afraid of spiders too. I believe it was because of the fear my mother had, with all the screaming and yelling whenever there was any type of spider around.
I had a simulair experience that you had. I was bed ridden for about a year and living with my father. I was next to a window where there was one huge, big, ugly, hairy spider, living outside, thank you very much. The body on this spider was the size of a quater. At first it scared the crap out of me, but after awhile I started watching her. I couldn't get rid of it. I was on the second story.
So I started watching this spider all the time. Catching its food, covering it with web and putting it in her web. I felt sorry for some of the butterflies and moths that got trapped. Some parts were pretty gory that close up but you get detached after awhile and just observe. I also got to see the egg laying and birth of a bizzillon baby spiders.
It was all very interesting and I no longer was afraid of spiders.
I don't feel a need to do it again though![]()
My children are in their 30s now. Yes, they are still afraid of snakes.
I have become more leary of them myself. Not because I am afraid of them, but because when my parents were alive they could tell me what kind of snake they were. Being so close to PA there are a lot of snakes coming in by trains, planes & automoblies so I don't dare just pick up any ole snake anymore. One bite could be my last![]()
I don't mind admitting I have an absolute phobia about snakes. Here's how bad it is. If I was in a pit with snakes and couldn't get out and had a pistol, I'd blow my brains out. They are the most vile sick creature on the planet and I'm getting excited just writing about them.
