Onto PC 5 (or is it 6). This one has been the biggest challenge. My next door neighbor has a candle soap business. I really didn't know much about him until the last few weeks. I knew he had a business going, but never realized how involved he is. He built a 2 1/2 car garage in the back of his property. I figured he used the garage as a garage, but no, it's a manufacturing site.

He had a problem that I bailed him out of a few weeks ago and figured he'd be a good candidate to get updated. Little did I know that he had some pretty ugly viruses hidden on it as well as a few driver issues. The prep seemed to go smooth but my opinion of AVG free didn't approve. I got the BSOD (blue screen of death) three times until I finally decided to use Windows Defender. It took two full scans and a quick one to get it running decently. Installed Avast's new version and it found two more. They also have a boot scan which is running now. After that finishes, I'll probably give malwarebytes a run through also but the machine itself is running real nice now.

Washing machine bit the dust this weekend. I didn't even consider trying to fix a machine that was probably 20+ years old. I hit CR and sent off to three people that had 3 year old machines for sale that sounded interesting and one was within half an hour of me. I was also looking at new ones but there didn't seem to be anything decent for less than $600. I figured that $280 was worth a shot. Well I got the right guy. He has been reconditioning them as a second job. The machine looks new and he knows what he's doing. I'm picking it up tomorrow and I'll be back in business.

The first set we had lasted 15 years and it was a plain old GE set that we bought at Sams Club. When we replaced it we decided to go with one of the top load high capacity HE units and dryer to match. It really didn't clean that good and lots of times wrapped clothes into knots in the spin cycle. In the eight years we had it I think the repair guy was there four or five times and I fixed the dryer once myself.

I know it's nothing new. I can't count how many times I've gotten online to check prices on something and the next thing I know there's an ad on the side of the screen or I later get an email from a store about an item I looked at. I think most people don't even pay attention any more.

I think it's kind of funny. I know I can get an additional $5 off any order to leatherup by just putting what I'm considering purchasing in their cart and never completing the order. A few hours later, I'll get a message that I left something in my card and I can take $5 off if I complete the purchase.

I hate plumbing. Occasionally, I do okay and get something right, but in most cases it's a disaster. I did well in disconnecting the old washing machine once I was able to free up the spigots which were frozen from years of non-use. However, when I went to attach the new washer, both were leaking from the stem when I opened them up to allow the water to flow.

Via Youtube, I found videos on turning the nut a bit tighter, but that lead to no change in the leak which led me to repacking the nut. Seemed simple enough and after a run to HD, I was ready to conquer the world. After I was done they were leaking worse than before I started. They'll be fine tomorrow when the professional comes in and does the job right. I justified the call by adding a frostfree outside spigot where one of the older type still exists. I got lucky last year because I forgot to shut it down last year and only realized it this past spring.

Of course, in the process of dealing with all this, I tried to get into the basement by the outside slider which wouldn't move. I pulled it out and the rollers on the bottom were welded solid from age and lack of use. Thank goodness for Fabulous Blaster. I took the rollers off the bottom of the door, blasted them and within a few minutes I had them rolling freely again. I then shot in some White Lithium Grease into the rollers and re-installed. Works like the day I bought the place. Of course that little project involved no water.

I hate plumbing too. I replaced an outdoor spigot once and got it all together and it would not stop dripping where the pipes screwed together. I ended up using a torch and soldering it. We have a kitchen faucet that is on its third sprayer and third or fourth faucet cartridge. I always call the company and get the part for free but it's a pain in the ..... I just replaced the sprayer again a week or so ago. I told my wife that next time I'm buying a new faucet.

Should have saved myself the trouble yesterday. He took one look at the spigots and decided to replace the spigots with ball valves. The only problem with that is I'd never have gotten the existing spigots off. He had to go to four wrenches, each gradually larger and 20 something muscles and it still took over half an hour to get the one off.

The washer runs nice and is much quieter than the old Kenmore that it replaced. All in all a pretty good deal. It's nice to have a plumber only a few miles from their office. You get scheduled early.

Got a bit of a scare with Giz yesterday which I failed to mention. He was chocking on something the day before but I seemed to get it to pass. However yesterday he just wasn't acting like normal and my gf mentioned that she noticed them eating stuff from the driveway and asked if acorns were bad for dogs. I never thought about it, but they are.

They can cause some pretty serious problem like kidney failure. I was prepared to run him to the vet, but he was back to acting his normal goofy self today so I'm pretty sure whatever was bothering him wasn't the acorns. However, I'm real careful to keep him away from the area the nuts fall.

Yeah, it's amazing the number of things that are bad for dogs. I only knew about antifreeze until fairly recently then chocolate, onions, avocado, garlic, caffeine, alcohol. grapes (raisins), macadamia nuts and milk products, just to name a few. Of course everything you hear about today needs to be taken with a grain of salt in this paranoid world we live in. As we know the dose makes the danger.

Jacks knocked off about a dozen chocolate chip cookies on day (container left on counter) and it scared the heck out of me. He didn't even get .........

Good morning. I went to play tennis with my youngest yesterday since she joined the tennis team at school and wanted to practice. My shoes were sticking to the court and I ended up rolling my ankle. It's not broken but it hurts to walk on especially when I put any outward force on it.

Sorry man, we all know the pain and they can take a while to get better, depending how bad you did it in. Hopefully you have some ACE bandages and can support it fr awhile.

I have far from flat feet, but that never stopped me. Of course I was always playing some sport, basketball was worst. Hope it gets better fast and be careful because it takes a decent amount of time to fully recover and they turn real easy until they do.

When I felt my foot roll over, I just went ahead and fell to the ground instead of fighting it. I think that helped. I won't be able to keep it up and iced because I'm on my feet almost all day. I don't think I'll be able to wrap it and fit my work shoes on. I just got some new under armout socks that really hug my feet and ankles and that seems to help. It doesn't hurt too bad unless I shift my weight to the outside in the direction that I rolled it.
