Happy Birthday Hitt! You must have been like a New Year's resolution or something.

I can't believe how lazy I've gotten. I was playing softball, volleyball and riding Century and Half Century bike rides into my 50s. Now I grumble about walking the dogs. I think it's the environment.

I think I'm just tired of the rain. It's been pretty wet since Sunday.

It took 4 days to get my Mint order from Buysnus. Stocked up a year or so past whatevert I have in the freezer.

Two nights in a row of running (ok, that's a bit of an overstatement...jogging). Pretty proud of myself. It's been 17 months I think.

Almost died at my friend's farm today. One of her large boxer/st bernard cross females has puppies and one had fallen through the dog door. Mama dog was inside, so I went into the pen to get the puppy and put it back inside with mom and the rest. Well. I got into the kennel, had picked the pup up when I heard a ROAR of rage from inside the kennel. Luckily I was quick with getting my hip and free hand against the dog door, thus blocking Tina from killing me outright. I guess she didn't appreciate my efforts. So, there I was, all alone, and in a situation where if I let go of the dog door, I was fairly sure Tina was gonna kill me. To make matters worse, the dog door is made out of plexiglass, orsomething similar so Tina could see me. Every time I shifted my weight or moved in any way, she would throw herself against the door again snarling. She was trying to hard to get me she bloodied her mouth on the door. Plan A, was to let her calm down and hopefully face away from the door, at which time I would run for it. That didn't happen. Plan B was to wait for my boss to get curious as to why I hadn't shown up and hopefully call around looking for me. I realized after about 20 minutes when my legs started shaking with fatigue that I wasn't gonna last much longer, and she was still as ...... as ever. It was weird the things that went through my mind. "So this is how it's gonna end for me, really??". "I wonder if she'll actually kill me or just hurt me real bad". Stuff like that. Finally I was able to hook a cinderblock with the toe of my boot and drag it over. This took forever cuz everytime I moved she attacked the door with renewed vigor. (think of the scene in Jurassic park where they are trying to close the door against a velocoraptor). I finally pulled the brick to me and stood it on it's end against the door which gave me just enough time to get out of there before she was able to shove the brick enough to get out. Phew. I still can't believe that actually happened to me!

Wow Axl, quite a story that fortunately had a happy ending. I guess you weren't carrying, were you? A cell phone I mean, of course. That would have been my first plan as mom tried to break plexiglass around me. You really need to be careful around a mom and her litter. I'd never take a chance with someone else's dog, especially a big one, around her litter. I lived on a farm for a number of months before I bought my current home. One mean a**** nearly feral cat had a litter up on one of the picnic tables. I had gotten her to the point of letting me pet her head a little, very cautiously. I was heading out to work and she the kittens were playing around, maybe a month old. I decided to pick one up. Wrong! She ripped open the back of my had. Not a simple scratch, she meant business. I had to rap it before I left for work, she drew some serious blood.

I don't know if any of you saw the HBO special, "One Nation Under Dog". I couldn't watch the later sections where they were mass gassing dogs, but the first section was about a doc in NJ that had 5 Rhodesian Ridgebacks that were terrorizing their neighbors. I heard about the movie because we were talking about dogs and I brought up the breed because a friend in NJ has one that I don't feel safe around. The bar manager told me about the movie since her niece had most of her ear bitten off by one of his dogs. They have a small bit in the movie but didn't want to get too involved because they're still dealing with the surgeries to make the little girl as good as possible.

That of course reminded me of what else happened picking up the clothes dryer. The gal told me about the body of a young woman that was found near my house the day before. I hadn't even heard about it, but it looks like she died/was murdered about 20 miles from here and dumped into a treeline of a farmer's field. 25/26 year old part time model who apparently had some drug issues. I was talking to the same bar manager on Friday and I started to ask if she had heard anything about it. I only got a couple words out and she said "I know all about it, that was my cousin's fiancee". As of last Friday, they couldn't find him and nothing new has come out in the news. I know where I'm having lunch tomorrow.

I didn't see that Roth. I cancelled hbo a long time ago. My cable bill got ridiculously high with the movie channels, dvr, and extra digital tier. Speaking of high bills, I an sick of our high cell phone bill. It seems crazy to me that the taxes are $20 a month.

That's the gubberment.......If the masses won't do without it, tax the snot out of it. I did a mock order at Northerner and the taxes nearly DOUBLED the price tag. Free shipping isn't gonna cover that.

Hey Axl, any Cujo scenes come to mind???? I'm glad everyone walked away in one piece. After that, you should be able to skip a run or two. I bet your legs got at least that. :p Nothin' worse than being alone when an animal decides to revert to instinct. The bigger they are, the less fun it is. I got cornered in a 4YO stallion's stall 20 some odd years ago with not a soul in the shedrow. They went to get lunch, and I went in to get his water bucket. He whooped my ... fair and square. One trip to the ER, and a couple of negative result Xrays later, and I was limping for a week.

Isn't that the truth Hitt, I can't believe how much I'm paying between phones and entertainment, not to mention the essentials. The other day I was heading somewhere and passed the local Ford dealership. There wasn't a used car on the front line as cheap as the cheapest house I sold after the Army in the early 70s when I was selling realestate.

What hit me was a Mustang, not particularly new, but priced at $19.9k. That really hit me since minimum wage went from $1.60 to $7.25 between 1970 and today. In real dollars, minimum wage decreased from a constant dollar of $6.47 in '70 to just $4.97 today. When you consider a Mustang was somewhere around $3,500 new in '70 compared to $30k now, I just shake my head. There are a mass of jobs that only pay $12-13 an hour. I wonder how many of the young people manage to survive.

Probably like one of the guys I used to work with. He had to have a brand new Ford fusion loaded and then went to his parents when he couldn't make his rent. New car prices are a sore point with me. The worst are the prices on the crossovers.40k for a Ford edge? Give me a break. I wouldn't be driving a new jeep if my company didn't buy it. Next year we are going to get my wife a newer one and give hers to the oldest daughter. We will go at least three years old. She wants another pathfinder.

I think new car prices are crazy too. I wonder how much profit per car they actually make? I'm happy with my 05 rendezvous and my 00 vw. I dread having to deal with getting a different car.

Four days in a row now of 11 minute runs. Yeah me! How did the new shoes work for you Hitt? I have a pair of asics but I am unable to run in them so I use them when I'm going to be walking alot instead. They are very comfortable for that. I use Nike 360's for running.

full weekend of dog training ahead for me. We'll see if the boys hold up!!

Congrats axl on your runs. The asics are taking a little getting used to. They have a lot more cushion than the Nike reax did. My knee and foot didn't bother me the next day like they did with the Nike.

I had to go buy a gate for the stairs tonight. We aren't letting the puppy upstairs yet. She goes back to the vet tomorrow. She's starting to get expensive.
