I decided to go to northerner and see what it would cost for just two rolls of jakobsson strong mint since I don't have a lot of room in the freezer and have plenty of general. They must have changed their shipping or something because they only charged 6.99 for shipping. I still came out at about $4 a can which is good enough for now. That will last me a while until the summer snus comes out then I'll order from snuscentral.

Good morning snusers. My Northerner order is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Not terrible on the shipping time but not as good as snuscentral. I got my first covid vaccine on Monday. My arm was pretty sore when I woke yesterday and was sore throughout the day but is better today. No side affects at all.

Nice. My sister in law said the second shot kicked her .... for a few days with fatigue but it wasn't any worse than a cold.

We were supposed to be able to get the vaccine through plant medical in the middle of March, but I'm assuming since MI is opening up to everyone 16+ April 5th they won't bother now.

Monday was the first day of the next phase where essential workers are eligible. It was just coincidence that my wife got me an appointment on the first day. It was at our county health department and they were very well organized. My wife goes for her second shot on Saturday. Since she had cancer years ago, the hospital where she was treated contacted her a few weeks ago and invited her to get the shot. I've heard mixed reactions on the second one. Some people were fine and others were sick a couple days. My boss was kind of a jerk about me taking off and not coming back Monday afternoon but my appointment wasn't until 2:30 and by the time I got done it was 3:15 and would have had to drive back to work 25 minutes to turn around and drive 25 home a little later. Not worth it. If I get sick from the second one then he's going to have to suck it up because I will call in sick if I need to. I haven't used a sick day in years.

Yes, we get paid sick days. It's a small company and I've never been told in 23 years that we get a certain number of days. Some people over the years have taken advantage of that and had way too many sick days but as far as I know they still got paid. I don't think I've had a sick day in at least 3-4 years.

You flashed me to a conversation I had years ago in the Accounts Payable Department. The one gal said she was going to take a sick day Friday. The other gal there said why would you do that you're not sick. The first one said, They wouldn't give them to you if they didn't want us to use them". We just looked at each other. Some time later, I had an opening in my department and I hired the one that looked astonished. She's done alright for herself too. As a high school graduate she's a project manager at Excelon, a $35b revenue company. I was pretty good at picking talent.

We've had some really bad ones at my work. We had this one lady in accounts receivable that missed about every other Monday.

My Northerner order is out for delivery today. Nothing exciting, just two rolls of jakobsson strong mint to build my stock back up. When I did my freezer inventory, I found eight cans left out of a roll of general onyx silver. It's not an every day snus for me but I get on a kick once in a while where I'll add it to the rotation. I went ahead and brought a can to work to get it used up. I would like to place a larger order once the summer snus is released this year.

I had very few sick days in my 18 years at my retirement job. I had a back issue that I could barely drive and immediately went to the nurses office and got a muscle relaxant that helped me get through the day. Thru a kidney stone the day after I left for vacation on a Saturday so missed that one.

I did have two years of "sick days" for March Madness when I was really into Bball but it really wasn't sick days as I worked while watching the games. After that I had full access to the internet and just worked from home those days. The only other times I was out sick when my boss thru me into a nervous breakdown that took me three or four days to get over and I think I was out about a week when my girlfriend broke up with me. I went to Home Depot and bought an eggshell colored paint and filled all the holes and painted my house with paint brushes until i got my head together.

We have 5 paid sick days per year that are use em' or lose em', but most folks blow through them by February.

We've got our share of folks that between FMLA, sick leave, and personal leaves show up maybe 10 days per year to make eligibility dates for bonuses and collect the week of holiday pay over Christmas.

There's a husband/wife on the door line that have been taking turns working/sick leave for as long as I've been working here. I don't know which doctors these folks have that are willing to put them out for whatever made up reason. My doc would be like you still got 1 leg, go back to work.

I wonder how people like that sleep at night.

Probably pretty well without the soreness of the daily grind. Lol

I'm like that also, gotta come to work to pay the bills. I'm down to just mortgage/car payment and utilities.

I take all of my vacation days every year, but there's some people that I swear work harder dreaming up machinations to get additional days off to the point that it would be less taxing to just come to work. I'm at 515 hours year to date and another guy on my team just crossed 100. It's insane.

Waho, that puts you at week 13 of the year or about an average of about 7 hours of overtime each week. By comparison, that fellow's only averaging around 9 hours a week. How does that happen? I'm sure it's union work but that's not even a part time job.

The guys on either side of me both worked at Merck. The one retired at 55 and he was always working until two or three years ago when he gave it up. Apparently he did real good because he's not hurting for money at all (or at least it appears that way). I know there were times he was pulling doubles which, depending on when, was big bucks.

The other guy amazes me that he still has a job. Now I know he has health issues but he's been out for months at a time. He's had a lot of leg issues which appear to be getting better but he's still around a lot of the time now that he appears better. I know the last snow storm he didn't go in the first day of the snow. Not sure why as when I spoke to him it was close to the time he normally goes to work and the road was already plowed open.

Sounds about right, between burning all his vacation and excused/disciplinary time off.

It helps him a ton that he's friends with our boss outside of work. He'll randomly roll up to the boss on Monday saying he's not feeling like working and leaves for the week. I'm honestly not sure how he pays his bills.

Darn, getting old is not fun. I went out to clear some leaves off the drive that my gf had blown out of a weird garden my gf had build along the drive. She always cleans it out in the Spring and doesn't finish the job.

I was blowing them down the drive past the huge rounds to where I could blow them into the woods. Suddenly my foot felt strange like it was sprained but at first I didn't pay attention. Then it started hurting more. In the leaves, I was finding "stuff" that had been in the garden- medal things, porcelain pieces, odds and ends she had put in the garden and ended up in the drive.

The only thing I could think of that happened was I stepped on one of them and didn't realize I had sprained my foot. However, by the time I was done it really hurt. It hurt enough that I used a cane that night and Tuesday and could feel the throbbing enough that I didn't want to put weight on it.

I've gingerly walked on it the last couple days and feel weird things emanating from it and have had other problems like my hip bothering me from walking weird for four days. Oh the good old days. I haven't had sprained ankles or feet since my basketball days that ended in my 30s.

I decided to look it up to see how long it might take to get back to normal, 2 to 4 weeks. Ugh

Sometimes it’s simple things that get you Roth. I had been buying the same shoes for work for years. I liked how they fit and lasted fairly long. The last time I bought a pair they had evidently changed them. I took the first pair back since they were hurting my feet. The second pair wasn’t much better. I ended up buying a different brand and realized that my favorite work shoes were different from before but not until I was having fairly bad foot pain. They made my feet hurt and I had slight numbness in my big toe on one foot for quite a while even after not wearing them. Like you mentioned, foot pain caused me to walk differently and started having other pain.

Well, I bought decking to replace the 25 years plus cedar decking on my oldest deck. I'm putting pressure treated because of cost. I paid, just for the decking, a few hundred more than the cost of building the entire deck originally. I've got a few boards on my big deck in the back of the house that need replacement and I'm mixing in treated with the cedar. I'll probably solid stain it anyway so I figured no big deal.

The only hassle I found when I did that on a couple pieces in the front was I had to plane the edges down. Something different in 6" cedar and 6" treated. Getting the old off is going easier than I expected, thanks in part to going thru a wet winter on fast decaying boards. That being said, I'm still pretty sore.

I had to replace a few on my deck last year. Some were pretty hard to get up. My neighbor just added steps down off of his with a small platform at the top and he said that lumber had gone up so much that it cost him 1800 to do that little project. I built my whole 12 x22 deck with three piece handrail about 20 years ago for 1500. That was before they changed to the new treated lumber.
