"Even rarer is a Maltese with one blue eye and one brown eye. This is extremely uncommon and is called Heterochromia. In most cases, both eyes are perfectly healthy… the blue does not equal a health issue; it is only a difference in the pigmentation of the iris."

The internet is amazing for getting answers to questions.

I've never gotten nic sweats, but I'll occasionally get a portion that brings up the niccups.

Little Bella's adjusting well to everything except me and my dog, both of which she cowers from. I can understand 105 pounds of hyper goldendoodle might be a bit overbearing, but I've done nothing to alienate her. The previous owner stopped by to visit her and she got so excited so it's not a male thing, just me.

I put down food in front of her and she looks at it like it's poison. She follows Joan everywhere. I take her out and she heads for the bushes. She'll even follow the cats around and they don't even freak out about her. The cats didn't get along with Hailey and they're also afraid of Jacks.

I'm sure she'll warm up to some extent but I've never got that type reaction from a dog before.

Dogs can be funny like that. My dog adores me, about pounds holes in the wall with her tail when I come home from work. My wife, not so much. The dog likes her but clearly I'm her favorite. Strange thing is that I never wanted a dog in the first place. The wife and boys wanted her. So here I'm stuck with a 100 pound lab following me everywhere I go. Go figure..

I got talked into getting our dog by my wife and youngest daughter. My wife is the dog's favorite probably because she's home with her all day. She like me ok but not as much as my wife. The funny thing is that the youngest, who begged for a dog, almost never is the one to take her for her walks. It's usually me or my wife.

I think that's how I ended up the favorite. I walk her, feed her, water her, etc. The boys rarely do any of it unless I make them. But they play with her a lot so it kind of evens out in the end. Still drives me nuts because no matter where I'm at she will lay right at my feet. I can't get out of bed in the morning without kicking her out of the way first. :glare:

Sounds like my girlfriends dog. She still prefers my girlfriend by a small amount but loves following me around.

I was painting the other day and the dog snuck into the room and managed to dip her tail into the paint tray, then proceeded to help paint a bunch of walls/appliances/furniture/legs around the house with her furiously wagging tail before we noticed.

Rebel, I know that happens, just not to me. :) Doesn't it make you feel good that someone is really glad to see you when you get home though. Hitt, you should have known that would happen. Kids want pets so their parents have something to do for a change. Rebel, that's been one thing that's been amusing. I'll take the little rat into the living room with me on the sofa if Joan's doing something. She is a long way from warming up to Jacks and normally hides from him. Every once in a while, I'll let Jacks on the sofa (actually a day bed) in the living room. Lately however, he's been looking for any opportunity to jump up without being asked. I think he's a bit jealous. :D Waho, with a little training, you may be able to sit back, have a beer and let the dog do the painting.:thumb: Now that's what I call a dog! She's beautiful!

The one thing I do like is that both dogs are neither heavy shedders nor copious allergen producers. After the Golden Retriever and the smaller American Eskimo/Sheltie mix, that's a relief.

That's her issue, she's a Collie/German Shepard mix, even with daily brushing if we don't vacuum twice a day the hair tumble weeds blow around the house. Her saving grace is that her left ear is perky and right ear is floppy, giving her an adorable perpetually confused/curious look.

On an unrelated note, the local Speedway has General back at $1.99 a can. I was smart this time and bought all their remaining stock of mint. I'd love to make an order for some variety as my stock is getting low, but between two unpaid weeks off in July for shutdown and staring down the barrel of what they're telling us could be a fairly healthy strike, I gotta save up some cash.

Waho, Turkey Hill has that as their regular price around here. She can't be any worse that a golden receiver and an American Eskimo mix, particularly when they were older. I could comb half a grocery brown bag of hair out of him and he'd still be spreading the love.

Just finished up my firewood acquisitions for the year. I have about a chord and a half of ash that I got from the same fellow I bought from last year and picked up another 1/2 to 3/4 of Osage Orange from a neighbor that I discovered I worked with in two previous careers. I still need to pick up 2 or 3 trailers worth from those guys.

I passed a stack of wood at the end of a driveway on my way to see my mom. I thought they might be selling small stacks but on returning I stopped and realized the business was a skid business and they were selling the cutoffs. Years ago I was buying from a business 20 miles away, but you had to get your orders in early and it was more trouble than it was worth.

I decided to stop in since the wood they use for the skids is all oak and is dry. For $250 they dump 4 1/2 chords worth and that's true chords since the wood has little airspace when stacked. I'm good for the next two years now and can get on to other projects.

That is quite the task to keep up with wood for the winter. We just have one of those fireplace inserts that I don't really consider a fireplace. I think we've burned in it maybe twice in fifteen years. I remember we were excited to have a fireplace when we bought the house. Not sure what happened but we lost interest pretty quick.

Yeah, it's a lot of work, particularly if it's not really energy efficient. I've had a fireplace in every home I've lived in. The first was more for ambiance but after that I made sure they were functional. The first was just a fireplace but I added a blower unit and glass and it definitely became a utility.

The first one here was a fireplace insert but enclosed with blowers. It always bothered be because it was set up to blow the air out 5 foot up, into the room. As much as I hated having to put out the money to replace it, the new one really works well. Now that I have a shed to store the wood in, life is so much easier when winter returns.

    Plus there's the exercise factor.
