Yeah, I've got one that is doing that right now. I bought some irrigation hose to extend it out in the yard and I'll get one of those pop up drains to take care of the problem. I used two of those in the front where the water comes off my porch. Ran them under the sidewalk and out into the yard. I have to keep the pop up drains clear of obstructions but they work great for feeding water away from the foundation.

It was only a problem when we had deluges. I think the worst was Floyd that hit hard in '99 (boy, that was a while ago, right before major life changes). I got a call from a friend to see if I had any pumps. I said I thought I had one in the basement and would grab it and bring it over.

I started down the steps and realized I had over a foot in my basement. I called back and said I wouldn't be over because I had the same issue. I'm not even sure how easy it would have been to get to their place because they were on the other side of a stream that I later found out had flooded out the road. After that, I had a couple more instances, other than a few puddles seeping up from the concrete. Each one was less aggressive as I identified the issues.

I don't know if anyone buys Nicoticket but I found out they were going out of business today. Such a shame.

That is a shame. I've never bought from them but think they were pretty popular. Where did you see the news?

I got an email since I've been one of their customers from time to time. He's apparently a Licensed Mental Health Professional and is planning on returning to that world. My guess is that the FDA's regulations were the writing on the wall for him.

I spent some time with the boys down at Mister E vapers discussing the regulations. They have two BMs here in Grand Rapids so I usually stop by once a month to get a refill. They will remain open and have started using new packaging to fall in line with the FDA. But they said be prepared to see about 60 to 75% of the vaping businesses close the doors. Sad...

Okay, now I'm frustrated. Jackson, my Goldendoodle was diagnosed with Lyme last month during the regular visit. The one little dog showed symptoms yesterday so both went in and she was checked, Lyme and the other was tested. I just got a call from the vet. Yup, Lyme.

I've had all three on Nexguard since last year when I had Jacks in for his annual checkup. The vet at the time suggested Nexguard because it handles both fleas and ticks, particularly "the lyme carrying ones". Sounded great to me. Around a year later, all three have it.

On a side note, it's tough going outside knowing they must be everywhere.

Sorry to hear that Roth. What's the treatment for that? I've heard a lot of people around here complaining about oak mites lately. Luckily I don't have any oak trees near me but have kinda been watching for them when I go somewhere.

30 days of Doxycycline (sp?), an antibiotic. That's a pain, but not as bad as some of the potential diseases that could be diagnosed. I had a Golden that got Lyme which eventually led to kidney failure. My ex took him with her when we broke up and it was diagnosed soon after. I think she spent $10k trying to keep him alive. He might have lasted a year. Two other dogs on my street also died from Lyme related diseases. I just try to take the attitude that they'll be okay after they get treated.

I got out the crumbs of comfort to celebrate.

I'm looking forward to the first frost here. My dog has grass pollen allergies and has been pretty miserable the last couple months despite a visit to the vet and some meds.

That's Hitt. We're getting wind chills in the 20s overnight and into tomorrow, around freezing. I'm guessing I'll be able to call for oil by Monday. I've been trying to get to a quarter left for three week. This weekend should get me there. I haven't had a fire yet this fall, it's just been so mild and I want to get oil while it's still fairly cheap.

They said the big moon that's supposed to reach its peak on Monday will be best seen Sunday since it will be cloudy on Monday night The last one was around when I was born and the next one won't be until '34 so I might not be around to see that one. It seems strange to say that but that's reality. At least I have my tombstone ready for me. LOL

I probably should have but it doesn't take very long so I can probably do it one night this week after work before it gets dark.

Finished wrapping up the chores outside this weekend. Drained the underground sprinkling, got the furniture off the deck and stored, covered the air conditioner, raked out the landscaping, and trimmed the bushes. Funny to say that two weeks into November as I'm usually scrambling like crazy to get this stuff done in 30 degree weather. Beautiful weekend, wish could stay this way all winter.

You forgot one thing. You didn't do my sprinklers. Does yours just have a drain valve? I have to hook my compressor to a line in the basement and blow mine out.

I think I forgot to mention it but we had two cigarette/tobacco tax increase amendments on the ballot here in MO. I am happy to say that we voted them down. For once people didn't fall for the " For the children" crap.

Mine is self draining Hitt. I just have to open up the valves and the excess water in the lines drains into my sump tank in the basement, or I can drain it into a bucket and dump it outside if I want. Maybe a gallon give or take, not much, so I let my sump take care of it. General went back on sale at my local gas station, $1.99 a can. I've cleaned them out three time now, waiting for them to reload again.

How do you get the water out of each zone and the heads like that? Do you have to cycle through the zones?

Each zone has an automatic drain valve that opens when the water shuts off to drain the lines and the heads are self draining by gravity. The only spot I really have to worry about is the check valve just outside the house. Once I relieve the pressure and drain the water from that, the rest of the system, in theory, should be dry. I made the mistake once of not draining the check valve and a hundred dollars later I had a new check valve. Now I make sure to do it every year.
