As I've stated, I get more positivity than not when I blow a cloud. Most are actually laughs. In my mind, blowing a regular cloud that resembles a cigarette looks worse to people. They think you are smoking. When one blows a cloud, people know for sure it's not a cigarette. Then they start thinking about what it could be. Hookah? Drugs? But that's so much "smoke"! This is probably why I get asked questions about it. People get curious.

I do these in places where I was given permission to or outdoors as I'm walking through a parking lot or something. I mean, I do get negative stares too, but they are mostly positive.

I'm just saying, you can't generalize cloud chasers like that. Standard resistance vapers outnumber cloud chasers greatly. vaping is still being banned and fought against. Maybe it's time to consider the possibility that these bans have an entirely different reason... like say... greed.

Disrespectful cloud chasers are a subset of cloud chasers just like cloud chasers are a subset of vapers. Non cloud chasers don't want to be lumped in with cloud chasers. Guess who respectful cloud chasers don't want to be lumped in with.

This debate reminds me if the old Sirlin dissertation on playing to win in online gaming and how foolish it was to limit your gameplay based on some arbitrary self imposed rules based on your personal feeling that a particular play style or usage of particular equipment in the game is "lame."

When I got into rebuildables, I was looking for better flavor. I wrapped a few coils that were sub-ohm, .7 &.9 on two separate drippers. Wow! The biggest clouds I'd ever produced, intense flavor and throat-hit. It was cool! Over the next week I wrapped some even lower, though vapor production was excellent, it wasn't excactly what I wanted. A little too intense for my liking.

By then my Prometheus, Kraken and Kayfun's had arrived. I was still experimenting with different gauge wire as well as number of wraps. I wrapped a 28 gauge-1.1 ohm coil in the Prometheus and found it more to my liking than lower ohm's I had in the drippers. So I wrapped all my tanks at the same 1.1 ohm and have found my personal sweet spot with my tanks and drippers.

I don't care about clouds as much as I do flavor. I prefer a good combination of flavor/throat-hit/vapor production.

Is everyone who is talking down about sub-ohm speaking from experience?

I think the practice is getting dismissed by a bunch of folks who have never even attempted it...much less given it a real chance. The first time I sub-ohmed, it was on an unsuitable atty (I believe it was a genesis style). It tasted dreadful...and I dismissed it for a time. However, my later experiences with re-buildable atomizers lead me to realize why this initial attempt was destined to fail. The wicking and airflow must be able to balance the power applied to the atty for the vape to be tasty. So if you load up a KFL with a .5 ohm coil and expect a good vape...it will likely not be a good experience. The 1/16" stock airway won't support much more than 12 watts (for me).

I am a 44 year old vaper who is almost to my two-year mark vaping. Does anyone honestly think I am trying to impress someone with my sub-ohm clouds?

It was my sixth or seventh build when I finally got a "Wow" moment, and really enjoyed the flavor of a 0.8 ohm dual coil. Now, my favorite dual coils ohm out around 0.6. All I am saying is, people should try it before they dismiss it, or limit their derisive comments. There is nothing inherently dangerous or immature about vaping this way. I certainly may be immature, but not because of my vape set-up.

I for one have built my share of cloud chasing mosters. I find that they are something that I play around with for a day or so, and then throw away. They're just not my bag. I get the vape that I like best from a 2 ohm coil, so why wouldn't I do 2 ohm builds?

Bottom line is I'll keep vaping what I like, and not worry about what others like.

    Bottom line.
People jump out of planes. For fun.
People hike days through the desert. For fun.
People swim with sharks. For fun.
People skydive and paraglide from the tops of buildings. For fun.
    People bungee jump. For fun.

I don't see a bunch of paratroopers trying to get skydivers to stop.
I don't see people in Vegas trying to stop hikers.
I don't see submarine people trying to stop divers
I don't see skydivers and para gliders saying "that group gives us a bad name"
I don't see climbers trying to stop people bungee jumping.

It does not matter what "activity" you enjoy. There will be main-stream people, conservatives, and extremists.

Saying you need to regulate ecigs and PVs because of big clouds is really the same as saying you need to regulate "because of the children".
A useless opinion based excuse is a useless opinion based excuse.

No, I'm not a cloud chaser. And, no... Cloud chasers don't offend me any more than people who hike trough the desert do.

I really don't get it. Why do people feel the need to be able to produce their own personal fog bank at will? I enjoy blowing a decent cigarette smoke sized cloud, but I've never felt the need to don the superhero cape and become..."Fog Man!"

I could understand it if you got more flavor, but I can build a setup that practically drains ejuice out the side of my mouth when I take a hit...and doesn't require a fan to find the building exits. I hear about some of these guys going through 20-30 ml a day.

Is it a vaping subculture thing? Is it to impress other vapors? Did they take massive drags on the old coffin nails that turned half the cig into ash on one puff?
    I just don't get it.

Honestly, I don't get it, either. I am happy with more flavor, less vapor. I mean, granted, I DO want SOME clouds... but nothing to chase. I'm like you; I prefer regular cigarette-smoke-sized clouds. Lol

    Happy vaping! :D

    Great post.

    But... there's always a but...

As I've mentioned... while cloud chasing is undoubtedly fun for me, it's also been a problematic addiction of mine. Glad I can be satisfied with vaping. The thought of doing anything else is disgusting to me now.

Well, several of us have tried to explain reasons. If you still don't get it, then I'm sad :(

    LoL.

I like to cloud chase at home or when I'm with friends with permission. I think it's fun to see my little vape blow more clouds than my friend's hookah. To me, it's kinda just "I wonder if I can make even bigger clouds with my next build." The deep breaths also help calm me down whenever I'm stressing out over school work and etc.

However, I don't even think to bring my mech setup outside my house. I remember walking at a local shopping center and some kid blew out a thick cloud while walking on a busy sidewalk. The people who got caught up in the cloud were less than impressed and he got a lot of dirty looks behind his back.

    :what:

    This statement makes sense........ how?

Sent from my KFOT using Tapatalk

I read that to mean, "I get more positive stares than negative stares."

    But... But....
The grammar police will think it means that the negative stares are positive!!
Gotta love grammar. I've seen some really bad ones posted on school signs!!

I could not honestly tell you.

I vape 100vg for the ingredients, not for the massive vapor.
I kind of wish I could tone down the vapor a smidge, because it makes it hard to stealth vape in the basement on humid days.

wow, that sucks. why do they keep you in the basement on humid days?

    Bottom line.

People jump out of planes. For fun.
But they don't land in anyone's back yard.

People hike days through the desert. For fun.
Nobody lives in the desert to mind.

People swim with sharks. For fun.
These people are just plain stupid. :D

    People bungee jump. For fun.
Nobody has to catch them. They don't bother anyone.

I don't see a bunch of paratroopers trying to get skydivers to stop.
I don't see people in Vegas trying to stop hikers.

Because none of these activities bother the people that don't participate in them. The only reason cloud chasers bother us normal(?) vapers is because we have to deal with the ANTZ that complain and are immediately lumped in with them.

Honestly. Were I in a vape room with cloud chasers and nobody else it wouldn't bother me a bit. I think it would be kind of impressive myself. Again, it's not me (a vaper) complaining about other extreme vapers out there (vapor-ers?).

It does not matter what "activity" you enjoy.
True. But it matters *where* you enjoy it. I am just saying if cloud chasers don't respect the non-vaping public, at least respect me, an ex-smoker and this wonderful harm reduction alternative that is still searching for acceptance. (And struggling I might add).

    Cheers my friend!
