I have no issue with it, but I just feel there is a time and a place for it, and that place is vape shops and your own private property. Cloud chasing in public might put a good taste in your mouth, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of those that see it and don't understand it. That leads to bans.

I disagree completely. Cloud chasers are a minority. The bans are, and have been, coming. Vaping is getting banned just fine without pointing fingers at cloud chasers. Are there obnoxious chasers out there? Sure there are. But there are more obnoxious non-chasers simply due to the fact of numbers.

It's like the negativity about sub-ohming being dangerous and that someone will blow themselves up and cause issues with the public. This ignores the fact that catastrophic battery failures have already occurred. Most of those having nothing to do with cloud chasing at all. And some of the ones that might can't be proven it was. These accidents occur from people overcharging their egos or stacking ICR batteries in unregulated devices.

In my personal experience, when I blow a cloud in public (I rarely vape at all in public, but when I do, it's in places where it's either allowed or outside in the wide open air) I get laughs and questions about it. To me, that's a positive light.

This is like the VapeBash event. Before the event, we asked if we could hold a cloud chasing competition. They said no because they fear fire alarms would be set off. They also said we would have to stop if any alarms did go off. I found that ridiculous. A handful of cloud chasers compared to hundreds of standard resistance vapers? There's no comparison. And my thoughts held true when Bash happened. When us chasers walked into that room, it was completely foggy. Compared to that, we barely added to it.

Funny thing is, 3 guests set off alarms in their rooms. They got evicted with one of them being assaulted by a member of management. They weren't all cloud chasers either. Yet, people were automatically blaming us. Needless to say, on the last day, the event organizers allowed a cloud competition to be held. I'm almost positive this is because they got to experience first hand that not all of the negativity about cloud chasing is true.

Bans are happening regardless of how much vapor you put out. That's a common sense thing on where to vape, not a cloud chasing thing.

I agree that bans may be coming regardless, but they may be, and have been, delayed in some states. I'm a big believer in "not poking the bear" if you don't have to. I live in Maryland. We were one of the first states to ban smoking virtually everywhere. This past legislative session some delegates sponsored a bill for a ban on vaping wherever smoking is banned. Basically everywhere. Thanks to vapers speaking up, it was agreed to shelve the bill until further research is completed to determine if vapor is harmful. Vapers have a fighting chance here in Maryland to be able to vape in businesses that choose to allow it, and businesses have a chance to cater to a growing portion of the population. Now if people want to start blowing clouds everywhere it's going to annoy people, and those people will turn to the nanny state to impose their will on everyone.

Because it's the cloud chasers and the cloud chasers alone who are vaping everywhere they want, to annoy people. Right. Solid argument, although it has nothing to do with why there are bans.

I'm not saying that at all. Most vaping bans are just due to plain ignorance. However, if you are cloud chasing in a bar, and I guy can't see the game on the television through your clouds, the bar owner is likely to say enough of this, and just not allow vaping all together. People are already uneducated when it comes to vaping. I don't think they are going to try to understand that there are different types of vaping.

I think you may misunderstand me. I am only objecting to one phrase you typed: "Cloud chasing in public might put a good taste in your mouth, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of those that see it and don't understand it. That leads to bans." You need to change that to "vaping" not "cloud chasing". You are putting people like myself in a bad light. Placing blame of bans on me and others like me. You are going to get people that are arrogant and birth huge clouds in others faces, but that is not all cloud chasers. Your statement pigeonholes me. Understand this; cloud size does not matter to the people that want vaping banned.

My mancave
I'd drop by a smoking area, pop out my mech, and vape a few clouds, re-pocket it and say goodbye to the smokers who sat there looking astonished (and I saw a few people whispering and pointing as I walked away).
Now I like that. I was trying to think of a scenario in which puffing big clouds in a public place wouldn't make me worry so much that non-vapers would take pictures and wave them around screaming, "See? SEE?!? It's just another kind of smoking!"

No one is going to look at a small crowd in a designated smoking area and pay any attention to the size of the clouds in it.

So I now officially alter my opinion: Only small clouds should be blown when vaping in public outside of designated smoking areas. But big ol' Hindenburg-sized puffy white storm fronts are fine to blow while IN a smoking area, where none of the judgmentals are going to be sticking their noses.

Personally I like the feeling of high VG juice in a thick cloud as it goes down while lung hitting.

Nothing else feels like it. Pump up a 2.0 ohm coil to 30 watts vs a .6 at 30 watts, because of the differing coil surface areas, speeds that they heat up, and heat of the vapor coming off the two different coils they feel totally different.

Hawaii is trying to put a 85% tax on e-juice... lol, time to start mixing my own I guess.
Ban it in public... lol, ill just mix high PG, go to 1.0 ohm instead of .6 and hold my cloud in letting it thin and slowly exhale good luck spotting it.

Bans have nothing to do with cloud size, smell etc and everything to do with ignorance of dangers, monetary potential, and public ignorance coupled with ambivalence of non-vapers who believe whatever they are told.

As a smoker and still as a vaper I have never been one to walk into a business where no one is smoking/vaping and cloud it up... even if it is allowed. It's just rude, health risk or not, to impose your smoke/vapor on people who don't smoke/vape indoors. If you don't think so, you are perfect example of why the government needs to have a hand in every aspect of life :2c:

If you vape in a place where smoking is not allowed... Arent you just as bad as the cloud chasers?... Think about it, we that chase the clouds annoy you because we put out huge ammounts of vapor... But you annoy the smokers that has to go outside, and you annoy the people that simply cant stand the smell of your vape or the hanging vape... I do believe that pretty much all cloud chasers shows more caution when vaping than your average vapor does... Simply because of the fact that we get hammered by easily 50% of our own community for vaping as we like it AND the anti smokers/vapers...
Most of us would never go inside a bar and blow a ridiculous cloud, order a beer and keep blowing clouds...

True, except I don't vape where smoking isn't allowed, with two exceptions. I will go into a bathroom and vape in a stall at airports, and I will vape in a hotel room. If I'm at a bar I go outside and vape with the smokers. I don't vape in malls, grocery stores, etc. It is perfectly legal in Maryland to do so, but I choose not to.

by the logic you put on cloud chasers, then you'd be the person ticking people off in those two places. two places where vaping there is a way to get around the rules as if they don't apply to you. rules, you've personally shown that you think apply. therefore by your own admission and the fact that you're basically hiding what you're doing, you believe are applicable... which would make you the guilty party.

it's not fair or logical for you to project your own ethical issues upon people who by their very nature couldn't do what you do. if a person is a cloud chaser, they simply can't hide it in a bathroom stall or most large hotel rooms. it will linger and escape leaving an undeniable tell.

this imaginary culture of people who blow clouds so big everywhere they're not allowed to and making voters angry just isn't real. sure, when you go to a vape shop where it's welcomed... or vape bash where the hotel owners and managers knew very well what was gong to go on when they booked the event and welcomed the revenue... well... it's expected.

we're all adults here. i think it's time all of us realize it, personally. to me that means i can assume many of us are responsible for our own actions by definition.

take note, the bolded hints very strongly that you truly believe that people who enjoy a thicker, fuller vape than yourself obviously have no regards for the rules. it's blatantly and downright insulting... especially when it's insisted upon regardless of what's said and by whom. i think this has been a very civil discussion and the discretion of sub ohmers and cloud chasers alike speaks for itself as we're constantly being blasted in our own community and unlike the provarinati for example, rarely ever lash back. think about it in context and then think of the likelyhood we're all out to get someone by blowing massive clouds in their faces.

I am not bashing cloud chasers at all. I just think it's obvious that the general public will have a much different perception between "regular" vaping and cloud chasing. Even when smoking was allowed nearly everywhere, most places did not allow cigars. The smoke was thicker and the odors were stronger, probably more pleasant, but stronger. We are both from Maryland. There is no state law banning vaping here, but don't you believe that the perception from the general public is going to be different between a regular vape that produces about the same amount of vape as cigarette smoke and a sub-ohm build that looks like a locomotive? Right now, in MD, a business owner can decide if they want to allow vaping in their establishment, but unlike the noticeable difference between a cigar and a cigarette, most of the general public don't know about sub-ohm cloud chasing. They are just going to lump us all together and say no to the whole thing. I hope a day comes when we can all sit in a bar and enjoy a drink, a vape, and watch the game, but that won't happen if some people insist on fogging up the whole bar.

Again, we cloud chasers are alot more cautious when vaping, and most of us carry a backup for use where a cloud would not be acceptable, i even ask in vape shops if its ok to blow clouds while i browse or if i should use the backup... We arent stupid kids that cant see that theres a time and place for everything

Simply the fact that you seem to have the mindset that we cant figure out not to blow a cloud into a crowded daycare is extremely offensive to me since i would never accuse you or anybody for something similar

I would be more worried about the provarinati since they have an OCD like need to show off their expensive APV

My daily carry vape is what some people would call a cloud chasing set up. Right now I have a dual coil running at .4 ohms. The first time I did it was just to see what it was all about. Not for the wow factor, I just wanted to experience the big cloud. See what it felt like. Now it is all about satisfaction. I used to vape 18mg. Now with this set up I vape 6mg. The nicotine delivery is so much more intense with these builds. I find the vape much more satisfying than I ever found cigarettes.

Feel I gotta add that I don't walk through walmart blowing a huge cloud. When the time and place is right I'll blow a huge cloud. When I am not with like minded people I generally blow straight down quickly which dissipates the cloud very fast.

Thanks everyone. I appreciated almost all of the responses. I wanted to know what motivated people to become "cloud chasers" and I got a lot of great replies. I'd always assumed that huge clouds=no flavor, and that most people who did it used straight VG or very low nic e-juice and were pretty much all sub-ohmer's and competitors or fad chasers. I'm glad to see that is not always the case (or even mostly the case).
