I'm pretty new to vaping and I'm happy to see a thriving community online! Hello from Florida!

I smoked for 16 years and at the turn of the year, I decided I was going to quit, no matter what it took. I had tried nicorette gum, cold turkey, and chantex, but nothing seemed to work till I found e-cigs. Now cigarettes taste like ashes in my mouth in comparison. Why would I want burning tar when I can vape on fruit and chocolate? I still smoke a cigarette from time to time, especially when I'm around friends I used to smoke with ritually, but it's gotten easier and easier not to smoke any cigarettes at all.

I have to say though, I'm probably more addicted to nicotine than I've ever been, since it's so easy to chain vape, but I feel pretty confident that I'll be able to stairstep down and quit this habit within time.

My question to you is, what is your plan with vaping? Are you going to continue indefinitely? Are you using it as an in-between to quit smoking/vaping altogether?

I plan to not plan.

No, seriously, I fell into this by happenstance and wasn't trying to quit but it started happening anyway. I mean, I haven't stopped dead. But day one, having bought a disposable just to "try it out", I fell from up to 2 packs a day to two or three cigs a day. This past week, it's down to forgetting to smoke at all for a day or two. Actually not thinking about it. Which for me is just too weird. I think I had a cigarette Friday? Didn't like it either.

Not putting pressure on myself is working so well, I don't plan on planning anything.

Now cigarettes taste like ashes in my mouth in comparison. Why would I want burning tar when I can vape on fruit and chocolate?

That's what's happening to me. If I get the impulse to have one, I don't "resist" it. More times than not, and more all the time, I find myself being rather repelled by the idea. Tobacco cigs just taste bad now. They also tend to give me a headache. Wonder if I've become used to the slower uptake of nicotine in vaping? I dunno. But, you know, it's funny, people tend to smoke when they're stressed so I figure getting stressed about quitting would make me want to smoke. :)

When i got my first ecig (2 years ago) the plan was to just use the device to stop smoking analogs. Unfortunately, when i first started vaping i used a really crappy (border line disposable) brand (white dragon) and it was okay, but it was expensive, $15 for 5 cartridges and I used about 2 a day. Also, the batteries were crap and were $20 for a single battery. I did that for 4 months until I finally decided enough was enough.

I found a brick and mortar shop here in las vegas and bought a ego kit. It was great! It took awhile (about a month) for me to understand the ohms and volts aspect, but after that it was amazing!

I've reached that point where I could walk away, but why? I really enjoy vaping, I look at it as more of a hobby than a habit. I have a plethora of mods and the collection only gets bigger, everyday a different mod becomes available and not always better, but the experience will stay with me. I'm in this for the long haul!

Plan for my bf to quit smoking with e-cig since it seems like an easier way out compared to cold turkey and gradual cutting down which seems to fail.. And after the e-cig, would lead to reducing and hopefully stop the nic addiction. As for the future, i have no idea since he hasnt started vaping. Haha. But still, health concerns first!

No Plan. I've started off at 18mg and it's OK. Sometimes I vape a lot, sometimes I vape a little. I don't wake up desperate for a ... anymore, so I may just not vape until I'm in the car or a work, while eventually cutting down the concentration of nicotine. I've got supplies coming that will allow me to mix my own liquid to whatever strength I desire. Maybe stronger flavours and less nicotine will do it. Not a plan, just something to try while I take the journey.

Whatever happens, will. I was a rollie smoker for 35 years, and never kicked the nicotine habit. If I vape for the next 35 years with or without nicotine I will consider myself a lucky man, since I am now cigarette free and have no desire to smoke another one, ever.

Funny you ask this question.....was telling my wife this morning that if I had to quit vaping and started smoking analogs again I would miss vaping more than I did smoking analogs. This may be due to (as the OP mentioned) your able to chain vape all day long. I started with 24mg and now am down to 18mg.....will continue to step down until no nic at all. But I think (as Jazon mentioned) I will vape until some health risks develop! I have no plans on quitting......I enjoy it way to much!

^This. Word for word.

Began vaping 36 mg X 50 ml per week 1 1/2 yrs ago. Now down to 2 mg X 15 ml per week. Planned on quitting last New Years but didn't and it's no big deal. When the time is right I will stop vaping...I know one thing and that is I will NEVER smoke another analog in my life.
As for being addicted to nicotine I know I'm not addicted to vaping in the same way I was addicted to analogs. Can go hrs if I get busy with something without having strong "drive me up a wall" cravings that I had with analogs. I think I'm presently more addicted to the hand to mouth action.

Hello from a fellow Floridian!

Initially my purpose was to use ecigs as a way to quit all together. I saw it just as another way to quit smoking, like the patch or gum. Chantix was never an option for me, after reading the possible side effects, it scared me away.

Now I'm reading though that nicotine is akin to caffeine as far as medical professionals go. This may be completely wrong.

I am still extremely new to vaping (sounds even weird to say it) My opinion and thoughts may change over time, but right now, I don't see any reason to stop vaping. I certainly see zero reason to start smoking traditional burning cigarettes again and never will pick one up, or smoke it.

Vaping is actually better than smoking, to me. And then you add in all the fun flavors and toys.

I can honestly say, right now, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Quit vaping, stay vaping, I think in the long run it doesn't matter. The most important thing is to never smoke traditional cigarettes again. Vaping = good. Cigarettes = bad.

Only time will tell what happens but, seriously, who doesn't want to vape chocolate?

Je pense que la plupart des l'intention de faire de cette façon. Prenez votre temps et ne vous précipitez pas les choses comme si vous réduisez la nicotine trop rapidement, vous pouvez subir des revers.

Hey all, new to the forum. I smoked for 26 years and quit Dec. 7th 2012, thanks to e-cigs. I fully committed to not smoking and haven't so much as had a puff since. That is saying something seeing as my longest break in 26 years was about a week.

I originally started out at 24mg nic and every month lowered the amount. Now I vape at 6mg and have been for about a month. Currently I am switching back and forth between 6mg and 0, fully believing that if the bottle was labeled 6mg nic, but was actually 0mg, I wouldn't know the difference. 6mg is really low however, so I will likely stay with that for a while and just keep mixing it up with the 0mg.

My first post! I haven't even started vaping yet but I plan to order a starter kit this week, once I wrap my head around this whole concept a little more. I've vaped a tiny bit - my dad bought a couple Greensmoke starter kits (the kind that look like analogs) for he and my mom a couple years ago, and she wasn't really into it so he gave it to me. I messed around with it for a few days but never really got the hang of it.

Ultimately, my goal is to cut waaaaay back on smoking. Once I get that far, I'll decide whether or not to go further (eg cut out the nicotine altogether, stop completely...)

I'm a little overwhelmed by everything. I have been rolling my own for almost 20 yrs (American Spirit organic), and I am thinking I should start with an eGo starter kit. I need a strong TH and a decent nicotine level to start. I want to start off smart, not cheap. I've already come to terms with the fact that this may cost me more than smoking, since I'm a roller.

Anyway, there are some initial thoughts as I try to build my post count between reading the miles of excellent and daunting text all over this forum.

Hello, bananas . . . Welcome to the ECF boards. Vaping is a solid and proving way to quit smoking, as many of us have succeeded in using this platform.

Yes, there is so much information here. Continue to read and ask some questions. I trust that vaping will prove to be a productive venture for you.
